Fortunate to Have You This Lifetime -
Chapter 1270
Chapter 1270: Chapter 1270
"You said you liked him, and he happened to like you too, but you rejected him and ended up staying up all night?"
In the café, Zara Jameson stopped stirring her delicate spoon, unable to believe what she had heard, staring in shock at Jane McCain across from her.
"I don’t understand," Zara asked her again, "why did you reject him? Because of heterophobia?"
"No..." Jane sighed, "I’m not afraid of him."
"Then why did you reject him?"
"I don’t know..." Jane fretted, "I just felt that agreeing to it so quickly was strange. I’m not even sure if he’s serious."
"Do you think Allen Rivera is the type to joke about something like this?" Zara asked.
Jane pressed her lips together and answered in a low voice, "No."
Zara sighed, resting her chin in her hand as she looked at her, "What are you thinking? Are you afraid that if he’s too easy to get, he won’t cherish you, or is there still some psychological obstacle?"
Jane hesitated, glancing at Zara, "Do you think I’m suitable for him?"
"No," Zara replied bluntly.
"Why not!" Jane’s voice raised with some agitation.
It’s typical for close female friends, Zara thought, telling her what she wants to hear still leaves her hesitant, but contradicting her surely makes her unhappy.
"Look at you two..." Zara gestured with her hands, "The age difference is nine years."
Jane pursed her lips and didn’t say anything.
"And consider your jobs," Zara continued, "One is in law, the other in fashion. Do you have common topics?"
"I don’t even want to date someone in the fashion industry, it’s too superficial," Jane mumbled quietly.
Zara laughed, "Alright, alright, even if you and he balance each other out through depth, let’s look at your lifestyles. He’s a prosecutor, a public servant with the most regular routine. You sleep until you wake up naturally, stay up late drawing. You’d probably have to deal with a time difference just to go on a date."
"Is it that exaggerated..." Jane was reluctant to face reality.
Zara laughed, "Since you like him, there must be things about him that attract you. You’re certainly 100% accepting of his strengths. What we need to consider now is whether you can accept his flaws."
Jane listened with her head down, dejected.
"Can you talk to him about clothes and jewelry, will he understand? You like playing games and watching movies, will he join you? You like to travel and take road trips from time to time, does he have time to accompany you? Even if you don’t mind these things, what about him? Will he mind?"
Zara analyzed piece by piece, "After spending a long time together, will he think you are wasting your life away? You attend fashion shows and parties late into the night, coming home at midnight, can he accept that? And what about his family..."
"Ugh, the way you put it, it feels like I have no way out!" Jane collapsed onto the table in despair.
Zara laughed, "Since you need to consider, of course, you have to look at all aspects of the situation, you can’t just think about the good parts, right?"
"I’m thinking about whether I should accept him," Jane said stubbornly, "but after talking to you, I should probably consider whether he will end up disliking me instead."
Zara chuckled, "Stop thinking about it. Could you bear to reject him?"
Jane felt Zara finally hit the nail on the head.
She really couldn’t.
That night, as she walked home, filled with thoughts, Jane only realized when she reached her door that Allen Rivera’s car was parked nearby.
Jane: "..."
Allen opened the car door.
She silently walked over and got into the car.
"Maybe I was too hasty," Allen said softly, "I couldn’t focus on work all day, so I came to ask you. Have you thought it over?"
Jane was silent for a while and then asked, "Have you thought it over?"
Thought about our differences, our contradictions, whether we are truly suitable for each other?
Allen was slightly stunned, then nodded, "Of course, I’ve thought it over."
Jane pressed her lips together and smiled, "Then I’ve thought it over too."
