FALLEN ANGEL: MARRIED TO THE DEMON KING
Chapter 87: THE BONDS THAT BIND (3)

Chapter 87: THE BONDS THAT BIND (3)

Castiel exhaled sharply, and his tightened fists relaxed slightly. Young Lady Darvia’s eyes looked at them both, her eyes bright with certainty that this was what she wanted, that she wanted the two of them. Velmoria was absolutely terrified by how comfortable the young lady was. She wished she could accept the bond as quickly.

On the other hand, Castiel, the angel who had part in taking the breath from her lungs, flexed his wings slightly, as if he was resisting an instinct to reach over. He could, if he wanted to, seeing as they were so close to each other. The halo at the top of his head bobbed up and down so quickly, an indicator of how his holy power was also going haywire.

Finally, Velmoria took in a small breath, and schooled her features. "Young Lady Darvia," she began again but the noble demon cut her off again.

"Nyx." Young Lady Darvia corrected her again, "Or Nyxie if you prefer. I mean it, Velmoria. I know, I can call you Mori, or if you do not like that, I can call you Vela. Oooh. I know, Loria."

Castiel’s chuckle was not something that Velmoria had been expecting, but the moment Young Lady Darvia started listing nicknames that they could use to address Velmoria, he had covered his lips, obviously trying to hide his laughter.

Velmoria shot him a glare. "Do not encourage her."

Castiel barely managed to suppress his laughter, his shoulders shaking slightly as he cleared throat. "Apologies," he murmured, though the glimmer of amusement in his blue eyes told her he was not sorry in the slightest.

Young Lady Darvia grinned unbashedly, her pink eyes practically glowing with mischief only a young demon such herself would have. "Oh, but it is fun, is it not? Nicknames make things intimate." Se clasped her hands together, tilting her head together. "Do you not like any of them, Loria?

Velmoria’s eye twitched. She had not come all the way into the garden with them to allow herself to be swept off of her feet by a child. No. "That one is the worst."

Young Lady Darva gasped dramatically, "But it’s cute!"

Velmoria pinched the bridge of her nose, "You are impossible."

She knew she had to leave.

Now. The whole situation was becoming increasingly dangerous.

She took a small step back trying to get some distance between herself and her mates, her heartbeat hammering against her ribs. This was too much and was happening all too fast and she felt everything all too intensely. She had barely begun to process the reality of their bond, let alone acknowledge what it meant for all of them.

But before she could turn and bolt, a warm hand caught her wrist.

"Don’t," Nyx murmured, her fingers firm yet gentle as they curled around Velmoria’s wrist.

Velmoria froze. Her grip was firm, just as Velmoria would expeect from a demon who had been practicing in a martial arts family for all of her life.

The touch sent a jolt through her body— similar to a shockwave, that travelled all the way to her core. It felt like Young Lady Darvia’s demonic power itself was wrapping around her wrist, holding her in place. Not by force, but by something far worse.

Pure unaldurated need.

Velmoria grit her teeth, her body going rigid. "Let me go, Young Lady Darvia." She said with as much authority as she could manage. Not that it was much considering the way the young demon seemed to have no intention of letting her go.

The young demon didn’t flinch at the sharpness in her voice. If anything, she tightened her grip. "No. I have a feeling that if I let you go now, I will not see you again."

Velmoria knew that what the young lady said was right. Velmoria worked very well for the demon king in the shadows. She had been working for him for a little under two hundred years, and only a few noble demons had actually met her. She knew that although she was perfect at what she did, she was still a blemish on the demon king’s record.

The same went for the demon who worked as the demon king’s secretary.

The two of them had worked so hard to stay in the shadows, letting the demon king take all of the recogition for anything they did.

One day, all they did would be recognized without the king having to be shamed for having them as subordinates. Velmoria was patient and firm in that belief.

She yanked her arm in an attempt to run away from the demon, but the noble demon refused to budge.

"You always run, don’t you?" Her voice was quieter now, softer. "You’re scared."

"I am not scared," Velmoria scoffed and rolled her eyes, "Now if you would be so kind as to let go of my hand, I would appreciate it."

Young Lady Darvia arched a brow, obviously unconvinced.

"You are," Castiel agreed from the side, his voice calm but certain. He took a step closer, his presence radiating warmth despite the holy energy that still crackled in the air around him. "And it is understandable. This bond is not supposed to exist. We are not supposed to exist together." His blue eyes darkened. "And yet, it would seem that we do."

Velmoria clenched her jaw. "That does not mean we have to accept it. You all have to be realistic here! It would make sense for the two of you seeing as the king and queen are a precedent, but I am a lesser demon. A succubus, one of the race the lesser demon which is looked down on the most. It just would not work!"

Young Lady Darvia tilted her head, absent mindedly brushing her thumb over the inside of Velmoria’s wrist. That small intimate action caused Velmroia to shiver slightly. Did the young demon even know the effect she had on her? Her scent was making her head dizzy, with lust, and she was all but holding back from pushing her against a tree and pushing up her skirts.

"Tell me," Young Lady Darvia said, her voice laced with curiosity, "if you truly do not want this, if you truly do not feel this bond the way that I do, look me in the eyes and tell me to let you go."

Velmoria swallowed deeply, pressing her teeth tightly against each other, preventing her fangs from peeking out as they had been struggling to this whole time. "If I do say that, will you really let me go? Will you give up on me? Give up on this madness?"

Young Lady Darvia’s grip on her wrist tightened, and she was obviously not comfortable with what Velmoria was asking for. Next to them, Castiel’s holy power surged forward, as if it had a mind of its own. Unless he had lost control of it momentarily.

Velmoria’s throat closed up, more of the words she wanted to say refusing to come. She could already tell that she had hurt Young Lady Darvia with those words. However, she did not want to take it back, she had to not take it back. She had to remain firm.

Young Lady Darvia took her hands back, and her pink eyes looked to the ground. "If that is what you want, then so be it. I refuse to force you into something that you do not want."

Velmoria turned away, her hands clenching into fists beside her.

Velmoria had won.

Then why did it feel so wrong.

She had put enough distance between herself and the bond, had said the words that would sever this before it could truly take root. Young Lady Darvia had released her, and Castiel had not tried to stop her either.

So why did she feel like she had just lost something irreplaceable

Like losing this was something she was going to regret for the rest of her life.

She inhaled sharply, forcing herself to turn on her heel, to move. She had to leave before they saw the hesitation flickering in her eyes, before they saw the way her body still ached to reach out, to pull her hand back into her own, to press against Castiel’s warmth, to—

No.

No, she would not let herself think like that.

Velmoria took another step away—

And then a whisper, barely audible but laced with raw emotion, stopped her in her tracks.

"You’re lying."

Young Lady Darvia’s voice was quiet, but there was no doubt, no hesitation. It was not an accusation; it was a statement of fact.

Velmoria squeezed her eyes shut. "That is none of your concern."
