Chapter 833: Explosive news - Part 1

"Ivy, I missed you," Sasha sang as she ran inside the room and hugged her, knocking the breath out of her body.

"Oh my, calm down, Sasha. Ivy looks like she wants to strangle you," Kira joked from behind.

"Ivy won’t strangle me. She loves me the most." Sasha wrapped an arm around Ivy’s neck and turned around as she snuck out her tongue teasingly.

"How are you, Ivy?" Max, the sanest one in the group, asked, smiling at her in greeting.

Ivy nodded, silently conveying her answer through her eyes.

"We are fine as well. It’s just that we miss you," Cedric replied for everyone and Ivy smiled at him.

Sasha moved aside and stood beside Cedric, her eyes falling on the man who had been watching their every move silently.

"Hello, Mr. Martin," Max greeted him first and the rest followed. To them, he was still Ivy’s boyfriend. They had no idea about their breakup.

Joshua greeted them back, hiding his jealousy behind his calm facade. He was jealous of Sasha. How he wished to hug Ivy as well! How he wanted to hold her in his arms like he used to cling to her before!

Alas, it was all his wishful thinking! It wasn’t the same between them and it might take a few months, years even to return to normal let alone start dating again.

Joshua was already glad Ivy had allowed him to sleep beside her and hold her hand. He didn’t push his luck and ask for more lest he irked her and got kicked out of the room. It was already a blessing for him that she allowed him to stay by her side.

Ivy stared at Joshua and tilted her head and the man got her message instantly. Her friends were there. So, she was asking him to get lost.

Joshua pouted, utterly unwilling to leave the room. He wanted to be in the room and accompany her, not because her friends were there. He just wanted to be with Ivy all the time.

But Joshua knew he would only be inviting his death if he stayed any longer. So, he stood up and smiled at the four people watching their exchange quietly.

"You guys talk. I’ll see where Ian is." Joshua nodded at them and glanced at Ivy who was watching him impassively before leaving the room.

"What tacit understanding!" Sasha gushed and clasped her hands, her eyes shining like the stars. "Nevertheless, you two are together. Did you see the love and indulgence in his eyes for Ivy?" She questioned Cedric who was right beside her.

Ivy bit her lip and hesitated. Since the truth couldn’t be changed, there was no use hiding it. So, she picked up her notepad and wrote a string of words before showing it to her friends.

’Joshua and I broke up. We aren’t together anymore.’

An awkward silence filled the room and Sasha, especially felt guilty was speaking nonsense and pricking Ivy’s wounds when she was already suffering.

"I’m so sorry, Ivy. I didn’t know..."

’It’s fine, Sasha. You didn’t know about it.’ Ivy wrote on the notepad and showed it to her. ’Please sit, guys. I’m going to strain my neck if you continue standing.’

"Oops, sorry," Cedric broke the awkwardness and pulled one of the chairs while Max dragged another while Kira and Sasha sat on the bed beside Ivy.

"So, how are you doing, Ivy?" Max started, slowly inching towards the serious topic.

’Max, please get me out of here. I’m bored out of my mind.’

Max blinked a few times before he burst out laughing. Even Cedric couldn’t help but chuckle while Kira and Sasha looked at them in confusion. Since Max and Cedric were sitting on Ivy’s right and they were on her left, they couldn’t see what Ivy had written on the notepad.

’Don’t you dare laugh. I never realized how difficult it is to wait for time to pass when you have nothing to do.’ Ivy glared at him as she showed him her words.

’I’m about to lose my mind and in a few days, you might find a lunatic in place of your friend.’

"Well, it’d be interesting to see Ivy go crazy. What do you think, Max?" Cedric tapped his index finger under his chin and mused loud enough for everyone to hear and Ivy narrowed her eyes at him.

’Then, I’m going to strangle you first once I go crazy. Watch me,’ Ivy threatened and Cedric raised his hands in surrender immediately.

"Spare me. I’m not the one who has imprisoned you here. If you want to blame someone, blame your sister."

And that was enough for Ivy to give up. Even if everyone agreed to her returning to work, Aria wouldn’t, and going against her was the last thing she would ever do. An angry Aria was a scary Aria and she wasn’t willing to see that face of hers.

’It’s just for a week. I can wait until then,’ she thought and stopped arguing.

"Looks like we found out who can keep Ivy in check," Kira remarked, her eyes flashing with mirth. "If we ever need to control Ivy, we should approach her sister."

Ivy gave her a death glare, only to receive a wink.

"It’s only for a few days, Ivy. Bear with you. Anyway, you’ll be starting work from Monday," Max came to everyone’s rescue and eased the situation.

"You are already returning in a week and you dare to threaten me. Wait, let me complain to your sister," Cedric gnashed his teeth in annoyance even though he was anything but annoyed.

Ivy pointed her finger at him and huffed. Picking up her notepad, she wrote a message quickly and showed it to Cedric who was obviously trying to rile her up.

’You are taking advantage of me coz I can’t speak right now, right? Wait until I get my voice and mobility back. If I don’t kick you until you cry for Mama, I’m not Ivy.’

"Oooo, I’m scared," Cedric shivered and moved his chair away from Ivy’s bed, increasing the distance between them.

At first, no one reacted. But soon, everyone burst out laughing one by one. Their laughter didn’t cease for a long time and it wasn’t until Oliver arrived with some snacks that silence fell over.
