Chapter 232: Chapter 189 Subduing the Dragon Girl_1
Limited by the Soul Totem, she was very sensitive to Gaven’s breath, recognizing him at a glance even though he was clad in a sealed suit of full body armor.
Shanoba always thought that time could erase everything, including pain, including fear.
During this time, she had not initiated contact with Gaven, partly because the old nun Stephanie was watching closely.
On the other hand, Shanoba’s control over Gaven was subconsciously resisted.
Moreover, it seemed Gaven had forgotten about her as well, never attempting to contact her.
But when they were reunited, the fear she had once felt overwhelmed her all over again.
No, that wasn’t right.
The pressure emanating from Gaven was even more intense than before.
In Shanoba’s eyes, Gaven was not just a simple man but a towering tree that one could only look up to; she felt so insignificant, so helpless before him.
The courage to rebel that had accumulated in her heart vanished with just one look from him.
In his icy gaze, Shanoba saw one word "Run!"
That word directly translated into real action for Shanoba; without hesitation, she turned her head and ran.
This time, it wasn’t Gaven’s use of the Dragon Oak Mother Tree’s power to control her, but rather her body’s instinctive reaction.
The Black Dragoness had fled!
Their leader, she had actually fled without fighting!
Without the Wyvern to hold them back, what could they use to fight against the Red Copper Dragon?
"The leader has fled, we can’t win—run!"
"Run woof..."
"Follow the leader woof..."
The Gnolls were the first to react.
The intelligence of most Gnolls and Goblins was much of a muchness, none too bright.
This endowed them with a blind obedience trait, particularly high towards those with Dragon Blood.
When Shanoba, as their leader, flew far away, they didn’t even think, dropped everything in their hands, and ran.
A portion of the foolish young Goblins, seeing the Gnolls running, also stupidly followed suit.
These two species made up more than half of the Monster Tribe, and when they ran en masse, leaving only a handful of Hobgoblins, Orcs, and Jackalweres hesitating, not knowing whether to run or stay.
To run: victory was in sight, with heaps of goods waiting for them, and some of the goods had already been revealed—shining weapons and armor, temptingly exposed.
To stay: their leader had run, most cannon fodder had fled, and a fierce group of Hobgoblin Wolf Cavalry was plunging at them, clearly not in a mood for reason.
Whether Hobgoblins, Orcs, Jackalweres, or even the caravan’s coachmen and guards, anyone daring to lift a weapon was cut down without exception.
When the Hobgoblin Wolf Cavalry had breached a third of the caravan, the remaining Monster Tribe couldn’t muster the courage to resist and silently turned to run, faster than their arrival.
Seeing that he missed the chance to take action himself, Gaven turned to the Hobgoblin Warlord, "Blood Claw General, leave this to you. Whether humans or monsters, as long as they do not resist, drive them away. Clean up the battlefield quickly, take the goods and retreat from here to avoid complications. I’m off to meet an old friend."
Due to Undead Necromancy and Resurrection Magic’s existence, there wasn’t much point in completely annihilating these individuals. Any Transcendent Archmage could extract the information they wanted from them.
Gaven used a Fairy Step, leaping onto Aivensa’s back.
Without a need for his command, the Young Red Copper Dragon instinctively understood and pursued in the direction from which the Wyvern had fled.
After crossing only three mountains, Gaven and his companion caught up with the now reverted Shanoba.
Perhaps guessing that Gaven would certainly follow, and knowing she couldn’t escape, she simply stopped and waited for him, saving Gaven the effort.
With a Fairy Step, Gaven jumped down from the Young Red Copper Dragon and said to her, "Stay behind and keep watch for me. If you notice those monsters chasing after us, notify me immediately."
"Alright." Aivensa’s attitude had recently become surprisingly proper, doing whatever she was asked meticulously, as if under some influence.
Gaven was pleased with this, as it made handling her much easier.
As Gaven landed, Shanoba was already prostrating on the ground, saying respectfully, "Shanoba has met Master; I failed to complete your task, please punish me."
Whether deliberate or because she had reverted from dragon form too hastily.
Shanoba wore only a loose garment, not even properly buttoned, and as she bent over, it slipped down, exposing her smooth back with faint traces of Red Copper Dragon Scales; rather than detracting from her beauty, it gave her a unique charm, radiating an enticing allure.
Especially now, her appearance showed no trace of ferocity or bravery, only vulnerability, helplessness, and her voice and demeanor exuded a willingness to be at someone’s mercy—at Gaven’s mercy.
"Really any punishment will do?"
Shanoba seemed to pick up on the underlying meaning in Gaven’s words, her body involuntarily shivering, her heart pounding uncontrollably, and what rose within her was not fear, but a longing, as if the Giant Dragon Bloodline within her was boiling.
With a trembling voice, she replied, "Any will do."
Gaven’s gaze flickered for a moment before he sat on a nearby boulder, retracting his Combat Armor and patting his knee, "Come sit over here."
