Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All -
Chapter 459: Resentment
Chapter 459: Chapter 459: Resentment
Did she miss a talisman?
She glanced around, scrutinizing every corner, searching for any talisman she might have missed.
She examined the walls, the ceiling, and even the floor, but found no remaining talismans. Every protective charm had been removed, leaving Junjie vulnerable.
She couldn’t understand why the dark entity hadn’t seized this opportunity.
"Couldn’t find the last talisman?" A soft voice asked.
The woman was stunned and turned around, only to find a female figure standing at some distance from her.
Whoosh.
Before the woman could react the female figure attacked and shot a ray of blue light that blinded her.
"Ahhh!"
The woman fell to the ground and the lights suddenly turned on.
Yu Holea looked at the maid who had prevented her from entering Junjie’s room the last night and narrowed her eyes.
"Master Yu? Is she the one who was harming my son?" Mrs. Zhao asked in a suspicious tone.
Yu Holea nodded,
"She was the one who had offered your son’s son soul."
As she said that sentence a glint flashed past in her eyes.
Earlier when she had listened to Mrs. Zhao and Mr. Zhao’s story, she was confused. If what they said was true then...why was that entity hellbent on claiming that Zhao Junjie was his?
It was clear that someone had offered Zhao Junjie’s soul to the entity and hence he had said those lines.
But the question was who would do it?
Yet...
There was still one answer that was left unattended.
"You can’t offer someone you don’t have any blood relationship with. So how did she succeed?" Yu Holea muttered and the middle-aged woman’s face turned pale.
She suddenly bit her teeth and before Yu Holea could react, foam started to come out of the woman’s mouth.
The room was thick with tension as the woman lay convulsing on the floor, foam bubbling from her mouth.
Yu Holea immediately knelt beside her, trying to assess the situation. Mrs. Zhao, standing nearby, looked horrified, her face pale with fear and confusion.
"Quick, we need to help her!" Mrs. Zhao exclaimed, her voice trembling.
Yu Holea shook her head.
"There’s no time for conventional help. She had taken a dangerous poison."
With swift, practiced movements, Yu Holea inserted acupuncture needles into specific points on the woman’s body.
"This might stabilize her long enough for us to get answers as well as sustain her. Ask one of the maids to bring..." she explained as she worked.
Soon the herbs that Yu Holea asked for arrived and Yu Holea hurriedly made the maid drink spiritual water, and then she made the maid drink the medicine.
The woman’s convulsions began to slow, her breathing becoming shallow but steady. Her eyes flickered open, and she looked up at Yu Holea with fear.
"Why?" Yu Holea demanded, her voice firm but not unkind.
"Why did you offer Junjie’s soul?"
Zhao Junjie was only a 15-year-old child, yet he had to go through all of those fearful things, didn’t the maid feel even a bit guilty?
The woman’s eyes flicked to Mrs. Zhao, then back to Yu Holea.
"You... you wouldn’t understand," she whispered, her voice weak but laced with bitterness. "I had no choice."
"No choice?" Mrs. Zhao echoed, stepping closer.
"What are you talking about?"
The woman coughed, a trickle of blood appearing at the corner of her mouth.
"I am his paternal aunt!"
"What nonsense!" Mr. Zhao shouted.
He doesn’t remember having any sisters.
"I am your sister! Half-sister to be precise!"
The room was filled with an eerie silence, the tension palpable as the woman’s words hung in the air.
Mrs. Zhao’s eyes widened in disbelief, her grip on Junjie’s hand tightening. Mr. Zhao’s face turned ashen, confusion and anger battling for dominance.
"You... you’re his half-sister?" Mr. Zhao stammered, his voice shaking.
"This is madness. We don’t have any such relative."
The woman, still struggling to breathe, nodded weakly.
"It’s true. My mother and your father weren’t in an official relationship. My mother died when I was young, and I was raised by our father in secret.
We never spoke about it, but I am your sister, Junjie’s aunt."
Mr. Zhao was in disbelief,
"What the heck..."
He muttered.
The maid continued,
"I never was given the right to raise my head, everyone called me an illegitimate child. Because of my existence, father loved you even more, feeling guilty and what did he leave to me?
10,000 yuan! Why? Why didn’t he give me 50% of shares like he did for you. Why didn’t he give me 10 villas and marry me off to a rich family?
I was his child too! But he only looked after you! Why?" The maid asked angrily.
Her eyes were filled with tears.
"But still! He is your nephew, how could you harm him? And why did you harm him in the first place?"
The maid didn’t answer and remained silent.
Yu Holea took out a truth pill and popped it into the maid’s mouth.
The maid started to answer truthfully against her will,
"I married a poor guy and he needs money to start his business. I started to ask for help but no one was ready to help me, even my father didn’t give me a single yuan.
Just as I was on the verge of losing hope, I stumbled across a dark entity. It promised to fulfill all my desires in exchange for a soul. I agreed thinking that once my husband got rich I could easily get a soul.
The entity gave me 10 years and I thought I had a lot of time, but who would have known that once my husband became famous he would kick me out and don’t even give me a dime?
On top of that, it happened just when the time was about to run off. The entity again gave me another offer to spare my own soul if I could provide another blood relative’s soul.
The time limit was 7 months, I knew that even if I tried pregnancy I won’t be able to complete the offer.
That was until I got a job in the Zhao Mansion and saw my brother’s son. At first, I thought about sacrificing my brother’s life, however, the entity rejected the idea, saying it preferred the soul of a younger blood relative.
That’s when I realized Junjie was the perfect candidate."
Mrs. Zhao’s face turned white with shock and anger.
"You sacrificed my son for your own selfish gain? How could you? He’s just a child!"
The maid’s eyes filled with tears, her voice trembling as she continued under the influence of the truth pill.
"I didn’t see any other way. I was desperate, and the entity’s demands were relentless. I had no choice. I thought I could protect myself and still find a way to save him in the end.
Not to mention, even if he dies, he is just paying off his father’s debt! Because of his(Zhao Junjie’s) father(Mr. Zhao), I was treated unfairly by our father(Mr. Zhao’s father).
So if Junjie could sacrifice himself, I would let go of the resentment!"
Mrs. Zhao’s anger flared, her eyes narrowing with a fierce protectiveness.
"You dare to speak of resentment and fairness when you have plotted against an innocent child? Your bitterness has clouded your judgment completely."
Yu Holea sighed.
In fact, she could somewhat understand the maid’s desperation.
She was treated unfairly. She loved her father, but her father never loved her and even declared his bias towards Mr. Zhao by giving him 99.99% of his property.
However, even when she let go of her resentment and helped her husband, all she got in return was betrayal.
At last, she lost her mind and did such a thing...
She was indeed pitiful...
However, this doesn’t justify her action.
Mr. Zhao suddenly said,
"You can have the money."
The maid was stunned,
"What?"
"You can have all the money, I will also personally apologize." Mr. Zhao said in a clear voice.
Mrs. Zhao was angry and she shook his hand,
"Do you know what you are saying?"
"I know." Mr. Zhao said.
The maid was looking at Mr. Zhao in a daze.
After her obsession to become rich, her second obsession was to see Mr. Zhao beg and now he was ready to fulfill her obsession, how could she...not feel excited?
Mr. Zhao continued,
"However...you will have to return the past 1-month Junjie had lost. You have to undo the harm you have caused to Junjie."
The maid turned silent.
She truly couldn’t do so.
"What happened?"
"How can I undo what has already happened? Change the condition." The maid argued.
"Why can’t you undo those actions?" Mr. Zhao asked.
"Because I didn’t know that you would offer me this request in the future, if you had then I would have left a leeway!" The maid said after some hesitation.
Mr. Zhao chuckled,
"How strange, you harbored resentment towards us, even though I didn’t know about you..."
