Chapter 158: Forcing Out Respect
Chapter 158: Forcing Out Respect
Marcella stood by the bedroom window. Her lips curved seeing the maple tree in the garden change colors. She had a small rose garden and the roses were blooming splendidly.
"I love autumn!" she stretched herself.
Tony smiled. He was reading the newspaper sitting on the bed. She tried stopping him from bringing his work inside the bedroom but failed. Turned out, she loved hearing about his work more than he wanted to work, He had to bring work into the bedroom.
"Today is Aiden Fogarty’s wedding."
"I know," Marcella tied her hair.
Aiden invited her. Her alone. He sent the invitation in her name "Marcella DeAngelo". She didn’t think Aiden really wanted her there. If he respected her, he would have invited her properly. She didn’t RSVP’d.
"They mentioned it in the papers," Tony said folding the paper.
"Uh? Maybe because he’s the spokesperson of the senator. He’s been on the news a lot lately, so, he must have asked to mention it in the papers. Cindy knows a few journalists," Marcella said casually and stretched some more. That news did nothing to her good mood. "What were they planning? Wedding on a workday in the morning. Did they expect everyone to leave their work behind just to attend their wedding?"
Tony smiled and placed the paper to the side. He had lost his interest in the news already. It was not about the news. Marcella was standing by the window wearing just a chiffon nightdress and he could see everything through the see-through fabric as she stretched. How can he be interested in anything else over his wife’s alluring curves?
He jumped down from the bed and walked to the window. Lately, Joey sleeps through the night and wakes up late in the morning. He had all the time in the world with his wife these days and he loved every moment of it.
"I didn’t RSVP’d. Should we care~ Ah!!" She screamed as he wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her.
"Tony!" she flailed her legs. "Let me down!"
"Okay," Tony said and kissed her back. He threw her on the bed.
Sitting on the bed, Marcella glared at him. "No! Not today, Tony." She pointed her finger at him as he walked on all fours on the bed toward her. "I said, no."
Tony looked at the tip of her finger and bit it. "He might think that you didn’t attend his wedding because you are still pining over him. You know what happens when he accidentally thinks that way..."
"Me? Pining? For over four years? Over him?" Marcella’s face twisted with disgust.
Tony shrugged. Seeing the confidence on Tony’s face, Marcella thought about what he said.
"What is he going to do if he thinks that way?" she asked.
She knew the answer to her question but she wanted to hear it from Tony.
"He’s going to tell everyone. Some are going to believe him," Tony said.
Personally, Tony didn’t care what others might say about his wife. He knew he had her heart, body, and soul. Nothing else mattered. He was just curious what she was going to do.
Will she ignore it? Or will she surprise him?
"I cannot let that happen," Marcella said.
Tony leaned and kissed her neck. "But you have to attend Mrs. Butler’s baby shower..."
"I know..." Marcella ran her fingers through his soft hair. It helped her think.
"I have the perfect plan!" She pushed him away and jumped from the bed.
Tony didn’t like this development. He didn’t think she would push him down and leave. He watched as she showered. After making sure Joey ate his breakfast, she got ready. When he stood idle, she pushed him to change. She even matched her outfit with his tie.
"I’m included in whatever you are planning?" Tony asked.
"Yes," Marcella smiled widely. "Would Tiffany be open by now?"
Tony checked the time. "It will be if we leave now. You are going to buy them a gift from Tiffany?" he raised his brows. "What a waste!"
Although he said it, he was happy as he understood to an extent what she was planning. After kissing Joey goodbye and getting the gifts Marcella bought for Gloria’s baby shower, both of them left the house.
Marcella bought a cute couple’s bracelet from Tiffany. It was expensive but she didn’t care. She wanted to buy an expensive gift they couldn’t throw away.
The wedding was at a Church. Marcella and Tony arrived just in time as the couple stepped kissed as a married couple. They had arranged a lot of paps to take pictures. The photographers all were standing outside the Church.
Just as Marcella and Tony stepped out of the car, all the attention turned on Marcella and Tony. The sound of the camera clicks drowned out the music from the Church.
Marcella didn’t care about anything. Hooking her arms with Tony’s, she walked inside the Church and walked down the aisle. Even Tony was a little embarrassed as all eyes were on them, but Marcella didn’t care.
She was enjoying the look of despair on Cindy’s face. Aiden looked shocked. Some of the guests stood up, eager to talk to them.
With most of the elites in the city in attendance, almost all of them were acquaintances of Tony and Marcella.
Aiden was not just the one on the papers and news lately, Tony was too. He was hailed as a rising star in politics. With Marcella turning around her reputation as a charitable socialite, those of her father’s acquaintances who wanted to stay in the shadows didn’t mind exposing themselves publicly.
In their perspective, making connections with Tony would be more beneficial than their connections with Aiden as Tony had more power in politics and had a brighter future.
Marcella walked straight up to the couple. The maid of honor was Ally, one of Cindy’s co-workers, and that automatically made her an enemy of Marcella. Ally stepped forward to stop Marcella.
Marcella glared at her. Ally didn’t back down at first but seeing the best men who were powerful men backing off, Ally too gained her sense and backed off.
Like a war steed, Marcella charged forward. Marcella offered the blue box with the beautiful bow to Aiden.
"Happy married life, Mr. Fogarty," she said in a crisp voice. Her voice got caught in the microphone and was heard by everyone.
"You’ve found your match in Cindy. I am so happy for both of you. My husband and I wish you all the best."
She said in a happy tone. Aiden looked at the box.
Mr. & Mrs. Crawford
Seeing Aiden’s face getting sad, Cindy stepped forward.
"I’m glad you came. You should get seated. The ceremony is not over yet," she said.
Marcella heard the anger in Cindy’s tone. It only made her happy.
Yeah, she’s not an angel. She’s just a human.
