Chapter 160: His secrets
Chapter 160: His secrets
When that news came out, so did the news that the Thoran Twins had accepted a temporary transfer to the Angelic Wave Guild. This amazing event turned the city upside down and left everyone in shock.
Steward had taken the opportunity to strike at just the right time, when it was on everyone’s lips.
Although the two subjects were somewhat opposite, the fact that they were dating made many think it was a clue: The Thoran Twins had succeeded in hunting down the Shadow Crow.
Though they had failed before, no one could be sure they couldn’t succeed now, with more experience.
As a result, the city became slightly heated with conversations and rumors.
Many discussed the Shadow Crow, and others discussed the possibility of seeing the Thoran Twins, Elliot, and Jenna on the same team.
If someone had said it before, it would have sounded far-fetched and unbelievable. Now, that simply seemed to be what was going to happen.
Many guilds were frightened by this.
Elliot and Jenna had been enough trouble in their own right. Jenna demonstrated an absurd talent by reaching Master Rank in just two years.
And Elliot, well, he’s a summoner.
But now they would lump them together with the Thoran Twins, the most troublesome of the Loen-born in recent years?
Only Tyler Clark could come to stop the Twins, and he did at the time. Now there is no Tyler Clark in town...
Many were already starting to write off Angelic Wave as the winner in the Leveled Leagues. Or at least they could compete with major cities like Agora.
While others were simply silent.
Though it was a silence that denoted fear.
--
The group that had actually hunted the Shadow Crow didn’t mind this.
Andrew had to go with Steward to do some guild stuff, while Chris and Rich went to have fun that night, taking advantage of their vacation.
For Elliot and Jenna’s part, they both went to the Organization’s training room, which was a big place.
That’s because Elliot needed to do his summoning.
He brought out the Basilisk’s body first and began to look at it intently to learn its patterns.
Meanwhile, Jenna was at his side.
"I always knew you needed beast bodies to make your summons, but if you’ve killed so many, why don’t you have a lot of summons? Wouldn’t it be better to have about 100? We could basically sweep everyone in the Leagues." She asked suddenly.
Elliot paused for a moment and smiled.
"Had I told you that I’m not really a normal summoner?"
"Hmm, sort of. You told me it had something to do with energy."
"Yes. Actually, I don’t have an ability as such. More like I have a Class."
She looked at him for a few seconds before nodding. "I suspected it before."
"Haha, well. Its name is a bit... peculiar. It’s called Monarch of Energy."
"Monarch?" She was stunned. "Something so... great?"
"Haha, yeah. I still can’t figure out why it’s called that. But that Class is amazing. It has several Talents and also some Manifestations."
"M-M-Manifestations?" She stammered in shock, almost completely ignoring the fact that he had just said that his Class came with several Talents.
Many would pay more attention to that than to the 2nd, but not her.
"Are you serious? Does your Class have Manifestations?" She asked quickly, lowering her voice.
Luckily, the cameras were only on during practice in this place, so they were completely alone. That was the only reason Elliot dared to talk about it.
He was confused, but nodded at her. "Why? Do you know what they are? I’ve looked in books and tried to research on the internet, but I couldn’t find anything, other than rumors."
Jenna’s eyes flashed with intensity, but she didn’t respond quickly.
She was pensive.
A few minutes later, while Elliot was still busy checking the corpse of his next summoning, she spoke.
"...God. My father once told me there’s something only a God has."
"Hm?" He looked up to see her and stopped what he was doing. "Something only a God has?"
"The Manifestations. They are called Manifestations of Power. Apparently, they are derived from their abilities or have something to do with them. But they give an absurd advantage. It’s a god’s greatest advantage."
Elliot frowned.
’Manifestations of Power... They are derived from abilities or have something to do with them, but they give an absurd advantage...’ He repeated those words to himself in his mind.
The more he understood them, the more he frowned.
Wasn’t that just what the Manifestation - Lord of Energy was?
A Manifestation that was derived from his Class: the Monarch of Energy. And it had something to do with it. Being the Monarch of something, being able to have soldiers of that "something" was natural, so his summoning fit perfectly there.
Even more, obviously, that gave him an absurd advantage at all times. His summonings had no set strength: they could be strengthened by him.
If he eventually became a god, he might be able to elevate his invocations to the level of a God as well.
That was an absurd advantage!
Finally, he was beginning to understand more about himself. However, it was hardly basic stuff.
The important issue wasn’t that.
’They are powers that only a God has.’
That was the problem.
Where is he a God from?
He’s possibly the most miserable person in the world. He has no family, and he’s weak. He just reached Master Rank, but it’s possible that many people are looking for him to kill him.
On top of that, his greatest advantage was his greatest weakness!
He was a summoner in a world that hates and fears summoners!
Even he was aware that, if he didn’t get stronger, he might soon die.
That’s why he was about to accept Anna’s offer despite not liking being tied down.
Yes, he didn’t like being tied down. But it was better to be tied up for four years than to die.
Nothing would be accomplished if he died.
Ultimately, he turned it down just because of the circumstances, but even now, he feels he regrets it. It was a golden opportunity.
So what did he have of God?
Nothing.
Then why did he have Manifestations?
Apparently, there were many deeper things he needed to find out about his ability and class.
He finished by sighing.
"I can’t figure it out, so I can’t give you an answer to it. My abilities are not so amazing to equate me to a god. If they were, I would have erased the Clarks long ago." He smiled.
Although Jenna was just as stunned trying to figure out what kind of existence Elliot was, his little joke got her thinking about the present, and she smiled at him.
"Anyway, no one knows exactly what those things are. Maybe they’re just some kind of new power the System started giving out, and you were lucky enough to get it."
"Haha, that could be it too." He smiled and soon finished checking the basilisk’s body and every nook and cranny to learn the muscle pattern.
Then he stood up.
"Regarding why I don’t have many summonings... It’s rather simpler, but complex than you think. Actually, to have summons, I have to spend my Stat Points on them to strengthen them. They can get a lot stronger, but it depends on how much of my stats I spend on them." He replied.
Jenna couldn’t help but be stunned once again.
"You mean they would be weak if you don’t add your own points to them?" She asked.
"Yes." He nodded. "It’s a disgrace, isn’t it?"
"My goodness... that’s awful. What are they telling you to play at? If you have to strengthen many summons, you won’t even have to strengthen yourself!" She exclaimed.
Even though he had a massive bonus of being a summoner, his backhand was just as powerful.
Still, there was something amazing she discovered.
"Wait..." She spoke up and looked at him. "You... How are you so strong if you’ve had to divide your attention on strengthening your summons as well?"
Finally, Elliot could only smile and sit back to start working.
"As I told you. My Class is... special." With a mischievous grin, he began to draw his new summoning, using the body as a base.
Meanwhile, she was stunned by everything he had told her. Even the fact that he had Manifestations flashed through her mind.
She realized that there was a high probability that she was standing in front of the most talented man to ever walk the earth.
The ability to reach Master Rank at the age of 18, while still keeping his summonings quite competent and strong.
If there were anyone more talented than him, she would like to meet him only to tell him that he doesn’t live up to what he claims to be.
Elliot knew how to concentrate quickly on what he was doing. He had gotten much better at this, thanks to God’s Trials and drawing often these days. Because of this, even though the body was gigantic, he could make rapid progress.
