Chapter 252: Not The End
Chapter 252: Not The End
Tony picked up the paper he had written his victory speech. He was prepared to read the speech and knew everything word by word.
Marcella brought out the suit she prepared for him. Of course, she prepared the same suit for their boys. Tony had a blue silk tie with red eagle prints, while their sons had a red tie with blue eagle prints. She thought it would be too crass to match their sons with their father at such a formal party.
She thought their sons would grow tired of wearing the same outfit, but they loved wearing matching outfits. The little ones always get excited to match their big brothers. Their brothers were their heroes. Raphael couldn’t bother to think about silly issues like outfits and he wore whatever he was given. The eldest two would observe her reaction to wear what she wanted to wear. They believed their father when he said their mother had the best fashion sense in the family.
"Your hands are shaking," Marcella said as she fixed Tony’s tie. He couldn’t even stand straight and leaned on her shoulder with his hands and she felt his hands shaking.
"I did it, Birdie..." he said, his lips trembling. "I did what I promised you. You are the first lady..."
"You did," Marcella stood on her tiptoes and kissed his lips.
"What am I going to do next?" he said.
Marcella was surprised to hear him. She thought he had it all figured out. He was enthusiastic about doing every gruesome work and she thought that he did it all because he loved doing it all.
Turns out, he did everything as a stepping stone to his goal. He did everything so that one day he could become the president.
He must be overwhelmed now that he got what he wanted for a very long time.
Marcella cupped his cheeks and kissed him. "You do good for the people in the coming four years, Tony. In a hundred years, when they take a poll of the best president of our country, you should be on top," she said.
So, what if he finished one goal? She will give him another goal to keep him focused.
"If you like this job in the coming four years, you will continue it for another four years. If not, we will come back here. You have me. Our kids will love to have you at home. If you don’t like staying home, you can do what you want to do. It’s okay... It’s okay, Tony. You’ve reached the peak of this mountain. Who told you there is only one mountain in this world? Maybe learning French and Russian is the next peak you’ll have to reach. Who knows?" she said.
Tony calmed down. "You are amazing," he kissed her.
He thought he was standing on a cliff now that he climbed to the top of the mountain, but just with a few words, she changed the scenery around him.
Now he saw ranges of mountains in front of him. There was also a peaceful plateau in front of him. Wherever he chose to step forward next, he knew he would have her by his side.
Why would he worry?
"I’ll see if the kids are ready," Marcella got out of the room.
"You’re not getting ready?" Tony asked. She still hadn’t dressed and she was running around taking care of others. She usually a long time to get ready.
"I’ll be ready in a minute," she said.
"Right," Tony rolled his eyes. Her "minute" is hours in the true sense. "I’ll check the boys. You get dressed first," he stopped her. "I am not leaving without you and the broadcasters wouldn’t be pleased if I was not there on time."
Marcella blinked her eyes and rushed to her vanity. She needed to be on time. She wanted to look perfect standing beside Tony on such an important occasion.
Tony smiled seeing Marcella hurrying. He walked out to check on his boys. Joey was helping the youngest with his trousers. Nick was helping the other young one. Raphael was dressed to the tee and was sitting with his legs crossed.
Tony took charge of dressing the young ones. They were not pleased their father was doing everything in a hurry. Then Tony had to take charge of finding the shoes of the younger kids. For some reason, he could find only four right shoes.
In the end, Joey found the pairs and Tony almost lost it when they insisted on wearing their own shoes. Nick took charge and Tony sat on the small bed with a sigh.
"Now the hair..." he sighed.
Who asked him to have this many kids? It’s a Herculean task to get them ready!
Maybe his sons pitied him, but they didn’t cause any trouble and let him do their hair. Tony let out a sigh of relief seeing his sons all dressed up.
"You should be grateful you’re not an aristocrat in medieval times," Raphael said.
"That came out of nowhere," Tony smiled. "Why?"
Raphael looked at Tony as if he was a nincompoop. "You have five sons. Look at Joey; he’s almost your height and smart like Mom. Nick is charismatic and I am the smartest of all. The young ones would have good genes considering his brothers. Kings and enemies would have considered your family a threat," he said.
Tony thought about it. "You are right," he said.
He has an army at his disposal. In a few years, after their sons grow up, if he walks surrounded by them, who will dare to oppose him?
"You are all my strength," Tony said ruffling Raphael’s hair. He smiled cutely.
"I know you are lying, Dad," he said. Joey and Nick too agreed with him.
"How do you know?" Tony asked.
"Mom is your strength," Nick said.
Tony didn’t even try to refuse his allegation. "You are smart to know. I can’t wait to throw you all out of our house and live peacefully with my wife," he chuckled.
"Dad!"
All of them said in unison. Joey and Nick lunged at him to have a wrestling match with him. They loved trying to beat their dad. Maybe one day they will beat their dad.
"No! Not now. Your mother’s going to get pissed if you crinkled your shirts," Tony stopped them. "Boys, Attention!!!" Tony shouted like a military captain and his sons all stood in line and stomped their feet.
"Sir. Yes, sir!"
