Chapter 781: Waking up?
Chapter 781: Waking up?
Nine days passed just like that and almost everyone whom Ivy was close to had heard about the incident, including Max, Kira, Cedric, and Sasha and they too had come to visit her. Even Valerie, Ryder, Maggie and Preston had come to visit her, each of them shocked out of their core to see the state Ivy was in.
Oliver, Aria, Ian, and Noah took turns taking care of Ivy and staying with her. Every time they were with her, they made sure to speak to her about happy things and good memories, hoping for her to listen to them and wake up immediately.
Joshua had completely become a madman. He had moved to the hospital and didn’t leave from Ivy’s side even once. He’d constantly keep blabbering something to Ivy and even in other’s presence, he’d caress her hand and watch over her.
Meanwhile, Stuart had gained consciousness and was recovering slowly as well. His broken ribs were healing and Ian had made sure that he’d receive the best treatment and utmost care. The man after all had protected the two ladies with his life when he didn’t have to.
The men had even taken turns to visit him and express their gratitude for what he had done. Stuart was with Aria and Ivy when they needed help and had even put his life in jeopardy for them. He deserved their respect, gratitude, guilt, and regret.
If they had not failed at protecting Ivy, he wouldn’t have faced such a dreadful situation at all. Heck, Stuart was not even involved with any matter related to Jared. He was implicated because he helped Ivy and Aria.
It was the tenth day since Ivy went into a coma and not once had she shown any signs of waking up. There were no changes in her vital signs whatsoever. But none of them lost hope. Ivy had to wake up, for them, for herself and they believed she’d do so when she was ready.
Aria sat beside her sister while Joshua continued to caress her hand as he kept blabbering something like usual. Gentleness oozed out of his eyes as he looked at Ivy as if she was his precious treasure.
Aria ignored Joshua. Since the day he had broken up with her sister, he had become non-existent to her. She hadn’t spoken a word to him at all and wouldn’t speak as well. She treated him as air and didn’t acknowledge his presence even once.
"Ivy, do you remember you had once craved almond crepes so much that you made a fuss in the middle of the night and Dad had prepared it for you even though it was his first time making it?" Aria said. "I still can’t believe Dad did that. It was 2 at night and you wanted to eat almond crepes. Didn’t you get a better time to state your demands?" Aria complained as she reminisced about the good old days.
"Ivy, please wake up. We miss you so much." She mumbled as she choked on her tears, her mood changing all of a sudden. "You know I love you, right? Please wake up for me. Also," Her eyes hardened as she glared hard at the floor. "You’re yet to kill Jared. You need to start planning for it. How can you stay like this and allow the man who hurt you to gloat over it? It’s not fair."
The moment she finished speaking, there was a change in the beeping sound and Aria’s eyes shot up to the ECG. There was an obvious increase in her heartbeat rate. Even her brain waves had changed.
Aria was overjoyed and tears of happiness gushed out of her eyes. Immediately, she summoned the doctor and Ian, who had been on duty that day, rushed as well when one of the guards informed him.
"Doctor, how is my sister?" Aria stood beside Ian and looked hopefully at Ivy while the doctor checked Ivy thoroughly. While she was a doctor herself, she wanted someone else to confirm her thoughts. She needed another person’s opinions.
"This is a miracle." The doctor exclaimed as he observed Ivy’s vitals. "The patient finally responded to something you have said and it means she’s still there. She’s listening to everything that is happening around her."
"Doctor, then when is my sister going to wake up?" Aria smiled and cried in joy at the same time. It was the best news she had received in the last ten days.
"That is a little difficult for me to say. The patient is responding and there is a high chance, she’ll wake up soon. But I won’t deny the possibility of her not waking up at all as well. I don’t want to give you false hopes." The doctor smiled in sorrow and noticed Aria’s smile vanish the next instant.
"But I do suggest you keep talking to her. Something you said must have triggered her to show such a huge reaction, Doctor West. Maybe if you continue speaking about it, it might motivate her to wake up soon." The doctor suggested and Ian glanced at Aria as he wondered what she had said that had triggered Ivy.
"I understand, Doctor. Thank you so much." Aria’s eyes didn’t leave Ivy even once as she stared at her thoughtfully.
Ian asked a few more questions to the doctor while Aria stood beside him and once they were done, they looked at each other for a few seconds.
"Jared." Aria answered his unasked question and Ian’s brows shot up in shock before he discerned what she was trying to say. His eyes immediately moved to Ivy as he pondered about it.
’Did Ivy react to Aria’s words because she wants to avenge herself?’ He wondered hopefully. If that was the case, then they had got a way to bring Ivy back and maybe, just maybe it’d not be long before she opened her eyes and woke up.
Meanwhile, Joshua had become oblivious to the world. He didn’t even react when the ECG beep changed or when the doctor came to check on Ivy. He had lost sense of everything else, everything but Ivy. She was the only one in his eyes, in his world. Nothing else mattered to him.
