Chapter 853: Perfect revenge

"Hello, Jared. How are you doing today?" Joshua chirped as he walked inside the cell with Noah and Ian right on his heels. "You must be depressed. Am I right? After all, we foiled all your plans."

Jared scoffed, enduring the pain in his body. Every part of him ached and the feeling was worse than death. He was being tormented daily and wasn’t given proper food or medicine, just enough to survive.

"Keep rejoicing. Do you think I am that easy to defeat?" he muttered. Even speaking was a strenuous and agonizing task. Yet, he didn’t give up. Since he was going to die soon, he went all out.

"I don’t think it, I am sure of it," Joshua declared, giving him a cryptic look. "We did defeat you. You lost."

Jared remained silent. He didn’t believe a word they were saying. It didn’t matter if they foiled all his plans. He still had a trump card.

"You know I should thank you," Noah stated all of a sudden, taking over the conversation. "If not for your hint, I wouldn’t have discovered your gift for me."

Jared’s heart skipped a beat and his eyes quivered. Yet, he didn’t react, waiting for Noah to finish speaking.

"By the way, did anyone remind you of today’s date?" Noah derailed and looked at his watch.

This time, Jared reacted drastically. Even with his injuries, the three men could see how frightened he was.

"You have guessed it right. It is the day." Noah clicked his tongue and shook his head. "Alas, you couldn’t succeed in your evil plan. We have found all the bombs you have hidden in the country. All of them."

Jared wasn’t a fool to not understand the underlying meaning behind his words. Noah wasn’t lying. His tone said it all. They had truly discovered all the bombs. His trump card was nothing before them. It was just trash.

"How is it possible? How is it possible? No, no, no, no." Jared shook his head in denial. But it was the truth. He had to accept it.

"Your reign is over, Jared. It wasn’t nice knowing you." Noah smiled at him, his face devoid of any emotion.

Jared went numb. He didn’t hear a word they had said. All that he had in his mind was that he had failed. All his plans had been foiled. He was a total loser.

"This can’t be happening. No, no, no," he kept mumbling and Joshua glanced at Ian questioningly.

"It seems like he has lost his mind," Ian remarked nonchalantly.

"Wow, a fool and a loser. What a combo!" Joshua was delighted and kept deriding him.

His words only served to agitate Jared all the more. He lost his sanity completely and started pulling at his restraints. Agitated, he began banging his head against the wall. The barely healed wounds opened again and he started bleeding.

Joshua hurried to stop him. But Noah intervened and shook his head. Even Ian prevented him from moving forward. Jared didn’t seem to be in his right state of mind. Approaching him now wasn’t the best decision.

Jared started laughing and crying at the same time, his madness taking over him. The three men were invisible to him. It was he and his misery.

Noah watched him coldly, not concealing his hatred and disgust for him. Jared had single-handedly harmed almost everyone around him. He loathed him the most.

Now, seeing him become a lunatic didn’t appease him. Although he was happy that the threat in their lives was finally eradicated, the lingering fear of almost losing his loved ones made him hate Jared all the more.

Noah pursed his lips and glanced at Ian who was already looking at him. Nodding at him faintly, he got to action and threw a knife in Jared’s direction.

Jared was busy harming himself, pulling at his restraints until they dug into his wrists, leaving bite marks everywhere. He didn’t see the knife.

However, that didn’t mean Joshua didn’t. Stunned, he turned to Noah instantly, his eyes filled with questions.

"Although I want Ivy to avenge herself and kill Jared, I don’t want her to go through what Aria is experiencing," Noah said, his eyes stuck on Jared.

"We have been accustomed to death and blood and can endure it. However, Ivy cannot. I don’t want her innocent eyes to be tainted," he explained and Joshua was convinced.

Aria had killed people too. Yet, she had been traumatized by the incident and she had nightmares even now. She could barely sleep for more than five hours daily. When a woman like her was affected, they couldn’t say what would happen to Ivy.

Ivy was a gentle soul. She had never harmed anyone, let alone killed anyone. They didn’t want her to go through what Aria was experiencing. Even though they weren’t sure of the possibility, it wasn’t worth the risk.

"I understand. She should stay far away from him. It’s best for her mental health," Joshua agreed. "She is happy now. There is no need for her to get involved in bloody matters."

Noah nodded and waited. Although they hadn’t informed Joshua beforehand, they had come with the intention of killing Jared. He was done being alive. It was time for him to die.

They didn’t mind killing him themselves. But it was better if he ended his life himself. That was the greatest revenge they could ever take.

Jared kept pulling at the restraints for quite some time until his eyes fell on the knife. He froze in his spot instantly and eyed it for a long time.

But once he finally reacted, he pounced at it and picked it up as if it was some treasure. He didn’t aim at the restraints or his wrists. Instead, he slit his throat directly, much to the men’s surprise.

Blood splattered everywhere and he choked in pain. The scene was gruesome and bloody. However, the three men remained unaffected as they watched Jared take his last breath.

It was only when Jared stopped breathing that they sighed in relief, and their shoulders dropped. The threat to their lives had finally been eliminated.
