Chapter 313: She Stole My Baby
Chapter 313: She Stole My Baby
Wu Bai Hee lay in bed, staring at the painting across from her. She had been forced to prop herself up against the headboard of the bed, but she couldn’t sit up too much because of her pain.
How could they leave her alone like this? She wanted to yell and scream, to rage against the cruel world that had reduced her to this state. She had experienced pain in her first life. The abuse she suffered was horrible and left long lasting scars that she still felt to this day...
But it was nothing compared to the pain she was having right now. Would it have been so bad to have given her something to help with it? Or was that bitch trying to kill her?
Or maybe that bitch was trying to push her until she killed herself. Could that be the ’Angel’s’ plan?
That way, her hand would be clean... and the people would still love her.
It was really an ingenious plan, one that she, herself, might have come up with.
But she was not going to lay over and die. She had fought too long and too hard to let that happen.
Even if Liu Wei no longer wanted her, that was fine. She would take over this city for herself. There was nothing stopping her... except for that Angel.
Wu Bai Hee thought about it more. The Angel must be a spirit user like her. She must have convinced everyone that she healed them when really it was Bin An Sha. But how could she pull back the curtain and expose that woman for the fake that she was?
There was the softest sound of the door opening and closing behind someone. Footsteps approached her bedroom, and Wu Bai Hee hurriedly summoned some tears as she began to weep softly into her hand.
"Oh, Princess, I’ve been so worried about you," came the soft voice of one of her latest helpers. She had forgotten the girl’s name, but she couldn’t have been more than sixteen years old.
Struggling to get herself under control, Wu Bai Hee looked up from over top of her fingers and at the girl. "Are you allowed to be here?" she asked in a terrified whisper. Looking around as if someone was going to appear at any second, she continued to speak to the girl. "Hurry up and run before they come back. The Angel took my baby; now there is nothing to protect the city from those creatures."
The girl gasped as she looked around. "Are you okay? Should I take you from here? Just let me know what I need to do, and I’ll do it for you, Princess."
The girl dove to the side of Wu Bai Hee’s bed, her knees bouncing painfully against the floor, but she didn’t think anything of it as she grasped Wu Bai Hee’s hand.
"Just tell me what you need."
"I need my baby back." This time, Wu Bai Hee’s tears didn’t need to be faked. That baby was the only thing keeping her alive. Without it, she was... dead.
And that bitch of a Goddess knew it.
"Of course, I can go steal it back. Where is he?" murmured the girl, her eyes darting over to the still-opened door as if the boogeyman would appear at any second. Or an angel.
"I have no idea. The woman had Bin An Sha cut me open and take my baby out of me. And then she gave me a girl, saying that that was who I gave birth to," said Wu Bai Hee quickly, all of her pain and anguish coming out with each word she spoke. "But God told me that I would have a son. I know that that baby isn’t mine. I just want my baby back."
"Shhh, Princess. Don’t you worry about a thing? You stay here and get better. You have a lot of supporters out in the city, and they will help you look for your son. And this so-called Angel," hissed the girl, coming to her feet. "We will lay down our lives to protect you and your child. Never doubt that."
"You have to be careful. The woman who stole my child, the Angel... I think she is a spirit power user. I think she is manipulating everyone who comes in contact with her. You have to be careful not to be caught up in her trap. She wants to take the city over."
The more Wu Bai Hee spoke, the more power she put into her words. She didn’t have a lot left, but if she could get this one girl to do her bidding, then she wasn’t going to need to do anything else.
People were already on the fence about the Angel, knowing that she was one of the reasons why the creatures came at night. Now, if they know she stole her baby, then that just might be the final nail in the coffin.
Oh yes, the Angel’s time had come. She would know what a truly painful death was. Maybe, if she was lucky, Wu Bai Hee might just let her kill herself to ease the pain.
Well, it was a thought at least.
"She stole my baby," reiterated Wu Bai Hee, gripping the girl’s hand so hard that it had to hurt. "Don’t let her hurt you, too."
"I won’t, Princess, I promise. I will find your baby; I will do whatever it is that you need me to do... especially kill that woman. She isn’t worthy of you worrying about her anymore. Let me deal with everything, and you concentrate on getting better," smiled the girl as she released Wu Bai Hee’s hand and made her way toward the door.
She looked out of the opening, checking both sides to make sure that no one was there before she ran out of the apartment. She was in such a hurry that she never bothered to look back.
Too bad, if she had, she would have seen the twisted smirk on Wu Bai Hee’s face.
As it was, she raced down the stairs as if the hounds of hell were on her heels.
"Woah," grunted one of the guards outside of the front doors. Zhao Jun Jie had doubled the guards in the past few days, and now she knew why. "Shi Xiu Ying, what’s going on? Why are you in such a rush?"
