Chapter 312: I’m Leaving Now

"That’s not my baby."

I could hear Wu Bai Hee hissing from inside of her own bedroom. And to say that I wasn’t impressed was an understatement.

My guys had moved her body over to her own place after I cleaned her up as best as I could, and she had been screaming ever since she woke up.

Zhao Jun Jie, on the other hand, has refused to leave the chair in our condo. He was utterly convinced that if he let go of his daughter for even a moment, she was going to die.

I had initially thought that he was suffering from postpartum depression, but that was generally attributed to the mothers. But now, listening to Wu Bai Hee for the past five minutes, I was more inclined to believe that he had a legitimate reason to fear for his daughter’s life.

Luckily for all of us, Hei, the kleptomaniac crow, had started bringing back random baby things, like clothes, formula, and bottles, so Zhao Jun Jie really didn’t have to leave.

"You and I both know that it is," I sighed as I leaned against the door to her room. If I wanted to be a good doctor, I would have had her up and walking around a few hours after surgery... and definitely now that a few days had passed. But I really couldn’t bring myself to care.

Not to mention, it would require me touching her, which was entirely out of the equation as far as I was concerned.

"Fuck off," snapped Wu Bai Hee, too out of sorts to use her manipulation on me. "You’ve always been a jealous cow; I bet you traded my son with some random woman’s daughter just so that I would have to raise it as my own. But jokes on you, I’d rather kill her than raise someone not of my own blood. I bet you had a spirit user come and enchant Zhao Jun Jie, too. Is that why he isn’t here? You’ve added him to your sick harem?"

The vile filth coming out of that woman’s mouth didn’t even make me blink by this point. It was like she only had a list of five things to say and would just put it on repeat.

It had gotten to the point where I could repeat it word for word.

"Have you been able to use the washroom yet?" I asked with a sigh. The first day, I had tried to talk some sense into her, but it was just not working. Now, I had to make sure that there were no complications from the c-section.

Apparently, relearning how to urinate was one of the more significant challenges after childbirth. You wouldn’t think it was a thing, but here we are...

"It’s none of your goddamn business!" screamed the woman as a glass full of water was thrown at my head.

Leaning to the side, I let out a long sigh as the vessel crashed into the other wall. No wonder she had to send teams out for glassware. Didn’t she know she was supposed to drink from it and not throw it?

"Your sister was a lot less of a pain in my ass, and her poison was a lot harder to deal with than your c-section. I mean, you can’t even deal with a tenth of the pain she had to all of her life." Okay, so comparing her to her sibling was probably a low blow, but I was petty sometimes.

"My sister?" asked Wu Bai Hee, slowly turning her head to look at me. Given the expression on her face, I wouldn’t be surprised if she managed to twist it an entire 306 degrees.

"Yup, she was so sweet. And we also got to meet Huang Xiao Wen. They are such a cute couple," I smiled, more than happy to rub it in just how well her sister was doing. Some patients needed to be coddled... others needed a fire lit under their ass to get better.

Wu Bai Hee snorted at that statement. "He always did care too much about her. Nice to know that his sycophant ways have finally born fruit."

"Are, are you jealous?" I asked, the smirk on my face only getting bigger. "But that’s fine. They are living their best life while you are completely falling apart in bed. I only wish that I could take a picture of you to send it to them right now."

"You are enjoying this, aren’t you? My misery makes you so happy that you just want to gloat to anyone who can hear it. You are a pathetic doctor, and I am going to make sure that everyone in this world knows just how horrible of an ’angel’ you are," screamed Wu Bai Hee.

Spittle few out of her mouth as she shook her head back and forth. While her hair used to be beautiful and straight, it was now looking like a rat’s nest after so many days of neglect.

"Fine," I shrugged. "And for your sake, I hope that you are getting out of bed and moving around. It will help your recovery."

"Ah, yes, my recovery... from a surgery I didn’t give consent to. The same one that you did in order to steal my baby from me."

Okay, now the woman was just becoming terrifying. Her eyes were wide, her pupils completely blown as her pale face managed to highlight the blue veins just under her skin. She looked like she had one foot in the grave as it was.

And I had no doubt about whether or not she was able to get out of bed; that ended now. If she could, she would have come across this room and killed me just now.

While I didn’t wish her the best, nor was I willing to waste my powers on her, I had enough humanity left in me to not want to set her back.

Her body had been cut open and put back together again, and without painkillers, I couldn’t begin to imagine her pain.

"I’m leaving now. If you need anything, I’ll be back tomorrow."
