Chapter 188: Chapter 188: Bachelor Party.
On the fifth day Shen Zhiyi was awakened from her bed to find Qin Xiaoran as the first person she saw.
She clung to her blanket in a daze, somewhat bewildered, "How did you get here?"
"Your wedding is tomorrow," Qin Xiaoran seemed very enthusiastic as she dragged Zhiyi out of bed and pushed her towards the bathroom, "We’re throwing a bachelorette party for you today!"
Shen Zhiyi had already completed the marriage registration with Pei Yu, so in no way was she single, but Qin Xiaoran didn’t care about such details; she just wanted an excuse to get Zhiyi out to have fun.
"What bachelorette party?" As Zhiyi looked in the mirror, she noticed the kiss marks from the previous few days had already faded, not affecting her ability to wear the wedding dress tomorrow, luckily, otherwise she would’ve definitely been mad at Pei Yu. She splashed water on her face and asked curiously, "Does Pei Yu know you came here?"
"I wouldn’t dare tell him," Qin Xiaoran exaggerated a frown, "I’ve kept it a secret from him. After all, tomorrow is your wedding, and I bet he won’t hold it against me, considering the occasion."
Zhiyi couldn’t help but want to laugh; she knew all too well how petty and vengeful Pei Yu could be. Even if he didn’t settle accounts with her these few days, he would get back at her sooner or later. Qin Xiaoran was really only thinking about the present.
With no other options, after she had changed clothes, Zhiyi was still lured away by Qin Xiaoran, but she never expected to be taken to a bar.
"This is no ordinary bar. The people who come here are either rich or noble, and they all look quite good."
Zhiyi nodded, "That doesn’t change the fact that it’s still a bar."
No matter how you put it, it’s just a bar with a high threshold and high standard.
"Hehe," Qin Xiaoran simply stopped trying to sugarcoat it, "Tomorrow you’ll truly be a married woman. Why not take this chance to experience single life a bit more?"
She described vividly, "When you encounter someone hitting on you later, you’ll have to say—sorry, I’m already married. Right now, you can still hide your identity as Mrs. Pei."
The wedding tomorrow was going to be extraordinarily grand. Pei Yu had almost invited everyone from the inner circle with the purpose of making them recognize Zhiyi, so that when they saw her in the future, they would remember her not as an actress but instantly as Pei Yu’s wife, someone off-limits.
If she were to come to a place like this again, no one would consider Zhiyi as single or an object of flirtation.
Zhiyi remained indifferent to her coaxing, having been single for more than twenty years without feeling the need for one last taste, but Qin Xiaoran kept her from leaving and after a while, Wang Feifei and Xiaodong also arrived.
"...You two?" Zhiyi looked at them, both surprised and amused, "Were you coaxed into coming as well?"
Being locals, it didn’t take much effort for them to come. Xiaodong held a plate of fruits, already having eaten most of it, "Miss Qin said she’s treating, so I came."
It’s that simple.
Wang Feifei, always in her cool and mature style, dressed in a tight skirt under her coat, casually said, "Heard there were handsome guys, so I came to check it out."
They were the true singles.
Qin Xiaoran wrapped an arm around Zhiyi’s shoulder, all smiles, "See how considerate I am? I only invited friends you know."
For someone who loves bustling scenes, the fact that she invited only a few people was indeed unusual and considerate. Zhiyi smiled and gave up the thought of leaving.
Before long, the room filled with the beat of fast-paced drums, and several stylish men appeared on the previously empty stage, wearing very little clothing, which instantly reminded Zhiyi of a lingerie show she once saw... and Pei Yu’s reaction.
She sighed lightly, and to prevent any post-event drama, she sent her location to Pei Yu.
The risqué performance clearly was popular, but Zhiyi just calmly ate her fruit while Xiaodong, influenced by Qin Xiaoran, had already run up to the front rows to interact with the performers.
Wang Feifei, with her legs crossed, sipped her drink and turned to ask, "Have you reported to Chairman Pei?"
The question made it seem like Zhiyi had no standing at home. She didn’t answer but instead countered, "Why do you ask?"
"I wonder if I should report this to the boss," Wang Feifei laughed, "Chairman Pei is my boss too."
The boss is the boss.
Just as Shen Zhiyi was about to speak, a waiter suddenly placed a glass of wine on the table in front of her.
He pointed in a direction, "That gentleman invited you to drink."
Shen Zhiyi turned her head to look, a fashionably dressed young man raised his glass to her, then walked over.
"Yo," Wang Feifei watched the commotion from the side, "It’s a younger brother."
She had just finished talking when the young man approached. It was evident that he came from a good family, adorned in luxury items, although he was genuinely young, likely just over twenty.
He smiled warmly and brightly, "I’d like to treat you to a drink, sister. This one is great for girls."
Shen Zhiyi had been approached by many people, but seldom by someone younger than her.
She nodded slightly, "Thanks, but I don’t drink alcohol."
"No worries," the young man sat down beside her nonchalantly, not too close, showing good measure, "Can we just chat for a bit, sister?"
"Sister is really pretty," the young man praised generously, straightforwardly saying, "I like sister’s type."
Shen Zhiyi: "..."
Too direct, she had been hit on many times, but this was the first time encountering someone so straightforward.
She threw a distressed look to the side, where Wang Feifei was having a blast watching the scene, showing no intention of intervening.
Left with no choice, Shen Zhiyi silently picked up her juice and took a sip, the silver ring on her ring finger quite noticeable.
The young man saw it, but he didn’t get the wrong idea, "Sister’s ring is really nice."
"..." Shen Zhiyi suddenly felt she should have worn a diamond ring instead; the silver one was too plain for anyone to associate it with a wedding ring.
"It’s a wedding ring," she had no choice but to clarify directly.
The young man paused, as if it hadn’t occurred to him that she was already married, but he recovered quickly and immediately said, "I don’t mind."
Shen Zhiyi: "...?"
This is too much!
Wang Feifei was already collapsing in laughter on the couch until she looked up and saw someone approaching. Her smile vanished instantly.
Shen Zhiyi sighed, "I’m not interested... um, in that, I’m just here to hang out with friends."
"It’s not too late for sister to consider it now," the young man eagerly pitched himself, "Your husband must be quite old, right? Don’t you want to try being with someone younger? Sister, I’m very well-behaved, I won’t disturb your regular life."
The more she listened, the weirder it got. Shen Zhiyi was beginning to question where all the young man’s luxury goods came from; how come he was so fluent?
Just as she was about to speak, a hand landed on her shoulder. She looked up to see Pei Yu’s expressionless face and immediately fell silent, feeling a headache coming on.
How could it be such a coincidence, particularly at this moment.
