Chapter 73: A Warm-Hearted Side

Faced with Kevin’s concern, Jessie felt a warm sensation in her heart. However, she also found it strange at the same time.

"You are quite amazing. Do all you repairmen have such sharp eyes?"

"Yes," he responded briefly, taking out a healing patch from his pocket and applying it onto Jessie.

His actions made her feel a bit embarrassed.

"When did you buy this?"

Kevin was taken aback for a moment before he quickly replied, "As a repairman, I often accidentally get injured, so I always carry some patches just in case."

As a matter of fact, he had just bought it on his way there.

Lilian also returned with medicine from the pharmacy. Seeing the scene, she smiled faintly and stepped out to give them some privacy.

It wasn’t until Kevin left that she came back in, muttering, "Tch tch tch, you’re saying you guys don’t have feelings for each other? I think you two are quite close. Mr. Harper rushed over personally to apply medicine when he heard you were injured."

Hearing this, Jessie shook her head and explained, "No; he just had some business to deal with around here, so he came by to check on me. Being a repairman, it’s normal for him to notice my injury so quickly, right?"

Even while saying this, her heart felt warm.

Though Kevin appeared cold on the outside, he was actually a person with a very sensitive nature.

Upon returning to the company, he immediately spotted Adam drinking coffee at the door, looking casual.

"Yo, back already?" freew\ebno\vel..(c)om

Kevin ignored him, ready to leave straight away. However, Adam couldn’t tolerate his aloof demeanor and chuckled.

"I’ve heard that your wife and your admirer ran into each other today. Oh, I even saw the two of them together on my way to work."

"You saw them?" Kevin stopped in his tracks and raised an eyebrow at Adam.

"Of course. Guess what? Your wife and Miss Rossi were also chatting happily. Tch tch tch, what will you do if they become friends?" Adam said with a cheeky expression.

Kevin only gave him a look, too lazy to argue with him. Then, he went straight into the elevator.

Adam, however, was eagerly looking forward to the unfolding events. He had never seen Kevin leave the company in such a hurry before. This friend of his was definitely being reeled in slowly by his wife, and he was truly anticipating the dramatic moment when Kevin’s identity would be revealed. By the time that would happen, he expected it to be a big scene of a certain someone being reprimanded.

However, Kevin did deserve some hardship for flaunting his new shirts and dishes in front of Adam that morning.

‘Does he do all that just because I don’t have a wife?’

Upon reaching the office, the first thing Kevin did was call Leon to complain about Julia’s behavior. Leon was quite helpless when it came to his sister.

He had restrained Julia numerous times, but even if he locked her at home, she would find a way to escape.

He was initially furious over her little antics. However, he somewhat turned numb to them over time, unable to control her actions anymore.

"President Harper, I’ve told my sister many times, but there’s no helping it; she really likes you and insists on pursuing you."

"Besides, you’re not married yet, and there hasn’t been a pursuer around you for years. Considering my sister’s sincere feelings, could you tolerate her a bit more?"

Kevin felt quite troubled and hung up the phone.

Julia was like an immortal cockroach; no matter how coldly he treated her, she would act like nothing happened and persistently chase after him. Even if she got embarrassed in public, she would remain unfazed and simply claim that whatever she set her sights on, she would get it regardless of the means.

Leon sighed at the call that had ended, feeling exasperated. Julia was really giving him no peace of mind.

Just as he was about to call her over to reprimand her, she called him instead.

As he answered the call, she immediately said, "Brother, do you remember that mother and daughter who were in the news before? I met the girl today. She seems really nice, very gentle, and nothing like what her relatives claim. It’s so unfair how they treated her!"

He recalled that she used to criticize this mother-daughter duo, yet she switched sides once the backlash came.

Most of the online gossip was fabricated, and he had already cautioned Julia against choosing sides too easily.

Just as he was about to lecture her, he remembered how she had harassed Kevin and immediately began scolding her.

"You still have the nerve to talk about something else? Didn’t you go after Kevin again today? I’ve told you countless times to stay at home or find something proper to do. Didn’t I assign someone to keep an eye on you? How did you get out?"

Julia scratched her head; she certainly couldn’t tell Leon that she had climbed out of the window, could she? That would bring another round of scolding.

"Oh, Brother, if I’m going to pursue someone, of course, I would need to make my presence visible. By the way," Julia quickly changed the subject. "One of that girl’s relatives works at our company! Such a disgusting character, we should fire them as soon as possible!"

He sighed; he was familiar with her tricks, but he didn’t say anything else.

"Is firing an employee over that really necessary? I don’t need to handle such trivial matters."

He had always emphasized that his staff should not only have competence but also integrity. Without it, everything else was futile, and Leon was unwilling to employ such people.

Julia fumed. "They should taste their own medicine! The evil deeds they did should be repaid by themselves."

She wasn’t just speaking out because she met Jessie today, but she also couldn’t stand how her family managed things.

"However, did you listen to what I told you just now? Stop interfering with Kevin..."

"Brother, what did you say? I can’t hear you. Hello? Hello?" Julia babbled and quickly hung up.

If she ended the call any later, she would probably get another scolding.

After that, she drove straight to the Rossi family’s old mansion, which was close to the Harper family’s residence. Unfortunately, her chances of meeting Kevin were slim since he was rarely back there, and she hadn’t even seen him recently.

No, she had to find out Kevin’s new address.

Once inside, she saw Marco giving Isabella a shoulder massage, comforting her as he did.

"Honey, we can’t rush things. If we can’t find the clues, there’s nothing we can do."
