Chapter 1960: Rachel Is Captured
"It seems I'll have to search slowly," Connor sighed in resignation and continued walking forward.
At that moment, he suddenly heard a series of hurried footsteps. He could sense that a large group of martial artists was approaching his location.
His expression turned puzzled because he had already killed several Blood Moon Sect elders outside the sect moments ago, and the disciples had given up resistance. There shouldn't be anyone daring to stop him now.
After a while, an elder appeared in front of him, accompanied by nearly a hundred disciples. This elder was none other than the Blood Moon Sect's Grand Elder, the only one who knew the true secret of the Cult Leader.
"Do you still dare to obstruct me?" Connor asked, looking the Grand Elder up and down with an expressionless face.
"Mr. Connor, you truly possess remarkable skills. We mobilized so many elders and disciples, even resorting to modern weapons from the Blood Moon Sect's arsenal, yet we couldn't stop your progress. I must say I'm impressed!" The Grand Elder, being of the same Sommervile ethnicity as Connor, had no trouble communicating.
"Who are you? Where is the Cult Leader?" Connor asked him with an expressionless face.
"Mr. Connor, I am the Grand Elder of the Blood Moon Sect. Our leader is currently occupied with important matters. I hope you can wait here for three hours, and after that, the leader will come to see you," the Grand Elder replied in a soft tone.
"Three hours?" Connor sneered. "If I wait here for three hours, I bet your Cult Leader will have completed his resurrection, and by then, he'll come to kill me!"
"Resurrection?" The Grand Elder's expression changed instantly, and he stared at Connor, asking, "What do you mean by that?"
"You know what I mean. Why pretend not to understand?" he replied indifferently.
The Grand Elder looked at him with complex emotions and then said softly, "It seems you know the secret of our leader."
"Don't waste time. Bring out your Cult Leader. I won't allow his success!" Connor scolded, knowing that the Grand Elder was just trying to stall for time.
"Mr. Connor, as I mentioned before, you need to wait here for three hours," the Grand Elder said in a hushed tone.
"What if I don't want to wait?" Connor asked.
The Grand Elder couldn't help but chuckle and said calmly, "Mr. Connor, you have no choice. Whether you want to wait or not, you must stay here for three hours. Afterward, I won't interfere with whatever you wish to do."
"Do you not fear that I will kill you?" Connor felt that the Grand Elder's confidence was a bit strange.
"Mr. Connor, I know your abilities, and I know I'm no match for you. But even if you want to kill me, you still have to wait for three hours. Whether you like it or not, you must wait here for three hours. After that, I won't interfere with your actions," the Grand Elder replied with a smile.
"Why?" Connor asked softly.
"Because your woman is in my hands," the Grand Elder said with a grin.
"What did you say?" Connor's eyes widened.
"Mr. Connor, look over there!" The Grand Elder pointed behind him, and a young woman, somewhat disheveled but otherwise unharmed, was brought out from the crowd.
Although Rachel appeared somewhat ragged, her hair disheveled, she seemed to be in good shape and hadn't been injured.
Connor had been worried about Rachel following him to the Blood Moon Sect, fearing for her safety. He had refused to let her come with him. However, he had forgotten that she had been following him all along, and everyone knew that he had a beautiful woman by his side.
The Grand Elder had naturally learned of this as well. However, today, Connor had come alone, so the Grand Elder had ordered an investigation to find Rachel's whereabouts. The Blood Moon Sect was a formidable force, making it easy to trace her to a hotel.
While Rachel was also a Black-level martial artist, there was still a significant gap in strength compared to the Blood Moon Sect members. The Grand Elder had seized the opportunity to capture her.
And it appeared that she had become the last card in the Grand Elder's hand.
Of course, the Cult Leader was unaware of this situation. If he found out, he would be furious because he considered the Grand Elder's actions disgraceful.
This might be the difference between martial artists from thousands of years ago and modern martial artists. In the past, martial artists valued strength above all else and didn't resort to such tactics.
"Connor, don't mind me. Hurry up and stop the Cult Leader from resurrecting!" Rachel, upon seeing Connor, couldn't hide her emotions and shouted loudly.
Connor squinted his eyes as he looked at the Grand Elder, his emotions complex. He had always avoided involving those around him in his battles, but no matter how careful he was, his enemies always found a way to draw his friends and loved ones into the conflict. This was what angered him the most.
Rachel had known about Connor's true purpose in coming here. He wasn't just rescuing Taran; he was also stopping the resurrection of the Cult Leader. If the Cult Leader succeeded in resurrecting, the consequences would be unimaginable.
"Mr. Connor, your woman is in my hands. If you dare to take a single step forward, I will have her killed!" The Grand Elder, sensing his hesitation, smiled smugly.
He stared at the Grand Elder, deep in thought, contemplating how to handle the situation. The person holding Rachel hostage was likely a Martial Master, so even if he attacked suddenly, they would have time to react and kill her. If not, the Grand Elder would certainly order her execution.
