Chapter 72: A Chance Encounter

The naive Julia thought Kevin was concerned about her and waved her hand.

“Don’t worry, I’m fine. These are flowers for you, and breakfast too.”

As she spoke, she directly stuffed the flowers into the car.

He coldly glanced at her. “You hit someone, but you’re not taking any responsibility?”

Julia was taken aback, fearing that this incident would make him disappointed in her.

“It’s not that! I was in a rush to find you, so I... But I gave her my business card! She can contact me. Anyways, I’ll go now!”

Julia, seemingly determined, immediately walked toward Jessie.

At this moment, the light turned green and the driver slowly moved the car again.

“Young Master, shall we go check on the young madam?”

Kevin didn’t say a word until he saw Julia helping Jessie with her bicycle. After that, he looked away and replied, “I’ll see her later. Let’s head to the company first.”

Although he wasn’t fond of Julia, the Rossi family’s upbringing was still decent. She would take responsibility for the troubles she caused.

Besides, if he went over now, his identity would be revealed.

Drake nodded and instructed the driver to head to Harper Group.

Despite his initial words, Kevin’s eyes kept drifting toward Jessie’s direction.

“I’m sorry, I had something urgent just now, so I left you behind. I’ll accompany you to the hospital later,” Julia also felt a bit of regret; she shouldn’t have left the injured person for Kevin’s sake.

“It’s alright. I just twisted my ankle, so a bit of rest will do,” Jessie smiled, “Are you the young miss from the Rossi family?”

“How did you know?” Julia was surprised. f r\eew,eb novel.c(o)(m)

“You gave me your business card, remember?” Jessie chuckled, handing the card back to Julia.

She came to a realization as her voice tinged with some embarrassment. “Sorry, I forgot.”

“No worries. Are you done with your business? I saw you with flowers and a lunch box earlier. If I’m not mistaken, you’re probably after President Harper, right? Sorry, I tend to talk a lot. If I offended you, I hope you don’t mind.”

“That’s nothing.” Julia waved dismissively, not minding at all.

For some reason, she always felt a strange sense of familiarity when she saw Jessie; it was as if they had known each other for a long time.

The two helped move the bicycle to the roadside and sat down. Jessie’s ankle was swollen, so Julia immediately took out her phone. “Hold on, I’ll call an ambulance for you right now.”

“No need—I’ve already told my friend, and she will be coming to pick me up later.” Jessie smiled, waving her hand.

Seeing that not only did she refuse compensation but also declined her help, Julia felt somewhat guilty.

“What’s your name? I feel like I’ve seen you before.”

“My name is Jessie; last name’s Moore.”

Julia pondered for a few seconds and then remembered. “Are you the one who was trending before? There was news about an unfilial granddaughter with the surname Moore, and it had your photo on it.”

No wonder Julia found her somewhat familiar.

Back then, she was upset because the trending news had pulled away the spotlight from her. Thus, she had paid for a spot on the trending list and even joined in criticizing Jessie and Laura. When the truth came out, she harshly condemned the Moore family after realizing she had been deceived.

Due to this incident, she was scolded by her brother, who accused her of being mindless and simply following online trends. When people criticized Jessie’s family, she joined in.

Later, when the situation was clarified, Leon scolded her even more fiercely. She recognized her mistake and attempted to delete those comments, but she soon discovered that the Moore family had used some means to erase the posts, leaving no trace behind.

Most importantly, one of Jessie’s cousins, an executive in Rossi Group, faced intense backlash as people demanded his dismissal from the company.

Jessie didn’t expect Julia to recognize her and nodded in acknowledgment.

“Miss Rossi, you do have a good memory.”

“It’s not about having a good memory, but I just spent quite a lot to get trending back then! In the end, your clarification post really overwhelmed mine.” Julia said, a bit frustrated.

However, as she had been deceived by the Moore family first and Jessie’s clarification was going trending, Julia didn’t continue the money race.

“No need to apologize. I believe in your sincerity, and I’m sure President Harper will definitely feel it.”

“Hopefully,” Julia said, thinking of finally seeing Kevin today as a smile slowly formed on her lips. fre eweb\(n)ovel(.)co(m)

She stood up and extended her hand to Jessie. “We met by accident, but if you need my help in the future, just say the word. I’ll help if I can.”

As soon as she finished speaking, Lilian arrived in her car.

Working together, they loaded Jessie’s bike into the back seat. After that, Jessie bid farewell to Julia.

“Jessie, your ankle is quite swollen. We should go to the hospital.” f\ree webn ovel(.)com

Lilian was curious about who the previous person was, but she was more worried over Jessie’s injury.

Jessie waved her hand, insisting. “Just take me back to the shop. It’s just a little injury; nothing serious. I can rest at the shop. Besides, I don’t have to move around much now because of this.”

“Do you think this is a laughing matter, Jessie?”

“Going to the hospital costs money, and what about my shop? I’ve promised several customers that they can pick up their orders today. I can’t let my issues cause delays for others.”

Reluctantly, Lilian took Jessie back to her store, watching her friend’s back with resignation.

“If I had your motivation, I might have become a manager by now.”

“You should try then.” Jessie smiled. Although walking was difficult, her kitchen wasn’t large and didn’t need a lot of walking to move around in it.

After finishing a task, the doorbell jingled. She looked up and said, “Welcome... Mr. Harper? What brings you here?”

Kevin gazed at Jessie, who remained in the store, feeling somewhat annoyed. He had discreetly sent a bodyguard to follow her to ensure she was safe. Contrary to his expectations, she hadn’t gone to a hospital and went straight to her shop.

To avoid getting exposed, he had come up with an excuse.

“I have business nearby, so I dropped by to check on you.”

“Alright.” Jessie nodded thoughtfully, “Mr. Harper, please sit down. I’ll get you a coffee.”

Before she could leave, he called out to her.

“What’s wrong with your leg?”

“Just a sprain. Is it that obvious?” She turned around, surprised.

He sure had sharp eyes; she had only taken two steps before he noticed her injury.

Kevin went over, picking her up and placing her down on the sofa. Rolling up her pant leg, he saw her swollen ankle.

“You didn’t go to a hospital despite this injury. Do you really think you’re made of steel?”
