Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All -
Chapter 547: Last Wish
Chapter 547: Chapter 547: Last Wish
The ghost stared at Yu Holea, his form flickering between the angry, monstrous visage and his original, innocent appearance.
He hesitated, and slowly, his twisted features softened back into those of a little boy, confused but still wary.
Yu Holea’s calm voice was like a soothing balm. "See? No harm, just a talk. I won’t exorcise you or hurt you, but I need you to listen."
The boy’s black eyes blinked at her, trying to gauge her sincerity. He finally nodded, still trembling slightly.
Yu Holea gently patted the space beside her on the sofa. "Sit here. It’s okay."
The ghost looked at her hand, then at the sofa, and hesitantly floated down to sit.
He still looked ready to flee at any moment, his gaze flickering nervously to Mrs. Ye.
"Miss Yu, what are you doing? You have to exorcise the ghost!" Mrs. Ye shouted at the top of her lungs.
"Noisy." Yu Holea frowned and flicked a talisman at Mrs. Ye.
Mrs. Ye tried to dodge but the talisman as if having eyes directly stick to her.
The ghost slowly relaxed when it saw Mrs. Ye turning silent.
Yu Holea asked gently,
"Is it alright if I call you Little Ye?"
Little Ye nodded.
"Can you tell me about yourself?"
The ghost relaxed a bit and he said quietly,
"I am Ye Jun. I am 4 years old. I love to hear stories that my dad tells me...um...I love spicy food...Ah! Now that I think...how long has it been since I have eaten some spicy food?
I want to eat something spicy!"
"Oh? What a coincidence I like spicy food. How about this I will make some for you." Yu Holea proposed.
"But..." The ghost looked at Mrs. Ye with slight fear,
"But mom doesn’t like it. Mom says that I should like sweet food if I want my father to like me!"
Yu Holea clenched her fist and continued,
"Oh? How about this, I will make some spicy food for you. We will secretly eat it and not tell your father."
The ghost of the young boy brightened up at Yu Holea’s suggestion, his eyes lighting up with the innocent excitement of a child.
His translucent form shimmered softly as he floated closer to Yu Holea, his previous wariness fading away.
"Really? You’d do that?" Little Ye asked, his voice filled with hope.
Yu Holea smiled gently and nodded. "Of course. It’s our little secret, okay?"
Little Ye giggled a genuine sound that filled the room with a strange warmth.
For a moment, he looked like any other happy child, not a lost spirit trapped between worlds.
Mrs. Ye, still unable to speak due to the talisman, watched with mixed emotions.
Tears streamed down her face as she saw her son so lively and cheerful, something she hadn’t seen since he was alive.
Yu Holea snapped her finger a talisman slowly floated toward the ghost.
The ghost was instantly frightened, but Yu Holea held him and said,
"Don’t move."
The talisman stuck to the ghost and his face changed. The taste of the spicy dumpling spread in his mouth and his eyes brightened.
He savored the taste and closed his eyes in delight.
"Wow...so tasty!"
Yu Holea smiled.
Who would have thought that Dieting Talisman could be used in such a way?
On the 5th floor of Talisman Pagoda, she had unlocked a new set of talismans.
Dieting Talisman Set.
In that set, there was a variety of talismans that could bring out the taste of various foods like cup noodles or dumplings.
It was made to fulfill the various carvings one has when they are on a diet.
Yu Holea was very surprised by such talismans and guessed that the maker of the talisman pagoda was a female for sure.
"Hm! Wow! It is so delicious! Ah! My stomach feels full." The ghost of the young boy said. "Thank you."
Yu Holea smiled and asked,
"Can you tell one wish that you want to fulfill? The deepest wish?"
"My deepest wish?" Little Ye thought for a while, before answering, "I want to play hide and seek. And I want to hear a bedtime story from my dad."
Yu Holea’s eyes softened.
"Is it alright if I am the one who tells the story?"
Little Ye thought for a while and agreed,
"Alright. But you have to tell me a good one."
"Okay."
Mrs. Ye’s flashed with guilt.
Suddenly she seemed to have remembered how Little Ye used to beg her to let his father tell him a bedtime story.
For the next hour, Yu Holea and the ghost played hide and seek.
It was childish, even Celestial Master Zhu and Hu Song found it weird.
But as time passed they saw a noticeable change in the ghost’s aura.
The ghost who looked evil and scary just a few minutes ago now looked like any 4-year-old kid.
In between he would giggle and make faces, which made Celestial Master Zhu and Hu Song smile.
Now they saw something they didn’t see earlier.
He was just a kid.
And on closer look, he looked a little lonely too...
Just what has he endured to make him look so lonely?
The only thing they found weird was...Little Ye always asked Yu Holea to hide.
After playing hide and seek, Yu Holea held Little Ye’s hand and said in a soft tone,
"Let’s go to bed."
"Okay."
Seeing Yu Holea leading Little Ye toward the second floor, Mrs. Ye shouted,
"No! No! You can’t take him to the second floor."
Little Ye’s small body trembled slightly.
Yu Holea coldly glanced at Mrs. Ye and just as she was about to argue, a stern voice interrupted their conversation,
"What is going on here?"
Turning around they saw a stern-looking middle-aged man who looked as if he was in his late forties.
Mrs. Ye’s eyes widened with fear, while Little Ye’s eyes brightened,
"Dad!"
He rushed toward the middle-aged man.
Mr. Ye was shocked.
Before he could react, Little Ye had already reached Mr. Ye and tried to hug him.
But Little Ye’s hand passed through Mr. Ye’s legs.
Mr. Ye staggered back in shock, his eyes wide with disbelief as Little Ye’s small, translucent hands passed through him.
"Dad!" Little Ye’s voice cracked with a mixture of hope and sorrow. "Dad, it’s me, Little Ye."
Mr. Ye looked down, his face pale as he finally recognized the ghostly figure before him. Tears welled up in his eyes, and he reached out hesitantly, his hand passing through Little Ye’s form just as the boy’s had.
Yu Holea stepped forward, her voice calm but firm.
"Mr. Ye, you can’t touch him. Remember he is..."
She didn’t finish her words but Mr. Ye understood her.
"His last wish is to hear a bedtime story and he wants you to fulfill it."
Mr. Ye’s breath hitched as he looked at Little Ye, his face was filled with grief and longing. "I... I can’t believe it’s really you."
Little Ye’s translucent form flickered with a hopeful glow.
"Dad, please, just one story."
Mr. Ye nodded, his hands trembling. "Okay, Little Ye. I’ll tell you a story."
"Dad can you...hug me too?" Little Ye suddenly asked.
His eyes were filled with fear of rejection and a hint of shame.
Maybe he thought he was asking for a lot of things.
Mr. Ye didn’t answer.
His heart sank.
He remembered how less he had focused on his own child.
Every time Little Ye asked for a hug, he would say he was busy.
He always thought he had a lot of time.
But now seeing Littel Ye in a ghost form, his heart started to ache.
He didn’t know why Little Ye materialized into a ghost but to know that Little Ye just wished for a bedtime story and hug, he understood how he failed as a father.
He wanted to fulfill all of Little Ye’s requests but...Little Ye’s wish to get a hug can’t be fulfilled.
Yu Holea used her mystic energy to materialize Little Ye’s body and said,
"Mr. Ye go ahead. Give him a hug."
Mr. Ye, unsure of how it was possible, took a deep breath and knelt down, looking into his son’s hopeful eyes.
He reached out, expecting his hands to pass through again, but to his surprise, he felt a soft, solid form—like mist, but tangible enough to hug.
Tears spilled from his eyes as he gently wrapped his arms around Little Ye, holding him close for the first time in what felt like an eternity.
Little Ye closed his eyes, leaning into his father’s embrace, his small form trembling as if he had been waiting for this moment for a very long time.
"Dad..." he whispered, his voice muffled against Mr. Ye’s chest. "I missed you so much."
Mr. Ye’s voice broke as he responded,
"I missed you too, son. I’m so sorry for everything. I should’ve been there more for you."
