Falling For My Accidental CEO Husband -
Chapter 145: God Sent
Chapter 145: God Sent
"You really are a godsend, Miss Mahi," Serena said tiredly, sinking further into her chair. She watched as Mahi expertly handled the day’s chaos, arranging meetings, fielding calls from directors, and smoothly managing the procedures for Serena’s ’invasion’ of Nvidia. It was a relief to see everything so neatly under control, especially when Serena herself felt like she was running on fumes.
Miss Mahi gave her a small, prim smile. "Actually, I am your husband-sent."
Serena blinked, then let out a quiet laugh. "Touché, Miss Mahi. Alright, what do I need to know before we call it a day? And just give me a quick update on who I’m meeting tomorrow."
"I’ll email the schedule to you shortly," Miss Mahi replied efficiently, handing over a folder. "But here’s something I think you’ll want to see."
Serena frowned slightly. "Something I needed you to find out?" She hadn’t asked for anything like that, or had she and she did not remember...
She took the file, and as she opened it, her eyebrows shot up. While she might have eventually wanted to gather this kind of information, she hadn’t expected Miss Mahi to anticipate it so quickly—or in such detail.
Inside was a comprehensive dossier, detailing the personal and professional lives of every director on the board, along with every key member of the Dawn family. There were even detailed timelines of where each person had been during the attack on Jane, including transactions that looked suspiciously like they were made under the table.
What caught her attention most were the financial statements. The clear evidence of embezzlement from family members was laid out in black and white, and it wasn’t a small amount. Serena’s eyes scanned the figures—this wasn’t just minor siphoning; this was big.
Miss Mahi stood silently as Serena processed the contents. Serena looked up, her expression somewhere between impressed and stunned. "You... you dug all this up?"
"Yes," Miss Mahi replied, her tone calm. "I assumed you’d want this information as you step into your new role. It’s important to know exactly who you’re dealing with, and where the risks lie."
Serena glanced back at the file, shaking her head in mild disbelief. "This is... thorough," she said slowly.
Miss Mahi inclined her head slightly. "I aim to be thorough."
Serena nodded and watched the woman leave, shakign her head. Just where did Aiden dig up this gem? She was totally amazing.
As Serena sifted through the files, her eyes paused on Sidney’s profile. Like the others, Mahi had done a commendable job gathering his general background—his professional history, family ties, even his financial dealings were neatly laid out. But what caught Serena’s attention was the note Mahi had highlighted in red: There’s something murky about Sidney. Further investigation is advised.
Serena sighed, shaking her head. Sidney was a walking puddle of murk. Everyone who knew him sensed there was more going on beneath the surface, though most were smart enough not to dig. And Serena was no exception—she had no desire to get involved in whatever secrets Sidney was hiding. She wasn’t even willing to dip her toe into the waters.
Just then, a chime interrupted her thoughts. Serena glanced down at her phone, noting a new message notification. Her finger hovered over the screen as a sudden stillness came over her. The number. It was the same one that had warned her about Jane’s attack
Her pulse quickened as she opened the message.
"So, you’re still intent on getting into Nvidia, hmm? I warn you, step back. If you continue with your stubbornness, then you will also leave this earth before your time. Nvidia does not belong to Edwina’s blood. Step back now while you still can or ask your assistant to arrange a burial place for you as well. Maybe next to your grandmother and your father... after all they never heeded the warning, did they?"
Serena felt a chill snake down her spine. The message wasn’t long, but it hit like a cold slap. A direct threat. Someone wanted her gone—no, more than that—dead. But as unsettling as the words were, something else about the message nagged at her. Something felt... off. She couldn’t immediately place her finger on it, but her instincts flared in warning.
For one, this person had an eye on her and had already discovered that she had an assistant. So, she was being spied upon. But wasn’t this too quick? And secondly, this person had never really revealed themselves to her grandmother. But now, was openly accepting responsibility? Why?
If they had any enmity against her grandmother, shouldn’t it have been her grandmother who should have known. What kind of an enemy was this.
Hurriedly, she sent a message to Mahi, asking her to look into her grandmother’s past as well.
Shaking her head, Serena started to think things through when another message came in, making her even more uneasy- "Rena. I know you are investigating things. And I have come across a few things about the attack on Jane and the threats you’ve been receiving. Meet me tomorrow, at our old hangout, alone. I will be waiting for you."
Sidney knew about the threats? But how, when she had not mentioned this to even Aiden?
She looked at the dossier in front of her, the words highlighted in red. There was another way that Sidney might know that she was receiving threats. If he was somehow in touch with the person who was behind this. After all, this man had been showing extra interest in Nvidia despite owning a minimal stake...
Serena tapped her fingers on the table and sighed. She wanted to refuse this person. But knowing him, he would not give up. Just what was his problem now? If he had something to say, why not arrange a meeting here in the office. Why was he so intent on visiting the old places?
With an exasperated sigh, Serena jabbed her fingers onto the phone screen as she agreed to the meeting.
