Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All -
Chapter 408: Pan Rou’s Past
Chapter 408: Chapter 408: Pan Rou’s Past
Desperate to break free from the nightmare that held her captive, Pan Rou clawed at the air, her fingers grasping at nothing but empty darkness.
Tears welled up in her eyes as she fought against the overwhelming sense of dread that threatened to consume her.
Was she going to die?
Just like that?
But there were many things that she wanted to do!
She can’t die like this!
But just as she felt herself slipping further into the abyss of despair, a glimmer of hope flickered before her.
A warm, golden light pierced through the darkness, illuminating the room with its radiant glow.
......
A bright light erupted from the talisman, illuminating the room with a warm, golden glow. As the light spread, the illusion that had ensnared Pan Rou and Qi Zhong began to waver and dissipate, revealing the truth hidden beneath.
Pan Rou blinked rapidly, her senses returning to her in a rush as the illusion lifted. She looked around the room, her eyes widening in disbelief at the sight before her.
The once pristine surroundings now bore signs of wear and tear, the perfect facade crumbling to reveal the true state of the room. It was a stark contrast to the false reality they had been trapped in moments ago.
Qi Zhong let out a sigh of relief, the tension in her shoulders easing as the talisman’s light banished the darkness that had surrounded them. She looked at Pan Rou with a reassuring smile, grateful that they had managed to break free from the illusion’s grasp.
But their ordeal was far from over.
They soon heard a grunting voice.
When Qi Zhong and Pan Rou turned around their soul almost left their body.
Behind them was a black shadow.
The black shadow loomed ominously in the corner of the room, its form shifting and undulating like smoke. Pan Rou and Qi Zhong watched in horror as the shadow coalesced into a twisted figure, its features obscured by darkness.
"What... what is that?" Pan Rou whispered, her voice trembling with fear.
Qi Zhong shook her head, her eyes wide with terror. "I... I don’t know," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
The shadowy figure moved closer, its movements sinuous and unnatural.
Pan Rou and Qi Zhong backed away, their hearts pounding in their chests as they searched frantically for a means of escape.
But there was nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.
Suddenly Qi Zhong shouted,
"Throw a talisman!"
Pan Rou as if she had come out of some spell, touched her pockets, and took out the talisman.
Just as she flicked the talisman, a burst of bright light erupted from it, engulfing the shadowy figure in its radiant glow.
The shadow recoiled, hissing and writhing as if in agony, unable to withstand the purity of the talisman’s light.
Pan Rou and Qi Zhong shielded their eyes from the intensity of the light, but they could feel the warmth and power emanating from it.
As the light faded, the shadowy figure began to dissipate, its form taking the shape of a human appeared before their eyes.
"Huh?" Pan Rou and Qi Zhong felt their heart beating loudly as they looked at the human.
Finally, when the figure fell on the ground Pan Rou and Qi Zhong saw the person clearly.
"Mo-Mom?" Pan Rou asked with surprise.
On the ground was Mrs. Pan.
Pan Rou’s voice quivered as she spoke her mother’s name, her mind struggling to comprehend the sight before her.
Mrs. Pan lay on the ground, her form trembling and weak, her eyes wide with fear and confusion.
"Mom, what happened?" Pan Rou rushed to her mother’s side, her hands trembling as she reached out to touch her.
Mrs. Pan’s voice was barely a whisper, her breaths coming in ragged gasps as she struggled to speak.
"Rou-Rou r-r-run!Th-The- He-he is c-com-coming!"
"Who?" Pan Rou was confused and Qi Zhong was even more confused.
As Mrs. Pan struggled to speak, her words came out in gasps, each one filled with urgency and fear.
"The... the man... the one from my past," she managed to say, her voice barely audible over the pounding of their hearts.
Pan Rou’s eyes widened in shock, her mind racing as she tried to make sense of her mother’s words. The man from her past? What did that mean?
But before she could ask any more questions, a chill ran down her spine as she heard footsteps approaching from the darkness.
Qi Zhong tensed beside her, her senses on high alert as she scanned the room for any sign of danger.
Pan Rou turned towards the source of the sound, her heart pounding in her chest as she braced herself for whatever was about to come.
And then, emerging from the shadows, they saw him.
A tall figure, cloaked in darkness, his features obscured by the dim light of the room. His presence was ominous, sending shivers down Pan Rou’s spine as she watched him approach.
"Who are you?" Qi Zhong demanded, her voice steady despite the fear that coursed through her veins.
But the man remained silent, his eyes gleaming with an unsettling intensity as he fixed his gaze on Pan Rou.
Pan Rou’s breath caught in her throat as she felt a wave of unease wash over her. There was something familiar about this man, something that stirred a long-forgotten memory deep within her.
And then, suddenly, it hit her.
How could she forget this person?
Her Uncle...
The person she loved once and later detested the most...
But...but wasn’t he dead?
Pan Rou bit her lips and for a moment she felt her world spinning.
Didn’t Master Yu say that she had created a barrier or something so how...how come something like this happened?
Pan Rou was even more shocked by her uncle’s arrival.
But as her Uncle drew closer, Pan Rou noticed something unsettling about him.
His eyes, once warm and kind, now held a coldness that sent shivers down her spine. There was a darkness within him, a darkness that she had never seen before.
"Uncle... is that really you?" Pan Rou’s voice trembled as she spoke, uncertainty clouding her thoughts.
The man remained silent, his gaze piercing through her with an intensity that made her skin crawl. Pan Rou could feel the weight of his stare like a predator sizing up its prey.
Qi Zhong stepped forward, her expression wary as she addressed him. "What do you want?"
Qi Zhong was Pan Rou’s friend for a long time, hence she knew many things. Even the man standing in front of them.
Pan Rou’s father’s brother, Pan Zhijin.
Who could she forget this detestable person?
This person who claimed to love Pan Rou with his whole heart dared to assault her when her parents were away.
What was even more detestable was how he perfectly hid it till Pan Rou was 10 years old.
Thanks to Mr. Pan who one day discovered the misdeeds of Pan Zhijin and sent him to jail.
Due to some reason, Pan Zhijin died on the way to the jail.
The matter was closed but it became one of the reasons why Pan Rou’s warm family was broken into pieces.
Mr. Pan argued with Mrs. Pan and even scolded her for her carelessness.
Mrs. Pan didn’t hesitate to shift the blame to Pan Rou saying, it was just a small matter and that Pan Rou should have dealt with it on her own or at least told her(Mrs. Pan).
Mr. Pan who was angry at that time, scolded Pan Rou without even considering what she was going through.
However, when he came to his senses, Pan Rou had already turned indifferent to his affection.
Pan Rou and Mr. Pan stopped talking with each other while Mrs. Pan busied herself with the kitty parties when she understood that her husband wouldn’t be returning to the mansion as much as he used to.
Sometimes Qi Zhong truly detested Mrs. Pan and even wished that she was dead.
Pan Rou trembled when she saw her uncle and asked,
"Wh-What are y-you doin-doing here?"
Pan Zhijin’s eyes gleamed with a sinister light as he stared at Pan Rou, a twisted smile playing at the corners of his lips.
"Ah, little Rou Rou," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "I’ve come to reclaim what’s rightfully mine."
Pan Rou’s heart pounded in her chest as she stared at her uncle, her mind reeling from his words. What did he mean by reclaiming what was his? And why did his presence fill her with such dread?
Qi Zhong stepped forward, her expression hardened with determination. "You have no right to be here," she spat, her voice laced with contempt.
Pan Zhijin’s smile widened, a cold laugh escaping his lips. "Oh, but I do," he said, his voice oozing with arrogance. "After all, I am family, am I not?"
Pan Rou’s hands clenched into fists as she glared at her uncle, her anger bubbling to the surface. How dare he show his face after all he had done?
