Falling For My Accidental CEO Husband
Chapter 46: Free Time

Chapter 46: Free Time

"You! Tell me the truth!" Serena hissed as she tugged at his suit jacket. "Are you just an imposter? A figurehead of the company who doesn’t have a clue how to run it, only showing up here as some kind of puppet?"

Aiden blinked, "What do you mean?" he asked with uncertainty. Why did she have a havit of saying things so out of context like this?

"Then, do you have a body double or something who goes to work while you play around?"

"What exactly are you trying to get at?"

"Exactly what I said." She stepped closer, her eyes narrowing as she scrutinized him. "How is it that you always seem so free to indulge Grandma’s whims? She told you to go on a honeymoon, and you just agreed, no questions asked. Then you came along for shopping because she asked you to. I never imagined you as someone so... so compliant, so willing to play along without a second thought. So, what’s your real motive? Why are you so eager to please?"

"Why do you think I am eager to please someone and have some ulterior motive?"

"Because..." She gestured around them, frustration and confusion mingling in her expression. "Why else would we be here at a couple’s date event? It doesn’t add up."

"I need Grandma to believe in us. So, of course I have to make time. If I avoid you then she won’t believe that I fell in love with you at first sight..."

"Yes but..." Before she could say more, he picked up the choclate coated wafer stick into her mouth and said," Hush, the next game is about to begin."

Before she could react, the sound of a camera shutter clicking echoed through the room. The event photographer had appeared, ready to capture the moment. Serena’s heart skipped a beat as she realized what was coming next. Aiden, with that ever-present smirk on his face, leaned forward, his gaze locked onto hers.

He took the other end of the chocolate stick between his teeth as he leaned forward, his movements deliberate and slow, as if savoring the flavour. The room seemed to fade away, the chatter of other couples drowned out by the rapid pounding of her heart. Her breath hitched as he moved closer, each bite bringing him nearer while she tried to stay still.

The photographer moved around them, capturing every angle, but Serena barely noticed. All she could see was Aiden, his eyes never leaving hers, the teasing glint in them replaced by something deeper, more intense.

And then, just as the last inch of the stick disappeared, barely leaving a thin strip between them, his lips brushed against hers. The contact was soft but it sent a shockwave through her, jolting her. The sweetness of the chocolate mingled with the heat of that contact, and for a moment, everything else vanished.

Though everything had happened quickly, it seemed to have taken hours on end. And then, he took the second stick in his mouth and she gulped.

His hands slid to her hips and he pulled her close, while raising a challenging brow at her. She leaned up on her toes and slowly started to eat the stick.

As she took another bite, her lips brushed against his again, but she quickly stepped back as she realized that the photographer had finally walked away. She placed the thin left over stick on the plate for inspection before looking away," I need to go to the restroom."

Aiden watched her go, heat in his eyes before walking behind her slowly.

Serena stood in front of the restroom mirror, staring at her reflection as if trying to make sense of what had just happened. Her cheeks were flushed, her breathing uneven. Was this really her? Why did he start having that kind of an effect on her.

She knew why of course. She was attracted to him. In fact, she was probably head over heels in LUST with him. But this was too much! She shook her head, trying to shake off the feeling and reminded herself that she could not let herself be distracted just because he was super hot and all that.

Just as she was about to shake off the feeling and talk some sense into herself, the door behind her swung open. He didn’t say a word as he approached, and before she could react, his hands were on either side of her, resting on the counter. His chest pressed lightly against her back, his breath hot against her ear as he leaned in.

"This is for ladies only..."

"No one’s going to disturb us..."

Aiden didn’t give her time to form a coherent thought. He nuzzled her neck, his lips brushing against her skin as he spoke, his voice low and teasing. "You never did get the answers to the questions you asked me."

"What questions?" Serena managed to ask, though her brain was trying its best to shut down and concentrate on the feelings and sensations he was arousing in her.

You wanted to know why I’m always so eager to accompany you. Why I always seem to have time for whatever grandmother suggests."

"And?"

Aiden’s lips curved into a small, almost secretive smile as he kissed the spot behind her ear. "You’re the reason, Serena," he murmured, his fingers gently squeezing her waist. "I don’t need any other motive. I want to be near you, to spend time with you. That’s all there is to it."

"You... like me?" Serena asked, almost in disbelief and watched as he nodded," Hmm."

"Yes. I like you, Serena. More than I ever expected to or even wanted to."

She abruptly turned to face him, her eyes wide with a mix of confusion and curiosity. "Are you feeling alright? You’re not coming down with a fever or something, are you? Why are you talking all muddled and..."

He laughed then and shook his head," See, this is what I like about you. I tell you that I like you and you think I am sick? What do I do with you?"
