Chapter 816: Irked Ivy

Joshua was a second later than Noah and eventually ended up carrying air as he entered Noah’s mansion with Ian in tow.

’Damn it!’ He cursed lowly under his breath, reprimanding himself for not having driven over quickly.

"Are you tired, Ivy? Do you want me to show you your room?"

Joshua heard Noah’s question the moment he entered the mansion and his eyes examined Ivy immediately. ’She does she tired. Maybe the journey was too much for her.’ He thought, a faint sense of suffocation hitting him.

"Yes, please. I want to rest for a while." Ivy smiled at Noah in gratitude and looked around as he started pushing her wheelchair.

"To make it easier for you, you’ll stay in one of the rooms on the ground floor, Ivy. It is closer to Dad’s room. So, you have nothing to worry about." Noah explained and pushed open the door to one of the rooms on the ground floor.

Ivy instantly studied the room that would be hers temporarily and nodded to herself. The room was comfortable and pleasant, and she instantly relaxed. Her mood turned for the better, forgetting about Joshua momentarily.

"Don’t hesitate to ask me if you need anything," Noah added as he pushed her wheelchair towards the bed.

Noah was about to help her. But Joshua was quicker than him and he lifted Ivy with ease, startling her by his sudden appearance. She had failed to notice him among the group of people and even more so when her attention had been on the room, rather than anything else.

Glancing at her with a tender look, he lowered her slowly and placed her on the bed gently. Pulling the duvet to her thighs, he stepped back and stood silently, ignoring everyone else.

Joshua’s attention was all on Ivy. He didn’t give a damn about anyone else. They didn’t matter to him, at least not when he had Ivy to focus on.

Ivy glared at him, cussing him in her mind. If she could speak, Joshua would know how vast her vocabulary was when it came to hurling profanities.

"Don’t glare at me, darling. It’ll have no effect on me." Joshua winked at her cheekily and Ivy rolled her eyes, unable to tolerate the annoying man anymore.

"Noah, where am I staying?" Joshua asked loudly when Ivy’s gaze moved away from him.

"What?" Noah was momentarily taken aback at being dragged into the conversation all of a sudden and he went blank.

"My room. Which room will I be staying in?" Joshua clarified

Noah narrowed his eyes when he discerned what Joshua was trying to do. He could have asked him outside the room. Heck, he didn’t even have to ask him. He knew which room he could take. Yet, he had to go ahead and ask him loudly in front of Ivy.

If he wasn’t trying to rile Ivy up, what else was he doing?

’Idiot.’ Noah scolded in his mind, unable to ignore the look Ivy was giving. When he met her eyes, he didn’t miss her silent request. She was pleading with him to not allow Joshua to stay at the mansion,

Stuck in a dilemma, Noah didn’t know what to do and he glanced at Aria was equally flustered as him. However, before he could speak a word, Joshua took charge again.

"Oh, wait. I already have a room here. Sorry, I forgot." He smiled playfully, rendering Noah speechless and Ivy fuming.

"Ivy, do you want to have something? Perhaps, some fruits?" Aria came forward and blocked Ivy’s gaze. She didn’t want to let her sister lose her mind the moment she returned home.

’I need to have a word with Joshua later. He is close to driving Ivy crazy.’ Aria thought as she waited for Ivy to speak.

"Or something to drink?" Aria added when she didn’t receive any response from Ivy.

This time, Ivy blinked. She was thirsty and wanted something cold and refreshing.

"Do you want water or some juice?"

Ivy blinked twice and Aria clapped her hands. "Juice, is it? I’ll be right back."

Aria nodded and turned to Joshua who was still gazing at Ivy as if she was the only one in the room. Without another word, Aria dragged him out with him.

"Aria, what are you doing?" Joshua cried and struggled to get out of her hold. Surprisingly, she was quite strong. Even though her hold wasn’t strong enough for him to not break free from it, he didn’t, not intending to hurt her.

"What are you doing?" Aria hissed once they were out of the room and away from Ivy’s hearing range.

"What am I doing?" Joshua looked at her, puzzled.

"Don’t pretend to be dumb, Joshua. You know what I am referring to." Aria seethed and Joshua raised his hands in surrender when he realized he was only irking her all the more by pretending to be ignorant.

"I’m just doing what I am supposed to do."

"What do you mean?" Aria folded her hands and looked at him with a frown.

"I meant what I said. Ivy might be angry with me right now, but that doesn’t mean she will be forever. And I am trying to make sure she doesn’t, that’s all."

"You..." Aria didn’t know if she should smack him first or give him a good hearing. The man could be super infuriating if he wanted, and right now, he was being just that.

"And Aria, don’t worry. I know my limits. I won’t do anything that will jeopardize Ivy’s health." Joshua stated seriously and promised her, once again rendering Aria bereft of speech.

"I don’t know, Joshua." Aria sighed, her shoulders dropping in defeat. "I don’t know. Since Ivy decides the fate of your relationship, I’ll leave it to her. Just don’t do anything to hurt her."

"Never." Joshua shook his head immediately. "I promise."

Admitting defeat, Aria let out another sigh and went in the direction of the kitchen, leaving him alone outside the room.

"Ivy may decide the fate of our relationship, Aria."Joshua looked at the closed door behind him, his expression soft and eyes filled with indulgence and obsession. "But it’ll be what I want it to be. I’ll never let go of her, ever."
