Chapter 894: Chapter 564: The Necromancer’s Treasure_3

Arms’ remaining equipment was relatively ordinary and of little use to himself, so he distributed it on the basis of their suitability to the Six-Armed Serpent Demon, Daphne, and Estelle to enhance their combat strength.

With that, Arms was cleaned out, not even dregs remained.

Gaven turned his head to make sure nothing had been omitted and said to everyone, "Return to Mesnoel for now. I am going to dissolve this place."

"As you command," the group responded in unison.

With just a thought, the entire space began to collapse at a visible speed, everything here reverting back into the purest Shadow Power.

Gaven didn’t immediately withdraw his consciousness but instead watched inanely at the collapsing edges, where countless mysterious Shadow Power had formed Magic Runes. These runes were exceedingly simple, merely representing the four basic elements of water, earth, wind, and fire, and when these elements combined in different arrangements, they produced myriad complex variations.

This situation reminded Gaven of computer programming’s zeros and ones, which, although simpler, formed endlessly complex program formulas.

Thus, magic, it seems, shares similarities with computer programming formulas. Each spell could be considered a formula with specific effects, and all spellcasters might be seen as programmers from another world.

Ahem, stop right there—that’s one bizarre idea, but once it had arisen, it proved impossible to dislodge from his mind.

From the small to the large, from this temporary space, it was possible to see that the whole world, even the entire multiverse, might be built upon this foundation—the entire world constructed from Magic Runes.

However, compared to ordinary Magic Runes, those that formed the world’s foundation were more complex and held greater power, and thus, they were given a specialized name: Law Runes, also known as Rules Runes.

His own Undead Vengeance Realm involved the use of Laws, which accounted for its immense power, capable of causing even the greatest Legendary figures to stumble.

Presently, he was at best in his apprenticeship, only able to rigidly apply existing program formulas. Far from the point of developing his own formulas, the day when his spellcasting would truly come into its own seemed distant.

Those collapsing Law formulas were far beyond his comprehension; all he could do was to etch them into memory using the method of Memory Projection.

His inability to grasp them didn’t mean others would fail to understand; he believed that the Legendary Arcanist Phinexia would be quite interested in them. Arcanists, compared to Mages, were more authentic programmers, having learned with the explicit goal of "programming" due to the historical circumstances they found themselves in.

Before the Magic Network was established, spellcasting wasn’t standardized, and many cast spells based on innate talent like Magicians. Such spellcasters couldn’t really be called programmers; at best, they were mere computer users. When a computer’s internal programs encountered problems, they were clueless and didn’t know how to deal with it. At least Mages knew basic troubleshooting like reseating memory sticks or reinstalling the system.

Arcanists were the original programmers, the editors of most Magic Network spells. The second-generation Magic Goddess Mistela’s ability to build the Magic Network had historical reasons. Under the unchecked growth of the arcanists of the Nesserel Empire, a basic magic system had emerged, and she took advantage of this trend to integrate the system into her Magic Network, creating the more easily controlled Mage profession.

As spellcasting became easier for Mages, relying heavily on pre-existing spells, their practical skills fell far behind those of Arcanists, slowing down the development of magic throughout the world. There was a significant disparity compared to the Nesserel Empire era, especially in the rarity of innovative spells that could change the world’s structure. In a thousand years, there hadn’t been one such spell, not to mention fully utilizing old technologies.

At least the construction of a Floating City, a magnificent feat, was an impossible task even for the Halruaa Kingdom, which claims to be the sole legitimate successor to the Nesserel Empire.

The above isn’t the orthodox history of Felen but merely an extrapolation by Gaven, equating spellcasters with programmers.

He realized he had overlooked one thing during his inventory: apart from tangible gains, Gaven and his companions had an intangible windfall—the total capacity points of Weizemay Manor had surged by over a thousand. Originally totaling just over three thousand, they had accumulated enough to increase by a third, reaching four thousand points.

Compared to scattered gains, war was quicker and more violent in procuring rewards.

And this was only the Undead from the Undead Domain; the Undead that were stationed at Efanso City’s walls and guarding the town hall were not even accounted for.

There was hardly a chance to harvest this portion, especially those facing the Just Hammer Holy Warriors—either they were completely purified or utterly annihilated, likely not even leaving any remains.

Sure enough, when Gaven returned to reality, not only was the battle near the town hall winding down, but even the sound of fighting from the walls was sparse, signaling it was drawing to an end.

Just as they had always planned, the nature of the Undead dictated their heavy reliance on their upper echelons; once the Necromancers at their core were slaughtered, the remaining intelligent vassals dispersed in disorder. For the common citizens, left-over Undead represented disaster, but to organized and trained soldiers, they were easy targets. There was no need to engage the Elite; these were perfect for giving trainees a chance to build courage and practice.

Looking around, not only had Veranika and Nola, who led the charge, convened, but even Katherine and Kellysha, who launched the surprise attack from the secret passages, were nearby holding an impromptu meeting. Clearly, they were engaged in Tactical Deployment, quickly taking control of the entirety of Efanso.

For them, capturing Efanso was merely the start of the war; more significant upheavals awaited. Next to react wouldn’t just be the cities of the Giant Dragon Coast; the Komeer Kingdom and the Sambiyan Kingdom would certainly respond.
