Fortunate to Have You This Lifetime -
Chapter 1301
Chapter 1301: Chapter 1301
Allen Rivera shook his head: "Don’t know her, I’m guessing. If her family hadn’t protected her so well, I can’t understand why she’s in her twenties and still acts like a teenage girl."
Jane McCain burst out laughing, thinking Allen Rivera’s words were quite sharp.
"Feeling better?" Allen Rivera smiled and wrapped his arms around her waist, "I usually don’t like talking bad about people behind their backs."
"Oh yeah, because you prefer to do it to their faces." Jane McCain joked, "Since you’re her boss, it’s your responsibility to educate her."
Allen Rivera neither agreed nor disagreed and said plainly, "Juliet Stewart really lost it today, if she keeps this up, she’ll have to see if any other prosecutor wants to mentor her."
Both publicly and privately, Allen Rivera believed Juliet Stewart’s behavior had many issues.
Liking someone isn’t wrong, but her mistake was bringing personal emotions into her work and taking her anger out on Jane McCain.
It was not worth it.
Thinking about how Juliet Stewart still had to write a reflection made Jane McCain’s last bit of anger dissipate.
Being called names by a mistress was certainly infuriating, but having a boyfriend stand up for you makes everything seem unimportant.
Jane McCain’s mood improved, and she joked, "Anyone who likes you is really unlucky, to not only not get a response but also get a lecture, haha..."
She laughed to herself for a while and noticed Allen Rivera’s expression unexpectedly tense, his gaze deep as he stared ahead, lost in thought.
This look made Jane McCain feel unfamiliar with him.
"What’s wrong?" Jane McCain asked nervously and softly, "Did I say something wrong?"
Allen Rivera snapped out of his thoughts, looking at her with a faint smile, "No, just thinking about something else."
Jane McCain gazed at him blankly, feeling an odd sensation in her heart, strange...
...
In the afternoon, Allen Rivera went out with the police officers, taking only Ray Cooper and Lucas Tucker with him.
Considering the suspect might be hiding in the mountains and Fiona Lake and Juliet Stewart’s physical capabilities were lacking, they were left behind.
As they were about to leave, Lucas Tucker arrived late, surprising everyone when he appeared.
Because he looked quite frightening. One of his eyes was black and blue, his mouth had bruises, and his lips seemed cracked, with traces of blood remaining.
Ray Cooper’s eyes widened: "Weren’t you fine just now? How did you end up like this? Did you fight someone?"
Lucas Tucker raised his hand to wipe his mouth lightly, responding calmly, "Nothing, just fell."
Ray Cooper’s eyes widened even more.
This type of injury, even Jane McCain could tell he’d been hit.
But he said he fell, clearly unwilling to explain the cause, maybe because he lost in a fight, too embarrassed to admit it?
"Why not leave Lucas behind?" suggested one of the leading officers at the police station, looking at Allen Rivera, "We’ve got enough manpower for this operation, Lucas can stay behind and join some support tasks. What do you think, Mr. Rivera?"
Allen Rivera glanced at Lucas Tucker, speaking indifferently: "Opportunities for field operation capture don’t come often, this experience is valuable for an intern prosecutor. His injuries are all on his face, minor aches won’t affect the operation. Let’s move out."
He finished speaking and got into the car first.
Lucas Tucker soon followed him into the car.
The remaining people glanced at each other, not delaying further, and departed successively.
The cars sped away, and Jane McCain watched the cars vanish from sight, feeling curious: How did Allen Rivera know Lucas Tucker’s injuries were all on his face?
"You noticed too?" Fiona Lake suddenly leaned over and smiled, "Lucas Tucker definitely got beaten up by Mr. Rivera again, right?"
