Chapter 832: Impromptu date

Chapter 832: Impromptu date

"How did it go?" Noah didn’t speak a word when Aria came out of the doctor’s office. But he couldn’t resist asking once they had hit the roads.

"I’d say it went well," Aria replied, still trying to fathom all that had happened an hour ago. Although she wasn’t a psychiatrist, she knew a thing or two. She was still surprised by how her first session had gone.

"Then, why do you look so perturbed?" Noah didn’t miss the strange expression on her face and leaned closer to her to ensure everything was alright.

"The session was odd though."

"Odd? How?"

"The doctor didn’t ask me anything related to my trauma. We didn’t get to that topic at all." Aria folded her hands and thought about it again.

"Then, what did you two converse about?" Noah was intrigued. Since Ian suggested the psychiatrist, he didn’t doubt her professionalism or skills. It just had to be her way of treating patients.

"Some random topics. She was more interested in my hobbies and how I kept myself occupied when I wasn’t working." Aria still couldn’t fathom how those questions could help her. Albeit skeptical, she decided to trust the doctor and wait for the results.

"Interesting," Noah mused.

"She’ll email me my treatment plan for the week in some time and I’ll have to follow it until our next appointment."

"That’s doable." Noah took it upon himself to take care of Aria and watch over her until she recovered. His lady could be negligent sometimes and disregarding her health was the last thing he wanted.

"Any word from Deputy or Ethan?" Aria was curious.

It had been more than half a day since their conversation the previous evening and they were yet to receive updates from the team. Anxiety kept gnawing at everyone’s hearts and until all the bombs were detonated, they couldn’t rest assured.

"There has been no news until now. Hopefully, we get something by the end of the day."

Noah had become talkative again. He had been stressed out of his mind in the morning, fretting over Aria’s appointment with the psychiatrist. Now that she was done meeting the doctor and felt well, he finally relaxed and his tense muscles loosened up.

"Are Ivy’s friends coming home to meet her today?"

"Yep. They must be there already." Noah glanced at his watch and nodded.

"They are a good bunch."

"They sure are," Noah agreed. "What do you want to do now?"

"What do you mean?" Aria frowned and gave him a puzzled look, not understanding what he was getting at.

"You don’t have to work today and I don’t have anything to do either. Why don’t we go on a date?" Noah suggested. The thought had come to him on a whim. Given all that had happened and all that they had suffered, they deserved a break. A date was the perfect way to forget all the stress for some time.

"What about Ivy?" Aria wasn’t sure. She had promised her sister to return home by dinner time. Although they still had around four hours for dinner, she couldn’t make up her mind if she wanted to go on a date or not

"Don’t worry. We’ll return home by dinner time," Noah promised and Aria eventually agreed.

"Fine. Where are we going?"

"It’s a surprise," Noah winked at her, keeping the mystery alive and Aria blinked a few times, her mind going blank at his mischievous smile.

"Why the suspense? Please tell me." Aria gave him her puppy eyes and tilted her head.

"Cute, but no." Noah shook his head and remained mum. He didn’t reveal anything, not even a breath.

"Fine, I’ll ask Ronnie." Aria huffed and turned to Ronnie who was driving silently.

"Ronnie, where are we going?"

Ronnie nearly lost control of the car the moment Aria pulled him into their conversation and he gaped at her like a fish out of water.

"Madam?" He didn’t know what to reply and looked at her dumbly before turning to his Boss who was smiling at him. But that smile creeped the hell out of him, making him shiver and clutch the steering wheel tight.

"Stop scaring him. Can’t you see that he was about to lose control of the car?" Aria rebuked Noah with a glare.

"That only means he is inefficient in driving." Noah shrugged as if he wasn’t the one to be blamed and Aria rolled her eyes.

Meanwhile, Ronnie gulped in fright. He had been with his Boss for a long time. How could he not understand the underlying threat behind his seemingly casual words? His Boss was warning him to remain silent if he loved his life. Otherwise, no one could save, not even Aria.

"Madam, I don’t know where we are going either," He replied, not caring how absurd his answer was. Saving his life was more important than his face. Face? What was face? Could he eat it?

"You..." Aria didn’t know if she should laugh or cry at his words. Who knew Ronnie would end up cracking a joke at such a moment?

"Aren’t you driving the car? Don’t you know where we are going?" Aria asked helplessly and when she didn’t receive any response from him this time, she gave up probing.

"This silence is going to cost you, Mister." She glared at Noah again and huffed in annoyance.

"I’m all yours. You may do anything you want." Noah spread his arms, surrendering himself to her.

Aria grumbled under her breath and turned her head away from him, ignoring his laughter and his attempts to speak to her. She didn’t look at him until Ronnie stopped driving the car.

"Why have we come to the lake?" Aria’s eyes widened in surprise when she saw the clear lake ahead of her. The place was completely deserted. Other than them, there was no one in the vicinity and that made it all the more amazing.

"I thought we could do some kayaking." Noah didn’t hide it from her this time and led her towards the kayaks.

"Kayaking?"

"Yeah. Wanna give it a try?"

"Sure. Why not? But why don’t I see anyone else here?" Aria looked around. Other than the man in charge of the lake, she found no one else.

"Let’s just say I reserved the spot for the next two hours."

"You evil capitalists throwing your money around," Aria complained even though she was anything but complaining.

"And you are this evil capitalist’s girlfriend. So, that makes you evil as well."

"Are you going to continue talking or go kayaking with me? I’m excited. It’s my first time."

Aria didn’t wait for Noah and ran towards the kayaks and Noah could do nothing but follow her with an indulgent look in his eyes.
