Flash Marriage with A Hidden Tycoon -
Chapter 71: Collision
Chapter 71: Collision
"You’re not the Harper family’s eldest son. How would you know what he’s thinking?" Jessie couldn’t help but give Kevin a sideways glance. "Although it seems like President Harper hasn’t made any moves yet, as the saying goes, ’A woman’s pursuit of a man is like a thin piece of paper.’ Who can say he won’t fall for her eventually? Maybe as they spend more time together, he might discover Miss Rossi’s charms, no?"
"Besides, their status and background match so well. If they get together, it would definitely be the biggest news in Grace City."
Kevin pondered, knowing he was indeed President Harper and naturally understood what was going on. However, he couldn’t tell Jessie this directly; all he could do was beat around the bush.
"I don’t think so. Being the eldest Harper, no woman has ever managed to get close to him all these years. What makes the Rossi family’s daughter any different? If he truly valued her family status, he wouldn’t have stayed single for so long."
Jessie thought this made sense, but she had always been curious about how Kevin, as a repairman, knew so many people.
Even if his boss really valued him, it seemed a bit too much for just a repairman, didn’t it?
"Mr. Harper, your surname is also Harper. Have you ever checked your family roots? Maybe you’re super distant relatives with the Harper family’s eldest son? You have such a noble appearance, so I find it hard to believe you’re only a repairman." She laughed. "And before this, Lilian even speculated that you’re actually from the Harper family, hiding your identity to get close to me. I think she just reads too many novels. How could such things happen in real life?"
"How could my flash marriage partner be a millionaire? If I had that luck, I’d go buy a lottery ticket."
Hearing this, Kevin couldn’t help but admire Lilian’s keen insight.
From what he knew, her family was quite well-off. She was only working at Steve’s company just to experience how life was.
He thought he should limit his interactions with Lilian in the future. If she or Steve discovered his real identity, it wouldn’t be good.
‘If Jessie has to know the truth, I should be the one who tells her in the future.’
"Maybe it’s just good genes in my family. Many people say the same," he replied.
Jessie nodded in agreement. "Yes, remember the time I attended a party with Lilian? I almost mistook President Harper for you. Your backs look so similar."
"Many people said that." Kevin quickly shifted the conversation, "Are you going to make breakfast tomorrow?"
He feared if they continued this topic, he might accidentally reveal something he didn’t want Jessie to know.
"Yes, do you have something you want to eat?"
Most of the time, she would wake up early to make breakfast. The only exception was whenever she had a heavy workload waiting at her shop, so she would need to prepare earlier.
"The creamy mushroom toast from last time. Could you make more so I can take some to the office?"
"Of course I can." She agreed with a smile.
He felt a sense of happiness, eager to show it off to Chris.
The next morning, Jessie handed over a packed breakfast to him.
"I put a bottle of milk in there, too. You can drink it on the way."
"Thanks." He reached out to take it, and that was when she noticed he was wearing the shirt she had bought yesterday.
She thought he was being polite and didn’t expect him to actually wear it.
"It fits well," He said as he picked up his bag. He even attached the little trinket she had given him; it felt a bit childish to him, but it was a gift from his wife.
"Be careful on the way. I packed a lot, so you can heat it up in the microwave for lunch. Does your company have a microwave?"
"Yes."
So this is what it felt like to have someone care for you.
Kevin left with the lunchbox. As soon as he opened it, the aroma spread everywhere. The driver immediately understood why he was so fond of Jessie’s cooking, considering his picky taste. Even just the scent was already so mouthwatering.
Kevin had a clear drive to work, but Julia wasn’t as lucky. She woke up early, hoping to deliver breakfast to Kevin, but her car broke down halfway.
Wasn’t this God just intentionally blocking her love?
She hadn’t seen him for a few days, and this was her chance to stop his car early and maybe chat for a bit.
Even though her family advised her to give up on him, she wouldn’t be this persistent for years if she could easily let go. She wanted to try, even if it meant hitting a dead end.
As she anxiously made a call and asked for another car from her family’s bodyguard, she saw something unexpected.
Across the road, she saw a car passing by with a license plate she could never forget. It was Kevin’s car!
Heaven hadn’t forsaken her effort. God was indeed helping her.
She quickly grabbed the breakfast and flowers from her car and ran toward Kevin, her attention solely on him as she completely ignored the red traffic lights.
Jessie was riding her bicycle when Julia suddenly dashed out. The two collided, and Jessie fell off her bike.
Julia was about to curse, but she saw Jessie approaching to help her. "Are you okay?"
She expected to be scolded, but the words of concern Jessie said left her a bit flustered.
"I’m fine," Julia shook her head, realizing it was her fault for running the red light and causing the accident.
Her first instinct was to look toward Kevin’s direction, seeing he hadn’t left yet. Without listening to anything Jessie said, she tossed a business card at her.
"Call this number if there’s a problem. I’ll compensate!"
With that, she clutched her breakfast and flowers and ran off again.
Thankfully, Jessie had braked just in time; although the lunchbox fell, the food inside hadn’t spilled.
Drake, observing the approaching Julia and the distant Jessie, urgently alerted, "Young Master, it looks like Miss Rossi collided with the young lady! She seems to be hurt."
Upon hearing this, Kevin immediately looked up. He saw Jessie with her bicycle, walking with a slight limp.
Before he could speak, his window was tapped as Julia waved the lunchbox and flowers with a smile.
"Kevin, I brought you breakfast."
He initially didn’t want to acknowledge her, but he decided to roll down the window since it involved Jessie.
"Did you just hit someone?"
Seeing the person she had been longing to roll down his window, Julia felt a little overjoyed. She thought that since he opened his window for her today, tomorrow he might just open the door for her!
