Chapter 1957: Stalling for Time

In Mount Sutie.

Tony and his subordinates, armed with modern weapons, had failed to kill Connor. Instead, they were soundly defeated by him, and Tony himself met his end at Connor's hands.

After Tony's death, the people on the scene looked towards the direction where Connor had gone with expressions of increased fear. They had not anticipated that he would actually dare to lay hands on the Third Elder and Tony.

"This person actually killed Tony. Does he intend to become our enemy in Winam?" a middle-aged man trembled as he sighed.

"He doesn't even care about the Blood Moon Sect's Cult Leader. It seems perfectly normal for him not to care about Winam," another person stammered.

"Ah..." The people couldn't help but sigh, not knowing what to do.

As Connor eliminated Tony and the Third Elder, he turned to face Tony's remaining subordinates. Seeing his gaze, they all lowered their heads and knelt on the ground, too afraid to meet his eyes. After all, he had just killed Tony, and in their eyes, they were less than ants before him.

After a moment of hesitation, he asked with a blank expression, "Which of you can speak Opranian English?"

Even after hearing his question, they kept their heads low and didn't dare to respond.

"I'm asking you, who among you can speak Opranian English?" he repeated, his tone calm.

A young man hesitated for a moment, then tremblingly stood up and whispered to Connor, "I lived in Oprana for a while..."

"Come here." He motioned to the young man.

Taking a deep breath, the young man summoned the courage to walk up to him. It was evident that he was still very fearful when facing Connor, as his body continued to tremble.

"From now on, when I ask you something, you answer me. Do you understand?" he said in a low voice.

"I understand, I understand!" The young man quickly nodded.

"Other than you people here, are there any others hiding in this mountain to ambush me?" Connor asked.

"No, there aren't," the young man shook his head.

Initially, Tony and the others didn't anticipate Connor's terrifying strength. They believed that their forces would be enough to deal with him.

"Is that the Blood Moon Sect's headquarters up ahead?" he continued to inquire.

"I'm not very sure about that. I'm not from the Blood Moon Sect!" the young man replied.

Connor knew that the young man probably wouldn't dare to lie to him now. After a moment's hesitation, he said softly, "You can all leave now, but do not return to this place. Do you understand?"

"We understand, we understand," the young man replied with great excitement. He hadn't expected Connor to spare them, and his expression was very moved.

Connor didn't pay any more attention to these people. He turned and continued walking forward. Tony's subordinates, on the other hand, ran out of the mountain like madmen after seeing him leave. They probably never wanted to return to this place in their lives.

Meanwhile, the news of Tony and the Third Elder's deaths at Connor's hands quickly reached the headquarters of the Blood Moon Sect.

"Worthless! They couldn't even stop a single Connor with so many people!" the Cult Leader roared, then stood up. "I'll personally meet this Connor now. I want to see just how capable he really is!"

"Cult Leader, the sacrificial ritual is set to begin in an hour. You must stay calm. If you miss the timing, you may have to wait another year!" the Grand Elder hurriedly advised.

The Blood Moon Sect's choice of today for the sacrificial ritual was not random. Resurrecting a soul required a very specific and rare timing, and there was only one chance each year. If they missed today, they would have to wait for another year, which was why the Grand Elder strongly advised against the Cult Leader personally confronting Connor.

The Cult Leader took a deep breath upon hearing this, then whispered, "Based on Connor's current speed of advance, how long will it take him to reach the Cult headquarters?"

"Approximately half an hour," the Grand Elder answered.

"Half an hour?" The Cult Leader's face showed some anger upon hearing this, then he said in a low voice, "The sacrificial ritual is scheduled to start in an hour and will take at least two hours to complete. What if Connor breaks in before the ritual is over?"

The Grand Elder's expression appeared somewhat unusual because once the Cult Leader started the ritual, he couldn't be distracted to engage in battle with Connor. Interrupting the ritual midway would have severe consequences for the Cult Leader.

So, when the Cult Leader spoke those words, everyone seemed caught in a dilemma, unsure of what to do.

"I have dozens of Cult Elders. Isn't there a single one who can step up and help me deal with this trouble?" the Cult Leader asked in a low voice.

At this moment, a middle-aged man stepped forward and said in a hushed tone, "Cult Leader, give me three hundred elite disciples. I'm willing to go and delay Connor!"

"Cult Leader, I may not be his match, but I can help you buy some time!" the Fifth Elder quickly responded.

"Cult Leader, count me in!"

Other cult members immediately followed suit, volunteering to help.

However, they all understood that even if they joined forces, they might not be able to defeat Connor. The information they had indicated that, apart from the Cult Leader, Connor was beyond their league. But they also knew that this was a crucial moment for the Blood Moon Sect, and everyone wanted to show their worth to the Cult Leader.

After a moment of hesitation, the Cult Leader spoke softly, "Although you are not Connor's match, you can help me buy some time. Very well!"

The Cult Leader paused for a moment and then said calmly, "Fifth Elder, lead three hundred elite disciples quickly to intercept Connor. Don't aim to kill him, just delay him for half an hour."

"No problem!" The Fifth Elder quickly agreed.

"Eighth Elder, you take another three hundred elite disciples. Wait until he breaks through Fifth Elder's defenses, then make your move. Strive to delay him for another half an hour," the Cult Leader instructed another Elder.

"Understood, Cult Leader!" The Eighth Elder nodded in acknowledgment.
