“Finally out…”

Lilith gazed up at the no-longer-blacken sun overhead, allowing the warm sunlight to bask her skin. Her body and mind relaxed completely.

This small world journey—she never wanted to experience anything like it again.

“Oh right, what about the tournament…? Hm? Luna?”

Lilith turned to Luna, who had been teleported out a moment earlier and presumably had a better grasp of the situation outside.

However, Luna was staring blankly into the distance, only snapping back to reality when Lilith called her name again.

“Huh? What?” Luna blinked in confusion.

“I asked, what happened with the Martial God Tournament?”

“Oh…the tournament has been suspended. The organizers announced that the small world used as the tournament venue became unstable. They’re currently investigating the issue and will resume the tournament in a month’s time at another location,” Luna replied.

“I see.”

Lilith nodded.

As the Holy Dragon Empire’s grandest tournament, canceling it outright would be impossible—after all, the empire’s image was at stake.

Then again, at this point, reputation was hardly an issue. With the Demigod Ancestor, Ciel Hesse, out of the dirt, anyone foolish enough to cause trouble now clearly had a death wish.

“By the way, Luna…”

“What is it, Lilith… master?”

“You’ve been acting strange lately,” Lilith noted, tilting her head.

“H-Have I?”

“Yeah, you have.”

The Luna from the past would have stuck to her like glue, but ever since they left the small world, it felt like she had been keeping her distance. She couldn’t even call Lilith “master” naturally anymore.

“Did something happen in the small world?”

“Maybe…it’s just your imagination, Master Lilith. Actually, I was just traveling around this time. I didn’t really help with anything.”

“Is that… so?”

Lilith glanced at her but chose not to press further.

Everyone had the right to keep secrets. Although Lilith had come to loathe secrets lately, she chose to respect Luna.

“Alright then, why don’t you head back to the palace? I’ll take a stroll around town.”

Luna hesitated before asking, “Shall I come with you?”

“Forget it,” Lilith waved her off. “Go back and keep an eye on your family’s ancestor—make sure she doesn’t cause too much chaos. When she’s done with her business here, tell her to head to the ocean and find a girl named Erica. She’s the only one who can handle this.”

“I’ll visit the royal family later,” she added.

Lilith hadn’t forgotten about Raymond, the man who had attacked her. She’d promised to personally visit the royal family, and she had no intention of breaking that promise.

Without another word, she turned and disappeared into the bustling streets, blending into the crowd.

Luna remained where she stood, watching as Lilith vanished from sight. After a long silence, she let out a bitter chuckle.

“As expected, now that I know you’re my ancestor, I can’t treat you like I used to.”

◆◇◆◇◆

Lilith followed the winding streets until she arrived at a small courtyard.

She knocked on the door, but there was no response. Glancing up at the height of the fence, she nimbly leaped over it, landing inside.

Lilith walked across the small courtyard with great familiarity, then pushed open the door to a room.

A pungent stench of medicine filled the air. Frowning, she stepped back and waved her hand, summoning a gentle breeze to carry out the stagnant air. Once the room became more breathable, she finally stepped inside.

Her gaze fell on the frail old man lying in bed.

Elder White. The old man who had willingly lowered his stature to become her senior brother just to teach her the White Jade Style. The same man who had been cursed by outsiders and now lay bedridden, barely clinging to life with the help of tonics and life-extending elixirs—all because of her.

Lilith’s original reason for joining the Martial God Tournament had been to track down the culprit behind his curse and find a way to lift it. Now, she had found the perpetrator. But she still didn’t know how to remove the curse.

Fortunately, she now had another method. Lilith extended a finger toward Elder White’s forehead. With a soft poof, a demonic black flame flickered to life. She took a deep breath, pushed aside all distractions, and carefully guided the black flame into Elder White’s body.

The flame coursed through his body, burning away every trace of the curse bit by bit.

To be honest, this was dangerous as the black flame could devour everything in its path. If she lost control for even a second, Elder White would lose not just a piece of flesh—but an entire limb!

Luckily, the black flame was easier to control than expected.

Almost an hour passed before Lilith finally exhaled in relief. The curse was gone and Elder White was still fully intact. His once sharp, gaunt features remained, but his ashen complexion had faded. He looked much more alive now.

Oh yay, it worked.

Lilith clenched her fist in a small gesture of celebration.

After leaving a few gold coins for Elder White to cover the expenses he needed to fully recover, she turned to leave.

“You’re going to leave just like that?” Diana—Elder White’s disciple—stood leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed as she stared at Lilith.

“Duh,” Lilith replied flatly.

“You won’t even say something to my master… your senior brother?”

“No need.”

Lilith walked toward the door.

“If you leave like this, Master will be heartbroken.”

“I don’t care.”

Diana frowned, staring at the girl in front of her as if she were a stranger. “Lilith, when did you become so cold?”

“I haven’t changed much.”

Lilith didn’t stop walking, her voice carrying over her shoulder as she left only the sight of her petite back.

“Just a word of advice—during this time, it’s best not to get involved with me in any way. Otherwise… It won’t be as simple as a curse.”

“……”

Lilith stepped out the door and the sunlight bathed her face.

“It feels like so long ago.” She turned to look at the tiled wall behind her, finding it strangely foreign. But in truth, it had only been a month since she last left this place. “It’s amazing how much has happened in just a month…”

Lilith smiled.

It was unbelievable.

Since the weather was pleasant, Lilith strolled around—until she ran into someone unexpected.

“Hey, if it isn’t my little sister!”

There was only one person who would call her that. Skarst… the elusive “big brother” she had accepted a month ago. He had forfeited his participation in the second round of the Martial God Tournament and disappeared somewhere.

Lilith had assumed he had already left Jeorgetown City, but now here he was—right in the middle of the street.

“That’s your…?”

Lilith’s gaze landed on the shy little girl standing behind Skarst. She looked around thirteen or fourteen years old, with jet-black hair and striking red eyes. She had a lovely face and was dressed in a purple princess dress.

Despite her timid demeanor, those bright crimson eyes were studying Lilith warily.

“Haha! She’s my daughter, Ereya.” Skarst laughed heartily, patting the girl’s shoulder. “Come on, don’t be shy. You can call this lady umm… Aunt…?” Even Skarst looked uncertain as the word left his mouth.

Standing side by side, Lilith and Ereya looked almost the same age.

Lilith waved dismissively. “She can call me Big Sister.”

“But that’s…”

“She can call me Big sister, while I call you Big Brother, and she calls you Dad. It doesn’t matter.”

“Uh…” Skarst seemed confused, but in the end, he shrugged and said, “Alright, that works.”

He nudged Ereya forward and repeated, “Come on, where are your manners? You can call her Big Sister.”

“Big Sister…” Perhaps because the title felt more natural, Ereya had no trouble saying it.

“Good girl.” Lilith smiled and handed her a candy.

“Thank you, Big Sister!” Ereya’s face lit up as she accepted it eagerly.

That was definitely the reaction of a normal kid.

Lilith shook her head before turning back to Skarst. “You really move fast, Big Brother. I can’t believe you found your daughter so quickly.”

“Of course.” Skarst grinned and flexed his thick biceps. “Tracking down my daughter who had slipped out of the house was a piece of cake.”

“Impressive.” Lilith complimented him sincerely before casually asking, “Then, what about the guy who abducted her? Did you catch him too?”

“Hmm? The guy who abducted my daughter?” Skarst blinked at her and asked, “What are you talking about?”

Lilith gave him a confused look. “You were the one who told me your daughter was abducted! You swore you’d find the culprit and chop him up!” Lilith reminded him.

“When did I say that?” Skarst scratched his head, looking genuinely perplexed. “I don’t remember saying that,” he said.

“Then your daughter…”

“She just slipped out of the house.” Skarst sighed, shaking his head helplessly as he said, “This daughter of mine is perfect in every way—she’s the cutest in the world, but for some reason, she loves sneaking out of the house. I have no idea what’s wrong with her. She has everything she could ever want at home, yet she loves running off.”

“Sneaking out…?” Lilith glanced down at the timid little girl still clinging to Skarst’s coat.

From the way Ereya behaved, she seemed to suffer from severe social anxiety. Lilith found it impossible to imagine her mustering the courage to sneak out alone.

But…

Forget it.

Whether it was an abduction or just a child sneaking out, it was Skarst’s family matter—none of her business.

“Well then, you two should hurry home. This reunion calls for a celebration,” Lilith said with a smile.

“Heh, that’s what I have in mind.” Skarst gave her a pleased look then ruffled Ereya’s hair. “Come on, my good daughter, let’s go home.”

But just as he turned to leave, Ereya tugged at the hem of his coat. She looked up and said, “Daddy, I wanna find Eclipse.”

“Eclipse?”

Lilith froze. That name… sounded familiar.

Skarst gave her an awkward smile. “I have no idea what this kid picked up while she was outside, but ever since I found her, she’s been crying and insisting on finding this ‘Eclipse.’ No matter how much I try to talk her out of it, she won’t stop. She’s even lost interest in her favorite princess dresses!”

“I see…” Lilith crouched down, bringing herself to eye level with Ereya. Her expression softened as she gently rested her forehead against the little girl’s and looked into her eyes. “Tell Big Sister, who is Eclipse?”

Ereya pouted before replying in an uncertain voice, “Eclipse… Eclipse is my best friend…?”

“Then, where’s Eclipse now? Or… what does he look like?”

“Eclipse… He…” Ereya tried her best to recall for a moment before bursting into tears, wailing loudly. “I don’t know… I don’t know where Eclipse is! I don’t know what he looks like! I… I think I’ve forgotten him…!”
