Fortunate to Have You This Lifetime -
Chapter 1302
Chapter 1302: Chapter 1302
Jane McCain was taken aback and turned her head to look at her, "Again?... Does he often hit Lucas Tucker?"
"I thought you knew." Fiona Lake looked disappointed. She probably hoped to get some information from Jane McCain, but Jane didn’t know anything at all.
"This... doesn’t seem right, does it?" Jane exclaimed in shock, "Hitting people..."
Fiona shook her head, "They seem to have known each other before, I don’t know the specifics. Anyway, once, I saw them come out of the men’s restroom together, Lucas had injuries on his face, obviously had been beaten... But it’s so strange, every time after a fight, they both act like nothing happened."
Jane felt even more confused after hearing this.
The longer she spent with Allen Rivera, the more she realized there were many mysteries about him.
Mystery brings attraction but also creates a sense of distance, especially in romance, making one feel uneasy.
Jane’s feelings at this moment were exactly like that.
She really feared that this romance would end abruptly like the previous times.
...
Back at the dorm, Jane idled alone with nothing to do.
She could play with her phone, browse Twitter, but she was in low spirits and didn’t have the energy for it.
One moment she thought of the shredded documents, then the abnormalities of Allen, and then wondered if Allen would be in danger in those deep mountain forests.
She looked down at the bath towel and the messy bed linen on the bed, and softly sighed.
This Wellville Town really didn’t give her any good feelings, she really wanted to leave soon...
Jane picked up her wallet, decided to go to the street to buy a new sheet, preferably buy some snacks and instant noodles too. She’d rather eat instant noodles than face Juliet Stewart in the cafeteria.
As she passed Fiona Lake and Juliet Stewart’s dormitory, the door was open, and Fiona saw her and spoke up, "Going out? I’ll go with you, you’re not familiar with this area, don’t get lost."
"I’m just going to the supermarket, won’t walk too far," Jane explained.
"Mr. Rivera instructed me before he left to look after you, let’s go together." Fiona said as she stood up and efficiently put on her coat, "I’ll also buy some drinks. Hey, Juliet Stewart, are you coming?"
"No," Juliet didn’t even look up, sitting on the bed typing on her computer.
Jane maliciously speculated she was busy writing a self-criticism.
"Didn’t you say you needed sanitary pads?" Fiona said, "I’m almost out, don’t borrow from me again."
Juliet’s face stiffened slightly, she was deeply displeased with Fiona’s blunt way of speaking.
Jane thought she wouldn’t come, but unexpectedly, Juliet reluctantly got out of bed to put on her shoes, appearing to be ready to go out.
Perhaps Fiona’s position as a senior carried some authority in front of Juliet.
The three women went together to the largest supermarket in town, each buying what they needed.
During this time, Jane and Fiona occasionally talked, while Juliet was like a sulking peacock, maintaining a haughty silence throughout.
Leaving the supermarket, they were carrying large bags of shopping at the intersection waiting for the green light.
There weren’t many vehicles in the town, but the traffic was chaotic; electric tricycles and motorcycles were darting in and out of the stream of cars, pedestrians seemed accustomed to it, hurriedly moving forward before the signal turned green.
Jane felt it was unsafe and wanted to wait, but the people behind her moved forward, causing her body to stumble two steps ahead.
Just getting stable, suddenly a huge force from behind! It pushed her straight into the middle of the street!
Screech—
An ear-piercing emergency brake, followed by the driver’s angry roar, "Trying to get yourself killed?! Crossing the street without looking?!!"
Jane was so scared she almost lost her heartbeat.
She lay dazed on the ground, took a while to regain her senses, looking around unsure where to focus her gaze, only seeing the contents of her shopping bags scattered everywhere.
Panic-stricken, she heard Fiona’s scolding nearby, "Juliet Stewart! Why did you push her?!"
