Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All -
Chapter 595: Move On
Chapter 595: Chapter 595: Move On
Soon Yu Holea reached the Qiao Family’s mansion and smoothly entered the villa. In the living room, she saw Cai Bao, Qiao Heng, Mrs. Qiao, Qiao Li, Qiao Zixin, Qiao Zifei, and Qiao Zirui sitting in the living room with a strange expression on their face.
They were also discussing something among themselves.
Once they saw Yu Holea, they were even more confused, but their excitement surpassed the confusion and Cai Bao motioned Yu Holea to come and sit near her.
"Lea! Come here! Sit."
Yu Holea obediently with slightly red eyes sat beside Cai Bao.
"Lea? Why are your eyes red? Did something happen?" Qiao Li asked worriedly.
With the thought of continuing the act, Yu Holea shook her head, but her sad expression told another story.
Qiao Jun almost laughed when he saw Yu Holea’s expression. He wanted to praise his wife for being a good actor, however, he held it in and announced with a stern voice.
"I want to break off my engagement with Holea."
One second.
Two seconds.
Three minutes passed and finally, after processing Qiao Jun’s words, the members of the Qiao family reacted.
Qiao Heng’s face darkened and he shouted,
"You ba*tard! How come I have such a stupid son? You unreliable man!"
Mrs. Qiao’s brows furrowed,
"Jun if you are joking stop right away. Don’t act like a scumbag! You have lost your memory. Make such decisions later."
Cai Bao stared at Qiao Jun for a while before saying in an authoritative voice,
"I will see how you will break off this engagement, Jun! This girl has been by your side through everything. Where did this ridiculous notion come from?"
Qiao Li’s angry voice resounded in the living room,
"Brother Jun, are you serious? How can you even think of leaving Holea? She’s taken care of you when you couldn’t even remember her!
She’s been patient, understanding, and devoted. If you go through with this... I swear, I’ll cut off our relationship as brother and sister!"
Qiao Zixin softly advised him,
"Jun, you’re not thinking straight. This isn’t the time to make such decisions. You’re clearly going through something.
Why don’t you take a few days to think it over before throwing away everything you two have built together?"
On the other side of the room, Qiao Zifei and Qiao Zirui, exchanged a look before both glared daggers at their older brother.
"How can you even consider hurting her like this?" Zifei muttered, his voice unusually tense.
"It better if his engagement can be shifted to me." Zirui followed along.
Yu Holea, who had been sitting quietly beside Cai Bao, finally let out a small sniffle, as if struggling to hold back tears.
Her head bowed slightly, and she took a deep breath before speaking, her voice trembling.
"I... I understand," she whispered, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
"If Jun feels that strongly, I won’t force him to stay. I’ve tried my best, really. But if he truly wants to break things off, then... I’ll respect his decision."
A silence fell over the room, thick and stifling, as her words settled in.
Cai Bao’s eyes turned misty, and she reached over to gently squeeze Yu Holea’s hand, her grip warm and supportive.
"You’re so selfless, child," Cai Bao said, her tone filled with sadness. "But this isn’t right. This isn’t fair to you at all."
Qiao Li’s face darkened, and she turned to Qiao Jun with an angry expression, her voice almost shaking with fury.
"How can you stand there like that, Brother Jun? She’s heartbroken, and all you can do is stand there looking indifferent. Do you really not care at all? Do you realize how selfish you’re being right now?"
Qiao Jun’s expression wavered for just a moment, his gaze flickering towards Yu Holea’s tearful face.
But he took a deep breath, steadied himself, and responded with a tone that was laced with resolve.
"Li, Zixin, Grandma, all of you... I understand how you feel. But I’ve made up my mind. I won’t change it, and I refuse to be pressured into a decision that I don’t feel is right. This is my life, my choice."
Yu Holea’s shoulders slumped, her face pale as she gazed around the room, her expression one of weariness. Her voice was soft, but the pain in it was unmistakable.
"Everyone, please... I don’t want to make this harder for anyone. I... I accept Jun’s decision. I think...
I think maybe I’ve held on too long, hoping he’d remember, hoping things would get back to how they used to be."
She paused, her gaze flickering toward Qiao Jun, her eyes filled with a sadness that seemed to pierce through him.
"But maybe it’s time for me to let go too. I don’t want to be a burden. I just... I just wanted to see him happy."
Cai Bao’s voice trembled as she looked at her grandson with a frown.
"If this is truly what you want, Jun, then you will be making the biggest mistake of your life. This isn’t just about you; it’s about all of us, and you’re breaking this family apart."
Qiao Li shook her head, her lips pressed into a thin line.
"Fine, Jun. If you insist on doing this, go ahead. But don’t expect any support from me. You’re losing more than just a fiancée here. You’re losing all of us."
Qiao Jun was truly scared by their expression and told Yu Holea through telepathy,
’Wifey I am truly scared. You won’t double-cross me, right?’
Yu Holea chuckled in her heart.
’I won’t.’
A little punishment won’t hurt. Yu Holea secretly thought.
After all, Qiao Jun’s actions and his conversation with Rong Xue did hurt her. So it wasn’t too late to collect interest, right?
Suddenly Yu Holea said in a tearful voice,
"Mom, Dad, grandma, please do so as Mr. Qiao is telling. And please make a proper agreement for the break up of the engagement."
Yu Holea’s words stunned the Qiao family as well as Qiao Jun who hurriedly asked through his telepathy,
’Wifey, what are you telling? This wasn’t in the plan! No! We can’t draw up an agreement!’
Even though Qiao Jun trusted Yu Holea a lot, he knew that all things could go wrong if an agreement was drawn up.
If an agreement was drawn up, how would he claim his fiance once the drama was over? What about those brats who are waiting for his wife to be single so that they can pursue her?
No!
Most importantly if an agreement was drawn up, all the power would go in Yu Holea’s hand. What if she changes her mind midway, and doesn’t want to destroy the agreement?
If she disagrees to continue the engagement after he dealt with Aunt Mila, he won’t be able to meet her.
Not only the Yu brother but his own sister might be not on his side!
For some reason, he kept on feeling as if Yu Holea was preparing something against him.
Even though his girlfriend is innocent most of the time when she starts to scheme against him he doesn’t know whether he will be able to remain unscathed.
So the agreement can’t be drawn up.
"No, I disagree." Qiao Jun’s voice echoed through the living room, his sudden outburst causing the entire family to turn and stare at him in surprise.
"No, I disagree," he repeated, his face paling as he realized how panicked he sounded.
He cleared his throat, trying to regain his composure as he shot Yu Holea a wary look.
"An agreement is... unnecessary. We don’t need to formalize anything like that."
Yu Holea’s expression didn’t soften. Instead, she looked away, tears glistening as she held Cai Bao’s hand tightly.
"Jun, I don’t understand why you’re so opposed to this," she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.
"I just want things to be clear between us. After all, if you’ve made your decision to end things, shouldn’t we make it official?"
Cai Bao frowned, her gaze shifting from Yu Holea to Qiao Jun.
"She’s right, Jun. If you’re truly set on breaking this engagement, we owe it to Holea to make it formal. We can’t just leave her without any security after all she’s done for this family."
Qiao Li crossed her arms and fixed her brother with a stern look.
"I agree with Grandma. It’s the least you can do. It’s only fair after what you’re putting her through."
Qiao Jun’s hands clenched at his sides as he watched his family close ranks around Yu Holea.
He cast a desperate glance at her, pleading silently through their telepathic link.
’Wifey, please... don’t do this. You know I don’t mean any of this.’
Yu Holea’s lips curled into a faint, almost imperceptible smile as she answered him telepathically.
’You started this, dear fiancé. I’m only following through with it.’
Outwardly, she kept up her tearful expression, lowering her head as if heartbroken.
"Thank you, everyone. I appreciate your support. This agreement will help me... move on."
