Chapter 849: Wedding plans

The next day, the Carters and the Adlers were scheduled to meet. Aria didn’t join them this time as she wasn’t family yet. So, it was just Noah.

"How are you, Grandpa?" Noah greeted his grandfather and sat beside him while they waited for the Adler family to arrive.

"Good, good." Jonathan was beaming. He looked happy, rejuvenated, and most of all, relieved.

"Master hasn’t stopped smiling since you called him yesterday, Noah," Theo explained the reason behind his smiles.

"How can I not be relieved? We aren’t in danger anymore. We are all safe. We are safe," he repeated as if it would testify that they weren’t in danger anymore. "Moreover, with my granddaughter’s upcoming wedding, I only have reasons to be happy."

Jonathan tapped his cane twice and gave Noah a look that the man was all too familiar with.

"When are you marrying, Aria?"

Noah wasn’t surprised by his question. He had expected him to enquire about it. He’d be surprised if his old man didn’t ask him. "Soon, Grandpa. Soon."

Jonathan wasn’t sure of his answer. It was clear that Noah was being half-hearted and brushing him off lightly. He didn’t seem to have any intentions of marrying Aria any time soon.

"If you don’t want to marry Aria soon, give a few grandkids at least. You can marry whenever you want."

Noah smiled helplessly, unable to curb his old man’s enthusiasm. It was always the topic of babies that excited him the most until he couldn’t stop grinning.

"Grandpa..." Noah didn’t know what to say. Although marrying Aria was on the agenda, he wasn’t that keen on having babies this soon. They were still young and they had yet to explore the world together. He wanted to spend more time with Aria and was unwilling to share her with anyone.

Kids would take a lot of their time, especially Aria’s, and that was the last thing he wanted. He couldn’t do it, not currently at least.

"Your expression says you don’t want to have kids." Jonathan narrowed his eyes and glared at him as if it would motivate Noah to have kids faster.

"I’ll think about it after I marry Aria. We are still young to become parents."

"You..." Jonathan was annoyed and he looked at him in disgust. But before he could reprimand him more, Samuel, Hailey, and Rachel arrived and he had to halt the conversation.

While the older couple greeted Jonathan warmly, Rachel was all bashful and ecstatic. Her face was glowing and anyone who saw her would see how contented she was.

"Good, good. Come here, sweetie." Jonathan beckoned Rachel to his side and glanced at Noah, forcing the man to vacate his seat for his sister.

"Hello, Grandpa. Good morning."

"Good morning. Good morning. How are you, dear?"

"I’m good, Grandpa. How are you?"

"Good, good. With all good events happening one after the other, I am over the moon."

None of the people in the room weren’t oblivious to the truth to not understand what the old Carter was referring to. But they didn’t bring up the topic. Rachel’s marriage was their priority.

"When will the Adler family arrive?"

"Dad, they will be here by 11," Samuel answered for him. "By the way Noah, would you mind telling us why you are rushing for Rachel to marry Daniel? Is it because of the elections?"

Samuel knew his son the best. There had to be a reason for Noah to rush his sister. Otherwise, he’d never interfere in this matter.

"Yes, Dad. You already know the circumstances. Mr. Adler needs a push. Otherwise, it’ll be difficult for him to represent his party."

Rachel’s lips parted, realization dawning upon her instantly. Nevertheless, her brother had taken a sudden interest in her marriage. It was to help the Adler family and help her secure her life.

Noah glanced at Rachel who seemed to have gone into a trance. "You don’t have to be so touched, Rach. I’m doing this to benefit us in the long run. After all, I’m a businessman and benefits are all I seek."

Rachel rolled her eyes in dismay and huffed lightly. "Did you have to ruin the touching moment? I was just about to praise you. I’ll take them all back."

"Good. Reserve them for your husband," Noah teased and Rachel glared at him.

"Grandpa, look at him. He is pulling my leg," Rachel complained, leaning against her grandfather coquettishly, and the old man was overjoyed.

"That is all he can do in life," Jonathan deadpanned and Noah was speechless.

"Grandpa, did you have to thrash me in such a brutal way?"

Jonathan didn’t reply and focused on his granddaughter instead.

The Adler family arrived before the clock struck eleven. While Daniel was nervous and excited at the same time, his parents, Arnold and Pamela, however, were respectful and polite as they maintained their grace. They weren’t overly accommodating or flattered them to the moon.

Jonathan was satisfied with Rachel’s choice. Not just him, even Samuel and Hailey were pleased with Daniel and they couldn’t stop praising him.

"Have you decided on the date?" Hailey raised the topic and looked at Rachel and Daniel.

"Yes, Mrs. Carter. Rachel and I have decided. It will be on the 20th of April."

Nobody had any qualms with it. April 20th was a Sunday, a perfect day for the wedding and they had more than a month to prepare.

"Amazing! Do you have any expectations?" Jonathan was the one who spoke to them and looked at Arnold in particular.

"No, Mr. Carter. We have left everything to Daniel and Rachel to decide. It’s their wedding."

The Carters were extremely satisfied with the Adlers. They treated Rachel really well and Daniel’s love for her was visible in his eyes. She was the only one the man had in his eyes.

The date was fixed and the time was set. Everything else was left for the couple to decide.

The Adlers took their leave first, leaving Daniel with Rachel. Once they were gone, Noah too left the mansion. He still had a lot of work to handle, with his hotel being his priority.

"So, what do you think?" Jonathan asked his son as he sipped his tea.

"I like them," Samuel replied honestly. "Arnold Adler is principled and honest. His law firm is one of the best in the country and the man has never been involved in shady business. And Daniel is a brilliant lawyer as well. His future is limitless."

"I agree. I asked around and Mrs. Adler is kind and virtuous. She doesn’t have a mean bone at all. Our Rachel will be happy," Hailey added and Jonathan nodded.

Jonathan trusted Noah. If he said Daniel was perfect for Rachel, he had no reason to believe otherwise. One of his grandchild’s life was settled. He only hoped for the other grandchild to be enlightened soon as well.
