Chapter 814: Discharged - Part 1

Chapter 814: Discharged - Part 1

"Doctor, how is she?" Aria bit her nervously and held her breath while waiting for the doctor to finish checking Ivy.

Even though she was a doctor, she didn’t trust herself. It was as if all other doctors were better than her when it came to treating Ivy.

The doctor remained silent and wet through all the reports. He even checked Ivy’s vitals thoroughly before looking at her thoughtfully.

Ivy, however, was awfully calm, unlike her sister. She even smiled faintly when she met the doctor’s eyes.

"Ivy, can you try to speak again?" The doctor requested, his keen eyes observing her for any signs of discomfort on her face.

Ivy opened her mouth and started speaking. Yet, no voice left her lips. It was the same outcome as the first time she had tried to speak after gaining consciousness.

"What about your legs? Can you try moving your legs?" The doctor was as gentle as possible as he glanced at her legs.

This time, Ivy tried moving her legs and like countless other times, she failed to move even an inch. However, she didn’t give up and tried a few more times, and in a few seconds, she was covered with sweat.

"Doctor, what’s happening? Why can’t Ivy still speak or walk?" Aria was dying of anxiety and she grasped Noah’s hand tight to remain standing.

The doctor pursed his lips and stared at Ian who too held a similar expression as him. "Doctor West, Ivy’s muteness and her inability to walk are temporary as I said before. She was injured in the brain and this must be the side effect. I see no clots in her brains or any problems in her tests. She is perfectly fit and is recovering well."

The doctor stated and even nodded at Ivy assuringly. "It is just a matter of time before she gains her speech and starts walking. Don’t stop trying, Ivy. I’m sure you be backing on your feet and kicking some ass soon." He teased trying to lighten up the somber mood and Ivy smiled widely, not doubting his word at all. She definitely had some asses to kick.

"When can we take Ivy home doctor?" Oliver enquired, concealing his worries behind his hopeful smile. Maybe a change in the environment could heal her. He thought.

It had been more than a month since Ivy gained consciousness and all her wounds had healed. Except for her inability to speak and walk, she was completely fine.

"Well," the doctor thought about it before staring at Ivy. "I can discharge Ivy whenever she wants. But I need her to come back for check-ups regularly. I need to make sure nothing goes wrong while recuperating."

Ivy nodded, her smile faltering slightly as she looked at her legs. ’Will I never be able to speak or walk again?’ She thought, hiding her depressed state from the others around her as much as possible. Yet, she failed miserably.

Ivy couldn’t hide her state from anyone and everyone, including the doctor felt terrible for her. Aria especially was close to bursting into tears again when she saw her sister’s expression.

"Don’t lose hope, Ivy. You will start walking and speaking again. It’s just a matter of time." The doctor promised and Ivy didn’t doubt him, neither did the others, and eventually, they cheered up a little.

At least, there was some good news after a long time. They could bring Ivy home.

Once the doctor took his leave, Ivy fet a shadow pounce on her, pushing her back heavily. "Isn’t it great, Ivy? You can finally go home now. You can finally take a good bath. You stink. Do you know that?"

Ivy was rendered speechless by her sister and she let out a helpless laugh. Pushing Aria away slightly, she looked at her teasingly. "Well, now you stink as well."

Aria was the first one to lose it and she burst out laughing and Ivy followed suit immediately after. Seeing the sisters joking around merrily, everyone’s spirits were raised as well and they forgot about the terrible things for the time being.

"When do you want to leave, Ivy?" Ian was prepared to handle the discharge procedures. All Ivy had to do was tell him the date.

Ivy nodded once and everyone understood her immediately.

"Today?"

Ivy nodded again. She was bored out of her mind staying in the ward and the hospital was now making her sick. She needed a change of scenery and wanted to leave the hospital as soon as possible.

"That works. Let me handle the discharge procedure."

While Ian left the ward to complete the discharge procedure, the others started to pack up.

Ivy raised her head twice questioningly and Aria smiled faintly.

"Are you asking me where we will be going?"

Ivy nodded.

"Where do you want to go?"

Ivy shrugged, not knowing what to reply to her. She had two choices. One - their apartment. Two - Noah’s mansion. Even though she didn’t intend to be a problem for anyone, she had an inkling that Aria would bring her with her and force her to stay in Noah’s mansion, at least until she recovered completely.

Not once did she think about Joshua who was staring at her expectantly. She wouldn’t ever step into his house or anything that belonged to him.

"I know you wouldn’t want to trouble us. But you and Dad will be staying with us." Aria declared, leaving no room for objections.

Ivy gestured towards Noah, silently asking her to consider his opinion as well.

"His opinions don’t matter. You don’t have to worry about it. He is more than happy to have you guys with us." Aria answered for him and once again, Ivy didn’t know if she should laugh or cry on seeing how domineering her sister acted.

Even though Aria behaved that way, Ivy knew that it was a decision the couple had made a long time ago. So, it wasn’t anything against Noah’s will and he was genuinely happy to have them home.

Ivy shrugged again, silently saying she was fine with the arrangement if they didn’t have any problem with it. After all, did she have a choice? No, she didn’t.
