Chapter 1226: Chapter 1226: I Have to Take Care of the Baby Now
At three o’clock in the afternoon, Jasmine Yale successfully picked up Ann Nolan at the airport.
"Ann, Ann!" Jasmine waved her hand, standing in the crowd.
Ann had come alone, wearing a light purple long coat and a white scarf around her neck.
She pushed her suitcase, burying her head in the scarf.
As usual, Ann was not wearing high heels, her black boots instead giving off a knowledgeable and elegant aura.
"Jasmine!"
Ann also saw her, and the two hugged each other.
Long time no see.
Jasmine enthusiastically took her suitcase. "Where are you staying? Can I give you a ride?"
"Evan Guerrero rented an apartment for me, let me check the address."
Ann pulled out her phone, checking as she and Jasmine walked out of the airport.
"Gosh, your boss is quite thoughtful, even renting an apartment for you," Jasmine happily said.
"Yeah, he is quite good to me."
"That’s great, let’s go have some afternoon tea first and rest a bit, then we’ll head to the apartment later. It’s been so long, I’d love to chat with you. You wouldn’t believe how lonely it gets being in Cakago by myself."
"Sure, let’s go."
Jasmine took Ann to a coffee shop named "A·M."
The sun shone brightly in Old York, not as dry and cold as in Landon, which Ann enjoyed.
Perhaps it was the change of city that greatly lifted her spirits, leaving behind Landon and all of its past turmoils and emotions.
She could start anew.
She was still young, wasn’t she?
"Ann," Jasmine sat down across from her, "What would you like to drink? Cappuccino? Latte?"
"Just a milk tea for me, no coffee."
"Why the switch to milk tea? Didn’t you like coffee?"
Ann smiled gently, her smile filled with serene tenderness.
Jasmine looked at Ann for a while, noticing a rosiness and a somewhat different air about her.
She still ordered a milk tea for Ann and got herself a coffee, along with many pastries.
The two chattered a great deal about daily life during the journey, and now Jasmine, resting her chin on her hand, gazed at Ann.
Ann brushed away the stray hair by her ear and smiled. "Why are you staring at me like that? Do I look good?"
"Yeah, you look good." Jasmine felt she was different, "Ann, are you going to stay in Old York permanently?"
"Yes, I’ll be here permanently, planning a lifetime."
"That’s great. I’ll come to Old York to look for a job after I graduate," Jasmine said. "When do you start work? If you’re not in a hurry, how about we hang out for a few days?"
"I have to go through the hiring procedures tomorrow. CEO Santos is very kind to me, allowing me to continue as the executive secretary even here in Old York."
"Don’t you plan to take a few days off?"
"I start work the day after tomorrow, and shortly it will be the Spring Festival holiday. Golden Growth is a traditional company."
"That’s perfect, then. Shall we spend the Spring Festival together?"
"Sure, I’ll make arrangements when the time comes." Ann’s face showed a light, peaceful smile.
Just like the sunshine outside, bright with a touch of softness.
Jasmine didn’t continue the topic further. "Ann, I brought Sweet Kitty along. If you’re coming to Old York, would you consider getting a cat? A very well-behaved one."
Ann shook her head. "I can’t keep pets anymore, I need to take care of a baby now."
"What?" Jasmine was stunned, her eyes wide open, taking a moment to understand. Was she talking about having a baby?
"What... do you mean by taking care of a baby?" She still did not quite grasp it.
