Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All
Chapter 580: Calling Off The Engagement

Chapter 580: Chapter 580: Calling Off The Engagement

"Sheng Yin..." she whispered, her voice barely audible.

Sheng Yin immediately wrapped her arms around her sister, pulling her into a tight embrace. "It’s okay, Lea. I’m here."

Yu Shuchang stepped inside, glancing around before giving the sisters space. "I’ll give you two a moment," he muttered, disappearing into the living room.

Sheng Yin gently guided Yu Holea to the couch, sitting beside her.

"Tell me everything," she said softly, brushing a strand of hair away from Yu Holea’s face.

Yu Holea sniffled, her voice trembling.

"It all happened so fast. Qiao Jun called me this evening and said he needed to talk. I thought it was something minor, but then... he told me he couldn’t go through with the engagement.

He didn’t even give a reason. Just... coldly asked me to break it off."

Sheng Yin clenched her fists, struggling to keep her composure.

"Did he say anything else?"

Yu Holea shook her head, fresh tears streaming down her cheeks.

"No... everything seemed fine until now. I don’t understand why... why he’s doing this."

Sheng Yin’s eyes darkened with anger.

...............

3 hours before.

Yu Holea finished her shooting and went to take a shower.

After the shower, Yu Holea sat on her bed and started to go through emails when suddenly Qiao Jun called her.

Yu Holea smiled slightly and picked up the call.

"Hello?"

"We need to talk."

Yu Holea was surprised by Qiao Jun’s words,

"What happened?"

"I will tell you once you come to the restaurant of the hotel you are staying in."

"You are at my hotel?" Yu Holea asked in surprise. A sweet feeling enveloped her heart knowing that Qiao Jun had come to her hotel just to meet her.

Without a second thought, Yu Holea agreed and started to get ready.

Just when she came out of her room, she saw Vivian coming out of her room too.

Vivian was dressed in a beautiful black mini-dress and had sexy makeup on. When she saw Yu Holea, a mocking smile appeared on her face and she asked,

"Yu Holea? Are you going downstairs?"

Yu Holea rolled her eyes and walked toward the elevator without answering her.

Vivian wasn’t discouraged and followed behind,

"Today you will get a good gift, I promise you."

Yu Holea’s eyes narrowed,

"What do you mean?"

Vivian’s smirk deepened, her eyes gleaming with a mixture of amusement and malice as she stepped into the elevator beside Yu Holea.

"Oh, you’ll find out soon enough," she said, her tone dripping with condescension.

Yu Holea crossed her arms, her patience already thinning.

"I don’t have time for your games, Vivian," she muttered, her voice cold. "Whatever you’re trying to pull, it won’t work."

Vivian laughed softly, leaning against the elevator wall as they descended.

"I’m not pulling anything. I’m just saying... you might want to prepare yourself. Not everything is as perfect as you think it is."

When they reached the hotel restaurant, Vivian winked at her before strolling away, her heels clicking sharply against the marble floor.

Yu Holea ignored her, scanning the room for Qiao Jun.

She spotted him at a corner table, his expression unusually grim as he sipped from a glass of water.

Taking a deep breath, Yu Holea walked over, her heart pounding in her chest.

"Jun," she greeted with a soft smile, but it faltered when he didn’t look up right away.

Qiao Jun’s gaze remained fixed on the table for a moment before he finally glanced at her, his eyes distant and cold.

"Sit," he said simply, his tone devoid of the warmth she was used to.

"What’s going on?" she asked, her voice laced with concern.

Qiao Jun took another long sip of water before setting the glass down with deliberate slowness.

"We need to end this, Holea," he said, his voice flat, almost rehearsed. "I can’t marry you."

The words hit Yu Holea like a slap to the face. She blinked, trying to process what he had just said.

"What... what are you talking about?" she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.

"I’m calling off the engagement," Qiao Jun repeated, avoiding her gaze. "It’s for the best."

"For the best?" Yu Holea’s heart pounded in her ears, her hands trembling slightly.

"Wait! I know what is happening to you..." Before Yu Holea could finish her words, Qiao Jun interrupted her,

"No, you don’t. The only thing that I want you to know is...I am calling off the engagement." Qiao Jun said, his head was lowered, making it difficult for Yu Holea to know what he was feeling.

"Did I perhaps make any mistake?" Yu Holea asked softly. She felt maybe someone was creating a misunderstanding between them.

Qiao Jun shook his head, his expression tightening.

"It’s not you, Holea. It’s me. I just... I can’t do this anymore. I’m sorry."

Yu Holea’s breath hitched as panic surged through her.

"But why? You owe me more than this. You can’t just walk away without an explanation."

How can the things she had worked hard for suddenly seem so far?

Is it because of Aunt Mila’s hypnosis?

Yu Holea’s mind cleared up instantly and she said,

"Let’s talk later. When you are in your right mindset."

Before Qiao Jun could respond, a voice interrupted them from behind.

"Well, isn’t this interesting?"

Vivian sauntered over to their table, her eyes gleaming with satisfaction as she looked between Yu Holea and Qiao Jun.

"I see you’re finally telling her the truth," she said, her voice dripping with mock sympathy.

Yu Holea’s blood ran cold.

"Vivian, what are you doing here?"

Vivian shrugged nonchalantly, flipping her hair over her shoulder.

"Oh, I’m just here to enjoy the show. But since you’re already so confused, let me help you out.

You see, my brother had enough of you. He doesn’t want to continue to play with you. It’s better if you save yourself some dignity and leave.

He did love you before, but now...he doesn’t. He doesn’t love you anymore. In fact, he has fallen for someone else.

A week ago he met someone else who he genuinely started to love. So please be smart and make a way for their love."

Yu Holea’s heart skipped a beat as Vivian’s words sank in.

The casual cruelty in her voice, the way she claimed to know what Qiao Jun wanted—it all felt like a nightmare.

But Yu Holea couldn’t let herself believe it. Not without hearing it from Qiao Jun directly.

She turned to him, her eyes searching his face for any sign of denial. But all she saw was the same distant, conflicted look, and it made her chest tighten painfully.

"Is that true, Jun?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper. "Is this what you really want?"

Qiao Jun’s jaw clenched, his eyes still refusing to meet hers.

For a moment, he looked like he might say something, but instead, he remained silent, his shoulders stiff with tension.

Vivian chuckled darkly, clearly enjoying the situation.

"Oh, sweetie, he’s not going to answer you. He doesn’t have the guts to admit that he’s done playing this little game."

Yu Holea’s fists clenched at her sides, a wave of anger surging through her.

"This isn’t a game, Vivian," she snapped, her voice trembling with emotion. "You don’t know anything about us."

Vivian raised an eyebrow, her smirk deepening.

"Oh, don’t I? Let me tell you something, Yu Holea. My brother has been under a lot of pressure lately. The engagement?

Maybe he accepted your proposal just because he didn’t want to embarrass you at that time. But now...now that he was away from you, and from your black magic, he understood whom he truly loves."

Yu Holea didn’t believe Vivian’s word.

How could she?

She remembers each and every moment when Qiao Jun confessed how much he loved her.

If he was truly under pressure at that time, he would have simply walked away or later broke off the engagement but he didn’t!

She still remembered how touched he was when she proposed to him.

He even once said,

"Lea, if you hadn’t proposed to me, I would have. I truly love you."

He even said ’I love you.’

Yet...

The fact was...she was the only one who remembered all those memories. He doesn’t.

Once Qiao Li told Yu Holea, that in a relationship the now who remembers every single detail, always ends up getting hurt the most.

At that time Yu Holea felt it was flimsy dialogue. But now...when she felt her heart breaking into a million pieces, her chest aching and a lump in her throat, she understood that Qiao Li was telling the truth.

It was indeed hurtful...

A lot...

However...

However Yu Holea didn’t want to give up, hence she stood up abruptly and said to Qiao Jun,

"I will give you time of 2 weeks. It would be better if you could stay away from Aunt Mila and Vivian, and give time to yourself. We will talk then."
