The next day, the Carter Group and the Adler law firm released the news of Rachel and Daniel’s engagement. To support it, they even tagged the pics Rachel and Daniel had shared on their social media the previous night.

The world was in an uproar instantly. Nobody had expected Rachel and Daniel to fall in love. They had never heard any rumors about the two before.

The news became trending at once. The Carters were the richest people in the country and Daniel’s father, Arnold was rumored to be the candidate from his party to contest in the presidential elections. Their families uniting was the strongest bond anyone could ever envision.

Arnold had gained a lot of supporters from this news alone and almost all those who had opposed him in his party previously started to support him.

"What are you looking at?" Daniel wrapped an arm around Rachel’s waist and pulled her close as he continued sleeping. They were still in bed, naked, the previous night’s intense activities wearing them out.

"The news of our engagement is out. It sure feels weird to be the object of gossip." Rachel tilted her phone when she saw Daniel staring at her, showing him the headlines.

"You should be accustomed to it by now. You are a Carter after all."

"Yeah. But it still feels weird."

"Get used to it. We’ll be under public scrutiny for a long time."

Rachel hmmed and picked another trending thread as she read through the comments.

"Shouldn’t you be asleep? I thought you wouldn’t be waking up until noon."

"I couldn’t sleep."

"Looks like I didn’t do a good job yesterday." Daniel pulled her under him with such force that Rachel shrieked. She looked at him in caution while his eyes flashed with sinister intention.

"Please don’t. I can’t handle it anymore," Rachel begged as she recalled all that had happened after dinner the previous night.

True to his words, Daniel had put the blindfold to use again. She was stripped naked and he made love to her for a long time.

Rachel didn’t know what had gotten into him. He had even flipped her onto her stomach and fucked her from behind. She didn’t despise anything that had happened the previous night. In all honesty, she loved every moment of it. However, she was still sore and couldn’t handle it anymore.

"Just what I thought." Daniel let her go immediately. He had no intentions of doing anything. He knew how intense and demanding he had been the previous night. They both needed to rest well.

"When are we returning home?" Rachel questioned. She didn’t want to return at all. She was too tired and lazy to move a muscle.

"Tomorrow. Let’s have a day for ourselves," Daniel mumbled and closed his eyes and Rachel too lay down on the bed and closed her eyes.

In no time, the couple drifted off to sleep, ignoring the chaos the outside world was in.

Meanwhile, the Carter Group and the Adler law firm were busy handling the sensational news they had thrown at the world. They kept an eye and ensured no one with malicious intentions stirred trouble.

It was a crucial period. A small pebble could disturb the calmness, and that was the last thing they wanted, especially when Arnold Adler’s political career was on the rise.

Aria clicked her tongue when she saw the live news on the television. "The reporters are sure rejuvenated," she commented as she peeled an apple.

Arnold was being blocked by a flock of reporters outside his law firm.

"Well, it’s been a long time since they got some juicy news," Ivy agreed.

"Mr. Adler, the news about your son, Daniel Adler, and Rachel Carter’s engagement was made public today. Was it a political strategy? Was it all your plan all along?" one of the reporters asked daringly.

Arnold chuckled at his words. "I am bemused by your thinking. My son and Rachel Carter have been in a relationship for quite some time. They wished to take the next step and start a family. Neither of our families have any problems with it. How did it become a political strategy?"

His reply put the reporters on a spot but they didn’t give up yet.

"Mr. Adler, with the Carter Group supporting you, you now have quite a lot of power. There’s no doubt that you’d win the elections if you were to contest."

"Let me make it clear here." Arnold’s expression turned serious and he looked straight into the camera as he spoke. "The Carters and the Adlers are about to become a family. It is neither a political strategy nor a ploy to aid me in the elections. The Carters will not be involving in my political matters."

"I wonder whose plan it was to release the news about Danny and Rachel," Ivy commented. It had given Arnold an edge over his competitors in the party and even on the man who would be contesting as his opposition.

"That was a masterstroke."

Arnold could say anything he wanted. But his son and daughter-in-law had only aided him in his political career. His path to become the President would be smooth from now on.

Aria didn’t say it but the sisters knew it was Noah’s move. The man thought ahead and had planned everything for his sister. He wouldn’t allow anyone to disrupt Rachel’s smooth sailing life.

"Where are Noah and Joshua by the way? I haven’t seen them since morning," Ivy asked curiously.

Surprisingly, Joshua hadn’t pestered her all morning and it had been more than twelve hours since she last saw him.

"Just tell directly that you are missing Joshua, Ivy. You don’t need to beat around the bush," Aria teased and Ivy rolled her eyes in dismay.

Although it was the truth to some extent, she wasn’t willing to accept it. She had become accustomed to Joshua’s presence the moment she opened her eyes every day. To not have him around for once felt strange and dull.

"I was just asking. Who’s missing him?" Ivy scoffed and Aria giggled.

"You don’t have to lie, Ivy. I know it. As for your question, Noah and Joshua have gone to visit Jared." Aria smiled and handed her a piece of apple. "After all, all the bombs have been detonated and we aren’t in danger anymore."
