Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All
Chapter 458: Qiao Jun’s Worry

Chapter 458: Chapter 458: Qiao Jun’s Worry

Qiao Jun sighed heavily on the other end of the call, clearly reluctant to show himself.

"Lea, you don’t need to go to such lengths," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I just don’t want you to worry."

"I’m already worried," Yu Holea replied firmly. "Now, show me your face."

There was a moment of hesitation before Qiao Jun finally shifted his phone to let the light fall on his face.

Yu Holea’s heart clenched at the sight. Qiao Jun looked pale and exhausted, with dark circles under his eyes.

"Jun, what happened?" she asked, her voice softening with concern.

Qiao Jun smiled,

"Nothing I just had a nightmare."

"What nightmare?" Yu Holea asked in a concerned voice.

For some reason, Yu Holea remembered the nightmare she had when she was in Capital City.

"Nothing."

"I want you to share it!" Yu Holea said. Her expression was stern and it was clear that she wouldn’t take no for an answer.

Qiao Jun sighed, rubbing his forehead wearily.

"Alright," he relented.

"It was... strange. I was in a dark place, unable to see anything clearly. There were voices, whispering things I couldn’t understand.

Then, suddenly, I saw you, but you were in danger. Something was trying to hurt you, and I couldn’t reach you, no matter how hard I tried."

Yu Holea’s heart ached at the fear in his voice.

"Jun, nightmares are often our fears manifesting in our sleep. But I promise you, I’m safe. I’m more worried about you right now."

However, in her heart Yu Holea was relieved.

Maybe Qiao Jun was worried about her and kept on thinking about her hence he had such a dream...

Qiao Jun nodded, though his eyes remained troubled.

"I know. It’s just hard to shake off. It felt so real."

Yu Holea took a deep breath, trying to steady her own emotions. She needed to be strong for both of them.

"I understand, Jun," she said gently.

"But remember, I’m right here. We’ll get through this together. Not to mention I am so strong what wrong could possibly happen to me?"

Qiao Jun’s eyes softened, a hint of a smile touching his lips.

"Yeah, my girlfriend is the strongest!"

Yu Holea chuckled.

The couple chatted for a long while before, going to bed.

Yu Holea insisted on keeping the phone call on. Qiao Jun agreed.

Soon Yu Holea fell asleep.

Qiao Jun looked at Yu Holea’s beautiful face and he was instantly worried.

The dream that he said to Yu Holea was a lie.

The dream which he had was... too unbearable.

He saw that he was going to meet Yu Holea and Yu Holea was sitting in a coffee shop.

As he was crossing the road, a strange wave hit his mind. Suddenly a truck appeared out of nowhere and hit him.

"Jun, look out!" He heard Yu Holea scream.

But it was too late. The truck struck him with a sickening thud, sending him flying through the air.

Time seemed to slow as Yu Holea watched in horror, unable to move as the tragedy unfolded before her eyes.

Yu Holea reached him and looked at the red blood pooling beneath his motionless body.

"Qiao Jun!" she cried, dropping to her knees beside him.

Her hands shook as she gently cradled his head, praying desperately for some sign of life.

But he lay still, his eyes closed, his face pale and lifeless.

In fact, he didn’t lose consciousness and was able to hear Yu Holea.

He could even feel the tears that fell from Yu Holea’s cheeks.

"Please! Please! Open your eyes! Help! Help!" Yu Holea shouted and Qiao Jun wanted to wake up and hug her.

He wanted to calm her, but his body seemed to have stopped listening to his command.

He felt Yu Holea placing her hand on his wrist to measure his heartbeat, he felt how she inserted the acupuncture needles in his body.

How when she failed, she called the doctor.

He watched till he handed him over to the doctors and collapsed on the ground.

The sadness and the heartache he felt was so surreal that Qiao Jun started to doubt whether it was a dream or not...

As he lay there in his bed, staring at the ceiling, the images continued to haunt him.

He could still hear Yu Holea’s anguished cries, and feel her trembling hands as she desperately tried to revive him.

It had felt so real, so terrifyingly real.

Qiao Jun’s heart raced with residual fear. He couldn’t shake the feeling of dread that clung to him like a shadow.

The dream had been too vivid, too detailed to simply dismiss as a product of his imagination.

He reached for his phone and looked at Yu Holea through the phone.

Looking at the peacefully sleeping Yu Holea, Qiao Jun caressed the phone’s screen and muttered,

"I would never let anything happen to you. I will never let you suffer so much."

He traced the outline of Yu Holea’s face on the screen with his fingertip, a tender gesture despite the physical separation between them

"I promise to protect you, no matter what," Qiao Jun vowed softly, his eyes fixed on her peaceful expression. "I’ll always be here for you, Lea."

Gently setting the phone down beside him on the nightstand, Qiao Jun closed his eyes, willing himself to let go of the haunting images from his dream.

.......................

In a dark room.

A woman sat in the circle with a star and started to chant some mantras.

The circle was made of rice and there were some strange things placed beside the woman.

A skull, a black candle, and various herbs were arranged meticulously around the circle where the woman sat.

She wore a flowing robe, embroidered with symbols and runes that glinted in the faint candlelight.

Her eyes were closed in deep concentration as she chanted ancient mantras, her voice resonating with a rhythm that seemed to harmonize with the stillness of the room.

Suddenly, a subtle shift in the atmosphere was palpable.

As she concluded her ritual, the woman slowly opened her eyes, gazing into the dimly lit room with anticipation.

Before the woman could react, she was hit by the wind and crashed into one of the walls.

The woman was in so much that she wanted to die but she knew it was a luxury for her.

"After betraying me, you dare to summon me? Who do you think you are?"

"I am sorry my lord, I never planned to betray you. Who would have thought that, that small girl would truly be an exceptional celestial master?"

"I don’t care! Do you know how much resources I had invested to control Junjie’s soul? But that celestial master ruined every single thing!"

The woman didn’t dare to reply to the dark entity.

"Now you know how to keep your mouth shut? I am telling you, if you don’t hand over Junjie’s soul I will take away yours!"

The woman’s body trembled and she shook her head,

"Please calm down my lord! I promise to find a way to kick that celestial master out!"

The dark entity’s voice reverberated through the dimly lit room, sending shivers down the woman’s spine as she knelt in the circle.

Her hands trembled as she clasped them together, beads of sweat forming on her forehead despite the coolness of the room.

"You think mere promises will suffice?" the entity hissed, its presence swirling around the room like a malevolent wind.

"Do not underestimate the consequences of failure, mortal. Junjie’s soul was to be mine, and now it evades my grasp because of your incompetence!"

The woman dared not meet the entity’s gaze directly, instead focusing on a point just beyond its ethereal form.

"My lord, I... I will do everything in my power to correct this mistake," she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.

"The celestial master is formidable, but I will find a way to neutralize her interference."

The entity’s dark laughter filled the room, chilling the air around her.

"You have one week," it declared with finality, its voice echoing as if from the depths of a bottomless pit.

If Junjie’s soul is not in my possession by then, you will suffer consequences far beyond your comprehension."

"First get rid of those talismans."

With those words, the presence dissipated, leaving the woman alone in the circle with a sense of dread weighing heavily on her shoulders.

She slowly exited the dark room and walked towards Junjie’s room.

On reaching the door she started to pluck out talismans.

One by one all the talismans were plucked out by her.

As the last talisman was plucked free, a shiver ran down the woman’s spine.

She knew that by dismantling these defenses, she was exposing Junjie to unforeseen dangers.

Yet, she saw no other choice but to fulfill her promise to the dark entity.

She waited for the dark entity to arrive, however to her surprise the dark entity didn’t enter Junjie’s room.

What happened? The woman was confused.
