Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All -
Chapter 496: The Truth.
Chapter 496: Chapter 496: The Truth.
The line between kindness and self-destruction became more and more clear to her.
As she was dealing with the goddess city’s matters, suddenly one day she heard a familiar yet unfamiliar voice,
"God, Let that b*tch and her daughter die!"
"Stop." Yu Holea shouted.
Lira paused the requests.
"Replay the one where a voice mentioned about dying." Yu Holea commanded.
Lira hurriedly found the voice and replayed it.
Earlier Yu Holea was suspicious, but once she heard the voice again she was sure.
The voice belonged to Old Mrs. Yu.
However, the question was...whom Old Mrs. Yu was calling b*tch?
Yu Holea had a subtle guess in her heart.
"Can you pull out all the requests this voice has made so far?" Yu Holea asked. She didn’t have much expectation but there was no harm in trying.
Surprisingly the answer was in her favor.
"Yes," Lira said and started to pull out all the requests,
"God, please let that cheating b*tch die!"
"God, if you hear me, kill that girl named Yu Holea and her mother!"
"God, please never let this secret come out!"
"God, if you are listening, please help me hide this secret! I swapped the babies to ensure that no one would know the truth!" This was a man’s voice.
Yu Holea found the voice very familiar.
"Oh sorry my lady, I played the wrong clip..." Lira was about to correct her mistake when Yu Holea stopped her,
"No wait. Replay that one too."
"God, if you are listening, please help me hide this secret! I swapped the babies to ensure that no one would know the truth!"
It was Mr. Yu’s voice.
Yu Holea’s eyes narrowed.
He swapped the babies?
But why?
And what truth he was talking about?
For the next 10 minutes, Yu Holea asked Lira to replay all requests by Old Mrs. Yu and Mr. Yu.
Except for two facts, Yu Holea didn’t get any additional information.
The first fact, Mr. Yu and Old Mrs. Yu hated her.
Second fact, Old Mrs. Yu and Mr. Yu were hiding a secret.
At this point, Yu Holea felt that the world in which she was living couldn’t be called a novel anymore.
Either it was goddess city, Yu Mei’s strange powers, or...Mr. Yu and Old Mrs. Yu’s hostility...
Yu Holea closed her eyes to remember the content of the novel.
It was a sweet pet story...but...what was such type of novel even doing in her master’s library anyway?
No...
Maybe...maybe...the place she was living in...wasn’t a novel at all...
The moment, Yu Holea realized that fact, her head suddenly started to ache and a scene appeared in her mind.
In the scene, some figures were standing in a red magic circle, chanting some strange words.
"Ahhhh!" Yu Holea’s eyes widened and her heart started to ache.
A strange kind of fear engulfed her.
Even though she knew that the scene was not real, Yu Holea couldn’t stop herself from screaming,
"No! No! Stop! Stop! Please!" She begged.
The scene can only be seen by Yu Holea. This caused Lira and Sir Aldric to be stunned by Yu Holea’s sudden outburst.
From their perspective, Yu Holea’s beautiful black eyes were emitting a strange red color.
It was a terrifying scene. And from Yu Holea’s expression, it was clear she was about to lose something very precious to her.
"My lady? My lady? What happened!" Lira shook Yu Holea’s shoulder.
However, Yu Holea was so lost in the scene, that Lira couldn’t wake her at all.
She could only watch helplessly as Yu Holea begged. The scene was so heartbreaking that even Sir Aldric’s eyes reflected hurt.
"Wait, I will inform goddess." Sir Aldric left right after finishing his words.
"No! No! Please." Yu Holea cried out.
She didn’t know what those figures were doing. She only knew one thing. Something very ominous was about to happen and if she left them continued, the end would not be good...
However, the ritual continued. Despair overwhelmed Yu Holea and her eyes started to turn entirely black.
Even Yu Holea was not aware of these changes, but Lira who was standing beside watched it. Her eyes started to widen in horror.
"No! My Lady, you can’t! My lady!"
How could Lira be not aware of what was happening to Yu Holea? Especially when all the candidates of the goddess city suffered the same fate as Yu Holea!
Just a year ago, all the candidates of the goddess city were smart and innocent, but when that even happened... all of them turned into vicious person.
Their IQ dropped, they were filled with malice and they started to scheme against each other.
No doubt, scheming existed in the goddess city long before but...it was never to the point it could be called a cutthroat situation, like now...
All because of that thing...
And now even Yu Holea was suffering from it.
Lira didn’t dare to think of what could possibly go wrong if even Yu Holea was affected.
When the goddess arrived at the Justice Hall, she almost lost her footing.
The scene was too familiar. After all, she had seen the same scene 9 times.
Yu Holea’s eyes were black entirely and her aura was gloomy. Her eyes were emitting red light.
She looked as if she was on the verge of breaking down.
"We are late..." The goddess’s voice trembled as she said those words.
If she was informed before Yu Holea’s eyes turned black, there might be chances of saving her but now...it was completely impossible.
"No! Goddess, you can’t give up! My lady...My lady will not lose her rationality like others! Please...please don’t give up on her! I beg you!" Lira knelt as she begged.
The goddess remained silent. Her aura turned melancholic.
She had seen this before, and the outcome was never favorable.
The candidates who had succumbed to the darkness had become twisted, their noble intentions perverted into malevolent schemes.
"Lira, Sir Aldric," the goddess began, her voice strained,
"I am afraid we may have to prepare for the worst."
Lira’s heart shattered at the goddess’s words.
She refused to believe that Yu Holea would follow the same path as the others. Her loyalty and love for her lady were unwavering.
"No, goddess!" Lira cried out,
"There must be something we can do. We cannot lose her like this. My lady is different. She’s stronger, purer. We just need to find a way to reach her."
The goddess didn’t reply to her.
In reality, Yu Holea wasn’t truly hopeless. As long as she can trust the voice leading her out, she breaks away from the darkness.
Every candidate got this chance...
The chance of getting called by the voice they trust the most.
But the problem was, in Yu Holea’s case...the one who could lead her out was in a coma.
"Goddess, can’t we imitate Mr. Jun’s voice?" Lira asked. Her tone was desperate.
As Yu Holea’s assistant, she knew many things. Including Yu Holea’s fiance.
A complicated look appeared in Goddess’s eyes. But since her face was covered by a veil, neither Lira nor Sir Aldric could see it.
"No, we can’t." The goddess sighed.
Suddenly, a golden light started to envelop Yu Holea...
"Huh? Goddess what is that..." Sir Aldric pointed at the golden light.
Even the goddess was baffled at this point.
Yu Holea’s eyes started to turn back to normal.
"It’s her mask." Lira guessed. Hope appeared in her eyes.
Sir Aldric didn’t think so.
"No, it’s not her mask. She struggling to fight against the darkness." The goddess analyzed.
"Ph- Ph-Candidate Phoenix too was enveloped in a golden ray of kindness due to her good deeds. This golden light represents her fight against the darkness."
Yu Holea’s eyes fluttered as the golden light wrapped around her, pulsating with a warmth that seemed to push back the encroaching darkness.
Her breath came in ragged gasps, the internal battle manifesting in every strained muscle and tear-streaked cheek.
Lira clasped her hands together, silently praying for her lady’s strength to prevail.
Sir Aldric stood beside her, his usually stoic expression marred by worry.
The goddess had seen this struggle before, but never had it been so intense, so full of raw determination.
"This is unprecedented," she murmured.
"Yu Holea’s spirit is fighting back with a force I have never witnessed."
Suddenly she thought of a question,
"Why did she suddenly start to show signs of this darkness? What triggered this? There must be a reason."
Lira wasn’t in state in a good state, so Sir Aldric replied on her behalf.
The goddess’s eyes narrowed,
"No...there must be something else..."
"Goddess, I have a suggestion...maybe it will be helpful." Sir Aldric tried his best to suppress the panic in his heart.
"Say."
"Why don’t you...see my lady’s past? Maybe...maybe you can find something useful."
The goddess shook her head,
"I can’t... In fact not only me...but even Yu Holea herself won’t be able to know her past."
