Serena felt trapped and helpless as she stared at the television, her eyes glued to the flickering images that provided no real update on Aiden. Every second that passed without news only intensified the anxiety pooling in her chest. Dammit! she thought, biting her lower lip to stop it from trembling. This was torture. Being here, unable to rush to his side, felt like a cruel punishment. Resisting the urge to push past Mahi and storm out of this place seemed like an impossible task.

The media footage switched between the exterior of the hospital and grainy shots of the crash site, but none of it offered any clarity. Serena’s frustration bubbled over. What had happened to the investigative skills of journalists? They were so busy clamoring for scraps of information, camping outside the hospital, that they had forgotten how to dig deeper for the truth.
