Chapter 1958: The Last Trump Card
Chapter 1958: The Last Trump Card
After a moment, the Cult Leader of the Blood Moon Sect set up five defensive lines. He did this primarily to delay Connor and buy himself time to complete the ritual. As soon as the ritual was over, the following events would be easier to handle.
Upon receiving the orders, the disciples hurriedly rushed towards Connor's location.
On the other side, Connor was still steadily approaching the Blood Moon Sect's headquarters. The Five Elder, along with numerous disciples, had already laid an ambush on his path.
"Elders, Connor is coming!" whispered one disciple.
"Get everyone ready. As soon as he enters our ambush circle, we strike together. We must buy time for the Cult Leader at all costs!" said one of the Five Elder with an emotionless face.
"Understood!" The disciple nodded quickly.
A few seconds later, Connor walked into the ambush circle of the Five Elder and their disciples. In an instant, countless people with weapons charged toward him, their formation terrifying.
But he seemed to have already sensed the ambush nearby. A burst of energy swept out, and all the disciples who had charged toward him were struck down, none of them escaping the onslaught. In just a moment, the three hundred disciples led by the Five Elder lay writhing on the ground, their cries echoing.
Seeing this scene, the Five Elder were dumbfounded. They had thought that delaying Connor with their three hundred disciples for half an hour would be an easy task. However, they never anticipated that Connor would eliminate them in an instant.
The Five Elder knew they were no match for him, so they tried to retreat. But he didn't give them a chance. In an instant, he reached the Five Elder and delivered a powerful punch to the chest of one of them.
With this, he broke through the carefully laid first line of defense of the Blood Moon Sect in less than half a minute.
The second and subsequent lines of defense were met with the same fate. These people couldn't even pose a slight threat to him; they were mere ants in his presence.
As predicted by the Grand Elder and others, after half an hour, Connor finally arrived at the headquarters of the Blood Moon Sect.
The so-called headquarters was actually a massive fortress with walls at least five meters high. At this moment, numerous Blood Moon Sect disciples stood atop the walls, all prepared for battle.
Several Blood Moon Sect elders also stood on the walls, observing his approach.
Truth be told, these people were deeply fearful of him at this moment. They had not expected him to reach their headquarters so quickly and appear completely unharmed. They couldn't fathom how a young man in his twenties possessed such terrifying power.
On the other hand, news of Connor breaking through all the ambushes and reaching the headquarters under the city wall had reached the ears of the Blood Moon Sect's Cult Leader.
The Cult Leader of the Blood Moon Sect was also shocked by this news. "The Five Elder and the Eighth Elder couldn't stop this Connor?"
He stared at the Grand Elder and asked, his expression incredulous.
"Connor's strength is simply too terrifying. They couldn't possibly stop him," the Grand Elder replied, his expression also grim.
"Connor single-handedly broke through our entire Blood Moon Sect?" The Cult Leader's expression was filled with disbelief.
"That's right," the Grand Elder reluctantly nodded, continuing, "What should we do now?"
The Cult Leader clenched his teeth, his expression filled with anger as he shouted.
The Grand Elder lowered his head, looking rather uneasy.
"I've said before that I wanted to deal with Connor personally. If it weren't for you constantly obstructing me, I might have already killed him by now. Now, the ritual is about to begin. If you let him break in, can you bear the responsibility?" the Cult Leader angrily questioned.
"Cult Leader, please rest assured. I will absolutely not let him interfere with your ritual!" the Grand Elder said cautiously.
"You won't let him interfere with my ritual?" The Cult Leader sneered upon hearing the Grand Elder's words, then asked with a cold expression, "How can you guarantee that?"
"Cult Leader, you can prepare for the ritual with peace of mind. I will lead all the elders and disciples of our Blood Moon Sect to face Connor in battle. Until the ritual is completed, I will not allow him to step into our headquarters!" the Grand Elder said slowly.
"Can you and these useless people stop him?" The Cult Leader furrowed his brow.
"While we may not be a match for him, it won't be so easy for him to defeat us. Moreover, I still have one last trump card!" the Grand Elder said hastily.
"One last trump card?" The Cult Leader was momentarily stunned.
"Yes..." The Grand Elder nodded and continued, "Cult Leader, please rest assured. He will absolutely not delay your ritual!"
Upon hearing these words, the Cult Leader gave the Grand Elder a cold glance, took a deep breath, and said nothing more. He knew that there was no other choice now but to trust the Grand Elder to stop Connor.
After taking a deep breath, the Cult Leader began preparing for the ritual. This ritual was incredibly important to him. He had waited for a thousand years for this moment, and it was the best chance he had for his resurrection. He was unwilling to let go of this opportunity.
On the other side, when Connor arrived under the city walls of the headquarters, he showed no hesitation. He walked directly towards the main gate.
But at that moment, the city gate suddenly opened from the inside. More than ten Blood Moon Sect elders, accompanied by numerous disciples, rushed out with a tremendous aura.
When confronted by these people, he didn't display a hint of fear. He continued to move forward slowly.
"Stop!" one of the elders shouted at Connor, his expression filled with excitement.
However, he seemed as if he hadn't heard the warning and continued to advance.
"I warn you, this is a forbidden area of our Blood Moon Sect. Without the permission of our Cult Leader, no one is allowed to approach. If you continue to advance, don't blame us for being ruthless!" Threatened another elder.
