Chapter 345: Chapter 285: Undead Divinity_1
Threads of dark matter drifted from the coffin and merged into the severed palm of the Dwarves Elf.
At the sight of the dark matter, Olive exclaimed in shock, "Divinity!"
Her cry drew everyone’s attention to the dark matter, their minds involuntarily stirred by the sight.
Upon closer inspection, this dark matter indeed seemed out of the ordinary.
It was not just a shadow or mist, but something between solid and ethereal, like grains of black sand.
Though it was black, it shimmered as if lit from within, its beauty indescribable in words.
Even the average person could clearly sense the undead essence it emitted.
Undead Divinity!
It went without saying to whom this divinity belonged.
The Goddess of Undead Vengeance, Chiaranlisha.
Divine Nature, Godhood, and Clericship.
The three components of a deity.
Divine Nature is the most basic; only by igniting the Divine Nature Spark in the soul can one obtain Clericship, coalesce Godhood, and become a True God.
With Godhood, one can hold more divine nature, further coalesce higher Godhood, attain more Clericship, and become a more powerful being.
This is a perfect cycle.
Compared to the souls, this undead divinity was the real nourishment for the severed palm of the Dwarves Elf.
Just by absorbing a little, the withered palm inflated back to its normal state.
The fingers were elegant, the nails were long but not sharp, perfectly trimmed, the fingerpads plump and round, dark as ink yet shining, and several silver rings enhanced their luster.
A severed hand, yet it possessed a beauty that was indescribably alluring.
The second feeling was pressure, an overwhelming and terrifying pressure. Even when facing the horrific size of the Legendary Carrier Worm, Gaven had never felt such majesty.
Everyone could not help but feel as if they were not in the presence of a mere hand, but a True God in person.
The Goddess of Undead Vengeance!
Gaven said hoarsely, "Do you think this severed palm is possibly not just a Holy Emblem, but actually originating from a deity?"
"It’s not a possibility, but a certainty," Olive stated with an air of absolute certainty. "A regular Holy Emblem does not have the capacity to contain divine nature. Even an evil Holy Emblem crafted from a fleshly palm can’t achieve this. Only a divine body, the physical form of a deity, can do this.
Didn’t those Vampire Derivatives say that the Goddess of Undead Vengeance bestowed upon the vampires a Divine Artifact?
It must be referring to this severed palm.
The Goddess of Undead Vengeance certainly couldn’t be present herself, so she intended to use this severed palm to retrieve the undead divinity she once bestowed, and then bring it back to her actual body."
Olive’s speculation was the most in line with the information they had.
The frantic screams coming from the Fine Gold Coffin indirectly validated this theory.
"Mother... Mother... Why... Why do you do this... Mother... Why... Why?"
"You can’t do this... Mother... You can’t do this... I’m your dearest son... How can you treat me so cruelly?"
"No... No... This is my power, the power that belongs to me... You can’t take it away, you can’t take it away... Give it back to me... Give it back to me quickly..."
"Whore, Chiaranlisha... You are just a thorough... a hypocrite to the core... You can’t abandon me... I’m your son... I’m your husband... I am your beloved..."
"Chiaranlisha, I curse you... I will curse you day and night... I curse your God Kingdom to fall... I curse you to be stripped of your Clericship... I curse you to lose all your worshippers... I will forget you in my curses..."
"My power... My power... Give it back to me... Give it back to me..."
Releasing Elvis, the captive Divine Child, from the seal was not an easy task.
But simply retracting the undead divinity that was originally bestowed upon him, especially with the Demigod Ruptured Palm present, became much easier.
No matter how Elvis struggled, he couldn’t prevent the process.
After all, the Undead Divinity was granted by the Goddess of Undead Vengeance herself.
Even after bestowing it to him, he held only the right to store and use it, not the ownership.
As the Undead Divinity was stripped away, Elvis’s voice grew weaker and eventually couldn’t be heard at all.
The elves’ Supreme Mages were at a loss with the invincible Elvis, resulting in his confinement.
The divinity they relied on was this very Undead Divinity.
As it was forcefully extracted, he was merely a Legendary Vampire, powerful perhaps, but comparatively limited, especially when confined within a seal made up of spells targeting him directly, it was even possible for him to be killed outright.
Gaven and his companions, of course, were not about to sit idly by, having realized that the Demigod Palm was key to the whole affair.
They initiated an attack without hesitation.
Their first course of action naturally was to use spells.
Olive prepared a 5th-level spell: Flame Strike Spell, a half-sacred, half-flame power spell that is one of the priests’ most common attack methods.
Lord Virginia was ready with a 6th-level spell: Chain Lightning. Although she could now cast 7th-level spells, she lacked efficient attack methods of that level. Chain Lightning was, instead, her most frequently used, most advantageous form of assault.
Pfft! Pfft!
Whether it was the forceful fire or the Chain Lightning, both completely dissipated about five or six meters from the Demigod Palm as if they had never existed at all.
"Anti-Magic Area."
Lord Virginia and Olive said in unison.
An Anti-Magic Area, as the name implies, is a region where magic effects are thoroughly suppressed. Spells, spell-like abilities, and Supernatural Abilities are all suppressed and unusable within this area, although Special Abilities remain effective.
Now, things had completely gone awry.
The Demigod’s Severed Palm was already hovering in mid-air, shrouded by the Anti-Magic Area.
Their effective long-range attacks were completely ineffective.
They wanted to physically attack, but they had no way to approach, as they would have to use spells like the Flying Spell to help them get there.
"Let’s retreat!" Despite his reluctance, Gaven couldn’t help but suggest.
"We can’t retreat; we’re completely immobilized now," August said with a wry smile. "Young brother Gaven has brought us too many surprises today. I didn’t expect your Soul Consciousness to be more concentrated than ours. Take the chance to leave while you can move. Don’t worry about us, or it will really be too late. That vampire priest is still hidden somewhere, waiting to reap the fruits of victory!"
After being reminded by August,
Gaven realized the situation was far worse than he had imagined.
Although the Demigod’s Severed Hand had recovered to its complete state and was not deliberately targeting them, the suction it exerted on their souls was still terrifyingly strong.
Apart from him, the two Spellcasters, and the Dog Demon, who were still somewhat normal,
Regina, Darnell, and August were all in abnormal states.
Especially the first two, who couldn’t even speak, their bodies seemed to have afterimages, appearing and disappearing intermittently.
Upon closer inspection, those were not afterimages, but rather their Soul Consciousness, flickering in and out of sight.
They were desperately trying to control their Soul Consciousness, preventing it from being pulled out and absorbed by the Demigod’s Severed Palm.
Gaven tried to move his foot, but as soon as he did, he felt an immediate disconnection between his Soul Consciousness and his body.
It felt like his Soul Consciousness was coming out while his body remained in place.
Terrified, Gaven hurriedly remained still.
But his recent movement caused a chain reaction, and Amanda, who had been hiding in his shadow, drifted out and flew toward the Demigod’s Severed Palm.
Being a Spiritual Body, Amanda lacked a physical form to anchor her, making her an easy target.
"Mister... Mr. Gaven..." Amanda’s tiny face, no longer than a palm, was filled with horror and despair as she looked at Gaven with helpless eyes.
"Transform into a solid, quickly transform into a solid," Gaven urgently shouted while trying to grab Amanda, even disregarding the incongruence between his soul and body.
No one knew whether Amanda could be reborn in Weizemay Manor after being absorbed by the Demigod’s Severed Palm.
After all, this was the severed hand of a Demigod, one who governed Undead and the Cleric of Revenge, and a Demigod who bore deep resentment against them.
He had just assured her mother, Estelle, with absolute certainty that he would not let anything happen to her.
If something happened to Amanda, Estelle would certainly go mad and revert to a vengeful spirit, which was plain to deduce.
Amanda, having been an ordinary person before, had a poor combat consciousness.
Only after being reminded by Gaven did she remember this step, and immediately transformed into a physical being.
However, even after transforming, she couldn’t fall to the ground like Gaven and the others, but still floated toward the Demigod’s Severed Hand, albeit at a much slower pace.
After all, she was not a true human, even in physical form; she still retained the nature of being half-spirit, half-material.
When Gaven focused solely on the matter at hand, the integration of his Soul Consciousness with his body reached an unprecedented high, synchronizing in both directions, and he managed to grab Amanda’s small hand.
But the pulling force coming from her still clearly indicated the severity of the situation, slowly pulling him off the ground.
Hum!
The moment Gaven grabbed Amanda’s small hand, a huge energy ripple spread instantaneously.
An apparition appeared out of thin air behind Gaven and Amanda.
If not the Weizemay Manor, what else could it be?
When this apparition appeared, Amanda, as if injected with a true physical form, fell from the sky.
However, this was like stirring up a hornet’s nest.
The Demigod’s Severed Hand, which had been indifferent to them until now, suddenly reacted, altering its encompassing angle slightly to include both Gaven and Amanda within its grasp.
Instantly, a terrifying power descended like a barrage of heavy hands, unceasingly tearing at them.
This time, Olive, the Dog Demon, and others fell into a state of soul trembling. Regina and the rest were in even worse shape, with half of their souls on the verge of leaving their bodies.
Amanda rose into the air once more, pulling Gaven towards the Demigod’s Severed Hand with a speed that matched the onset of the ordeal.
This reaction was certainly not because of Gaven’s enmity with the Undead Goddess of Revenge from an earlier clash.
Although the Demigod’s Severed Hand was powerful enough to seem monstrous, it was after all just an object separated from its owner, supposedly devoid of its own intelligence and consciousness.
If it had possession of such attributes, it should have sensed something when Gaven entered the cave.
It was only after Gaven and Amanda resonated and echoed with the Weizemay Manor, summoning out its apparition, that the severed palm reacted.
This reaction appeared more like a resonance between the attributes of Weizemay Manor and the Demigod’s Severed Hand. After all, Weizemay Manor had once been cloaked by her realm of the Undead Goddess of Revenge and almost became a part of her new God Kingdom.
Both Weizemay Manor and Amanda’s transformation into her current form were closely related to the Demigod’s Severed Hand itself.
Just as Gaven began to lift off the ground, another hand grabbed his own.
Another life-affirming energy ripple spread out, and the apparition of the Dragon Oak Mother Tree appeared behind the two.
It secured Gaven and Amanda firmly together, as if tethered in a single line.
The one who grabbed Gaven was none other than Lord Virginia.
"Wrap your arms around my waist; we’re going up," Gaven said, a trace of fierceness in his eyes as Energy Dragon Wings unfurled from behind him.
"You intend to use Destroy Evil!" Lord Virginia stated as a matter of fact, not as a question, "Confident?"
"Let’s try. It’s better than just waiting to die here," Gaven replied. "After all, I gained this ability through an encounter with the Undead Goddess of Revenge. Perhaps there’s a repressive connection between them."
