Chapter 1259: Smiling with Satisfaction

Chapter 1259: Chapter 1259: Smiling with Satisfaction

Having been with him for many years, she might not have known some of his bad habits, such as his dislike for others touching him.

But he didn’t despise her touch; he even craved it a bit.

Whenever her fair little feet accidentally touched his, aside from a strange feeling that always spread inside him, there were no other abnormalities.

She couldn’t sit still while watching TV, touching things here and there.

Sometimes she sat watching TV, and other times she would rummage through the drawers looking for snacks.

As new years eve rumbled on, she grew tired, and started to doze off leaning on the sofa.

At first, she leaned against the sofa, but then she leaned on him.

His embrace was warm; she liked to bury her little head in his chest, just as she would with her stuffed toy.

Sylvan Cheney stayed up with her until the New Year’s countdown began, and only then did he wrap her in a blanket and carry her to the bedroom.

He laid her down in bed and covered her with a blanket.

In a daze, Jasmine Yale seemed to hear the sound of bells and fireworks.

She forced her eyes open.

She looked right into his handsome face, his features deep and refined.

His large hand gently touched her head.

Jasmine glanced at the clock and realized it was the New Year...

Her face still bore the traces of sleepiness, but she pressed down on his neck and whispered in his ear, "Happy New Year."

Sylvan curved the corners of his lips, turned his head, and smiled back, "Happy New Year."

Only then did Jasmine smile contentedly.

But she was really sleepy, and as soon as he let go, she fell asleep hugging her pillow.

She slept contentedly under his blessing.

She wasn’t worried about anything because as soon as dawn broke, she could see him again; she didn’t have to worry about him traveling or leaving.

Because of this, she slept deeply.

Happy New Year.

Sylvan was startled as the cigarette in his fingers burned down to his fingers, causing him to frown.

The interrogation room was still cold, not because the heater was off, but because the location was near a high mountain, and there was a bone-chilling cold.

Sylvan dropped the cigarette butt in his hand, then took out another cigarette from the pack and lit it.

His deep gaze looked out the window, his eyes unfathomable.

All he could see were high mountains and trees, and the continuous rain.

The cold rain tapped against the window, his silhouette reflected on the glass.

Tomorrow, there would be a second round of interrogation.

Here, he couldn’t contact the outside world at all.

He wasn’t clear about Yacob Harry’s situation and couldn’t find out, but he trusted Charles Mcintosh enough.

After a while, Sylvan and someone from the court arranged to send Jasmine Yale an anonymous text message.

The message had only four words: "Happy New Year."

After sending it, he looked at the simple text and suddenly missed the taste of dumplings.

Sylvan slightly lifted the corners of his lips and took a drag of his cigarette.

The smoke swirled around.

Jasmine received the message just after midnight in Old York.

She was staying in Ann Nolan’s guest room, tossing and turning, unable to sleep.

After receiving the message, she frowned and laughed.

It wasn’t even New Year yet, and someone was already sending her messages.

But people always mistakenly sent messages to her phone, so Jasmine didn’t mind, glanced at it, and casually turned it off.

Ann’s house was very well soundproofed; Little Candy wasn’t making a fuss, likely asleep.

Jasmine’s thoughts floated.

She had played with Little Candy for a long time today, and she really wanted a Little Princess of her own.
