Yu Holea chuckled,

"Is that so? Then let’s see. Whether the truth can be hidden till the manipulator makes his safe escape."

Yu Mei’s eyes narrowed. Though she had a plan in her mind, Yu Holea was too calm...

It was as if...as if she knew everything. But does she? If she knew everything she couldn’t be so calm.

Wait...how did she know about the camera? Using her mystical energy?

Yu Holea suddenly leaned near Yu Mei’s ears and said softly,

"Don’t think too much, even after utilizing your entire brain you won’t be able to come up with any plan that might trap me."

Yu Mei indifferently glanced at Yu Holea and turned to leave,

"Oh right... I and my childhood sweetheart are going to get engaged soon, when the engagement party is announced I will send you the invitation card, after all my childhood sweetheart was once your crush."

Saying so she turned to leave.

Yu Holea rolled her eyes and turned to leave too, but suddenly she realized that Qiao Jun wasn’t moving.

She looked at him with a question in her eyes.

"Let’s go."

"Was she telling the truth?" Qiao Jun asked with a dark look in his eyes.

Right now, all he could feel was a bitter feeling welling in his heart.

So she liked someone else first? That means he is not her first crush, right? Who was the guy whom she had a crush on?

Why does he have the urge to...kill that guy?

Strangely the mere thought of Yu Holea liking someone else made Qiao Jun so uncomfortable that he wanted to know about the guy.

He even had the urge to ask whether her first crush was much better than him? Otherwise, why would she like that guy first?

Yu Holea raised an eyebrow,

"Hey...where is the smell of vinger coming from? It’s so strong!"

Saying so she swatted her hand in front of her nose.

Qiao Jun’s grip on Yu Holea’s hand tightened ever so slightly, his expression hardening, though he tried to keep his voice steady.

"I’m not jealous," he muttered, his eyes avoiding hers, but the clench in his jaw told another story.

Yu Holea, amused by his reaction, leaned in closer, her teasing tone making him shift uncomfortably.

"Oh really? Because it seems like you’re burning with jealousy, Qiao Jun."

Anyways he was not holding her hand too tightly. Even Qiao Jun might not have realized but he was careful to not hurt her.

He scoffed, letting go of her hand abruptly.

"Why would I be jealous? I was just curious, that’s all. It’s just... odd to hear that you had a crush on someone before." His voice was calm.

Yu Holea chuckled, thoroughly enjoying how riled up he was.

"Curious, huh? Well, if you’re that curious, I might just tell you who it was," she teased, tapping her chin as if deep in thought.

Qiao Jun’s brows furrowed, and before he could stop himself, he blurted,

"Was he better than me?" The second the words left his mouth, he regretted it.

His pride wouldn’t allow him to show how much this was affecting him, but the thought of her admiring someone else first gnawed at him.

Yu Holea tilted her head, a sly smile dancing on her lips.

"Better than you? Hmm, that’s a tough one. Maybe in some ways..."

The previous Qiao Jun who for some reason since their first meeting kept on trying to find ways to tease her...was indeed much better.

When he unfairly punished her, he apologized to her in front of everyone and even lowered his head in front of her.

The memories of the first adventure trip surfaced in Yu Holea’s mind.

That was the place where they had their first kiss.

A hint of blush appeared on her cheeks, followed by a smile.

However, Qiao Jun only felt bells ring in his ears.

Why was she smiling like that? Does she...perhaps remember her first crush?

Qiao Jun suddenly converted Yu Holea’s hand with his and locked his finger with her.

"Stop messing around. We are here for a dinner! Let’s focus on each other."

Yu Holea looked at the locked fingers and a scene flashed in her mind.

When Qiao Jun and she used to hang out and whenever Qiao Jun used to feel jealous he would either hug her, throw a tantrum, or...lock fingers with her.

One time she even asked him, what he could do by locking his fingers with hers.

At that time he used to tell her with a serious expression on his face,

"By locking fingers I mean you are entangled with me, now and forever. You can’t leave me. So even if you like some other guy in the future I will not give you away.

I am selfish Lea. I am not selfless like you. Whatever is mine, will remain mine."

Yu Hole softly asked,

"Why did you lock your finger with mine?"

Same person, same situation, and same question.

For some reason, she wanted to hear the same answer from Qiao Jun.

"What? Isn’t it just locking finger?" Qiao Jun tried to sound nonchalant.

Yu Holea paused in the track which made Qiao Jun confused,

"What happened?"

Yu Holea stared at Qiao Jun for a few seconds, before lowering her eyes and walking again.

She truly underestimated herself...

She thought she was strong and nothing could break her now. But in reality, she had become more weak, right?

Otherwise, how could a single line could break her heart so much?

How could a single line make her feel as if she was...at square one?

Taking a deep breath Yu Holea suppressed the bitter feeling in her heart and walked up to the table booked by Qiao Jun and sat down on one of the chairs.

Qiao Jun who had pulled a chair for Yu Holea felt a bit embarrassed and sat down,

As Qiao Jun sat down across from Yu Holea, he couldn’t shake the unsettling feeling in his chest.

He glanced at her, trying to read her expression, but Yu Holea’s face was calm, almost too calm.

Something about the way she paused earlier made him uneasy, but he couldn’t put his finger on it.

A quiet tension settled between them as the waiter came to take their orders.

Yu Holea smiled politely, making her choice, but there was a heaviness in the air that wasn’t there before.

Qiao Jun could feel it, but he couldn’t pinpoint what had caused the shift.

After the waiter left, Qiao Jun cleared his throat, trying to break the silence.

"You seem... distracted," he said carefully, watching her closely. "Is something wrong?"

Yu Holea looked up from the menu, her eyes meeting his. She forced a small smile, but it didn’t quite reach her eyes.

"No, nothing’s wrong," she replied, her voice light.

Qiao Jun’s mind was filled with only one thought.

Nothing’s wrong = everything is wrong!

"If you are upset with anything you can tell." Qiao Jun said softly.

Maybe she is upset because I locked my finger with hers?

The moment that thought appeared in Qiao Jun’s mind, he felt a bit upset.

Didn’t she...she was his fiance... so why did she get so gloomy just because of him holding her hand?

Maybe it was because of her first crush. Maybe she has still not gotten over her first crush and is only with him because of goodwill...

Qiao Jun’s heart was filled with an unknown emotion.

Anyhow, the dinner didn’t go as planned. Both of them had their own thought.

After dinner, Qiao Jun proposed to drop Yu Holea home, but Yu Holea declined and left on her own.

Yu Holea knew that she should have stopped and explained to Qiao Jun but her heart was tired.

She never thought that playing the role of an understanding partner could be so heartbreaking and difficult.

Once in her villa, Yu Holea took a shower and got ready for ready.

Suddenly someone knocked on her door.

When Yu Holea turned around she saw Sheng Yin.

"Ah? You have returned? How was your shoot?"

"Good." Sheng Yin said softly. "How was the dinner?"

Yu Holea smiled but didn’t answer Sheng Yin.

Her weak smile was enough to tell Sheng Yin that the dinner date went awful.

Sheng Yin walked up to Yu Holea and patted her back,

"Can you tell me what had happened?"

Yu Holea didn’t plan to hide from Sheng Yin and told everything to her.

At the end, she sighed and said,

"I am being selfish, right? When it was Qiao Jun’s turn, I never once thought it would be so hard to be understanding...and he on the other hand fulfilled the role of the understanding partner to perfection.

No complaints...no demands."

Sheng Yin patted Yu Holea’s back,

"I won’t say that you aren’t selfish...after all, without even communicating with Qiao Jun you reached such a conclusion.

Maybe he said those words out of nervousness? How come you forgot about the most important rule of a relationship?"
