Chapter 621 - 616: Courage II

Chapter 621: Chapter 616: Courage II

On the way to the source of the sound, he encountered two more attacks by snowmen.

But they were insignificant, those bizarre beings couldn’t even stop him for a second.

Within just a few minutes, Lin Xin arrived at a spacious plaza from where the sound emanated.

In the center of the plaza, there was a frozen fountain piled with snow, and on a twisted statue within it hung a young cultivator in a green robe.

"A person from Green Lake Mountain!?" Lin Xin glanced at him, his heart startled.

The cultivator was a young man, his eyes wide open, blood flowing from his nose and mouth, already dried up, seeming unwilling to accept his death.

The body was entirely held up by a hand extended from the statue and had been frozen solid by the harsh winter, unmoving.

Lin Xin approached, and with a flash of his Sword Shadow, the body suddenly fell from the arm, crashing onto the snowy ground.

He then proceeded to carefully inspect it.

Lifting the hem of the corpse’s robe, three white lines were clearly embroidered on it.

"A Third Rank cultivator, Golden Core." he muttered.

Lin Xin squinted his eyes. A Golden Core Stage cultivator could strengthen himself with Pill Qi True Essence; even without using Spell Methods, his physical attributes such as constitution and strength should at least reach a level of fifty points.

The snowmen he encountered earlier had neither the strength nor the speed exceeding thirty points; it was absolutely impossible for them to simply kill a Golden Core cultivator so easily.

It should have been after a surrounded attack, and extensive injuries that the cultivator met his end.

Lin Xin searched the cultivator’s chest and pulled out a small, cone-shaped object, greenish in color, engraved with a red fish sporting a horn on its side.

Upon holding it in his hand, Lin Xin lightly tapped it, and immediately the red jade cone vibrated, emitting an invisible wave that drifted far away.

"Yuan Yuansheng! Are you still alive!?" he shouted.

Soon a breathless voice transmitted from within the cone.

"I am the lord nearby, the Third True Transmission of Qing Shan boundary, have your team leader speak to me." Lin Xin quickly declared his identity.

There was silence on the other side, followed by a hissing static, and soon Feng Huai’s voice came through.

"Is that you, Brother Lin!?" He sounded exhausted. "I didn’t expect you to come. I’m afraid I need your help here."

"Where are you?" asked Lin Xin, his brows furrowing.

"To the northeast of your position, about two miles away."

Grabbing the body, Lin Xin’s form swiftly accelerated, drifting like smoke toward the northeast.

Before long, a chaotic battlefield slowly emerged ahead of him.

In the street between two large buildings.

A large number of snowmen were entangled with the cultivators in green robes, hacking at each other, with snow being chopped everywhere and blood from the cultivators occasionally splattering into the air and freezing into ice flowers as they fell to the ground.

On the narrow street, Feng Huai was struggling with a huge snowman about four meters tall, with a multitude of arms.

He swung his blade, each stroke leaving deep cuts on the snowman’s body.

Even capable of severing its arms.

But it was to no avail; the giant snowman regenerated its injured areas within seconds. And the severed limbs quickly grew into somewhat smaller snowmen that leaped at others.

Lin Xin glanced at the ground, where seven or eight people already lay uncertain in life and death.

The remaining five or six were also barely holding on.

These snowmen simply couldn’t be killed; cutting off their limbs would only cause more to grow.

"One Fifth Rank, the rest either Fourth Rank or Third Rank, where are the other Fifth Rank lords?" Lin Xin wondered, but still he put down the body and made his way quickly towards Feng Huai.

"Brother Feng, I’m here to help you!" he shouted loudly.

Feng Huai, seeing him approach, showed a relieved expression.

Being not a Pureblood Fifth Rank, he was restricted in this area in using his Spell Methods. He could only rely on his painstakingly practiced sword skills and the robust physique of a Fifth Rank Human Immortal.

But even then, he had only managed a standoff for less than ten minutes before falling into dire straits.

"Brother Lin, save the others fast! These are the guards of the Fifth Rank Snowman King! They can’t be killed; we must retreat first!"

Lin Xin struck twice with his sword, scattering several approaching snowmen at once.

Himself, he leapt up easily, slicing past the multi-armed snowman.

Polar Region opened and closed momentarily.

After the sound of his blade, the multi-armed snowman suddenly collapsed vehemently, all its numerous arms breaking off simultaneously and thunderously hitting the ground.

Feng Huai seized the chance to escape.

Taking advantage of the snowman’s recovery time, Lin Xin struck fiercely with his sword frontally, slashing powerfully across its waist.

An explosive force immediately transferred from the snowman’s waist, the strong recoiling force nearly causing him to lose grasp of his sword.

"Truly a Fifth Rank! And not a low-level one!"

With a chill in his heart, Lin Xin quickly, along with the extremely exhausted Feng Huai, covered the other team members and retreated swiftly.

***********************

Blood slowly streamed down Song Danhao’s forehead.

He struggled to keep his eyes open, gasping for air as he stared at the towering snowman in front of him.

In his hand, a black fog coalesced into a Black Blade, which was deeply stabbed into the snowman’s heart.

Beside him, Lin Yaoyang, Xu Ling, and Gongshang Baiyu were all heavily wounded, their clothes torn and looking utterly bedraggled.

Hiss!

He pulled out the Black Blade.

Finally, this endlessly regenerating snowman thunderously fell to the ground.

On the tip of the Black Blade, a large, black, semi-transparent crystal was clearly embedded.

"Is this the Tear of the Snowman King?"

Song Danhao’s mind flickered with a term.

The four of them had exhausted all their efforts, using various Secret Techniques incessantly, prolonging the combat for well over an hour.

It was only with great difficulty that they managed to kill this more than two-meter-tall snowman, and if it weren’t for Lin Yaoyang’s final full-force entanglement and delay, he might not have been able to find the core crystal continuously moving inside the snowman’s body.

"This must be the legendary crystal that can enhance soul power, the ’Tears of the Snowman King’!"

Song Danhao removed the crystal, sighing deeply as he spoke.

"Soul power? Can this really enhance it directly?" Lin Yaoyang asked in astonishment.

"Of course, if there is...." Song Danhao was cut off mid-sentence by another voice.

"If there is a pure kind of obsession that condenses and guides the soul force, it will form a special treasure that can enhance soul power."

A gentle and calm male voice carried over from a distance.

"Who!?"

The four of them were suddenly startled and looked in the direction of the voice.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh!

Suddenly, amid a dozen sounds of air being split, an elegant male with four ears lightly leaped down from the side of the building.

Accompanying him were several monks in platinum-colored robes and masks.

"Four Seas Fairy Mountains!"

Song Danhao’s pupils abruptly constricted; he recognized the attire.

Four Seas Fairy Mountains, one of the super sects even known in the Qiushi Region, was the second dominant force in the entire Mortal Realm.

Compared to Shen Luo Mansion where he had once stayed, it was like the difference between an ant and an elephant.

Trouble was coming!

All four of them felt a sinking sensation in their hearts.

The four-eared man gave a slight smile, his gaze fixated on the black crystal in Song Danhao’s hand.

"If this Daoist is willing to hand over the ’Tears of the Snowman King’ to me, as the leading brother of the Four Seas Fairy Mountains team, I will certainly offer you all a generous reward upon returning."

His accompanying monks subtly began to encircle the four, implying a threat.

Song Danhao took a deep breath, about to speak.

Shi!

Suddenly, a burst of white light flashed by his side.

Bang!

The four-eared man abruptly intervened, blocking his right cheek where a cluster of white light exploded into existence.

"What do you take yourself for!? We worked hard to obtain this, and you think you can just take it away with a word? Does the world work that cheaply?"

Lin Yaoyang could not help but sneer coldly.

The four-eared man did not get angry; instead, squeezing the speck of white light between his fingers, a slightly surprised look appeared on his face.

"Chanting Star Clan’s Purifying Force?!"

He lifted his head, his gaze immediately fixated on Lin Yaoyang. Observing the other’s beautiful face and graceful figure.

And the Pure Blood Power used just now.

"I’ve long heard that the Chanting Star Purifying Force is overwhelmingly powerful. Today, I indeed want to see just how powerful it is."

He suddenly burst out laughing, his eyes flickering with eagerness and a hint of murderous intent.

**********************

After running several miles, the group finally left the city center and the pursuit of the snowmen gradually ceased behind them.

All the monks from Green Lake Mountain then collapsed on the ground, gasping for air.

"We owe you big for coming!" Feng Huai sat down on the ground with a wry smile.

"The energy storm tore apart all the divine senses of the powerful that were watching us, turning this place into a complete island. Then, during our move through the city, we suddenly encountered these undying snowmen guards. If not for Brother Lin’s arrival, we might have been completely wiped out."

"There’s no need for formality among sect brothers. What exactly is this place?" Lin Xin waved his hand, having just encountered a multi-armed snowman, noting the creature was much stronger than any Void Demon General he had previously slain.

With his over eight thousand attributes, even his sword felt shaken when he struck, and the creature possessed an undying body.

He distinctly saw the severed arm he had cut off transforming quickly into new snowmen on the ground.

Let alone Feng Huai, even he himself might not be able to do anything against it.

"This is Snowman King’s City, an extremely mysterious and unfamiliar race’s royal city from the distant Void Outer Regions," Feng Huai sighed.

"I had only read about it in records before, never thought I’d actually encounter it this time."

"Snowman King’s City... What exactly is the sect’s mission?" Lin Xin asked with a frown.

"To find the courage of the Snowman King and bring it back," Feng Huai responded immediately. "It’s a task worth five thousand contribution points. No wonder the reward is so substantial; it’s not easy to obtain indeed."

"The Snowman King’s courage? What do we do now?" Lin Xin also asked with a frown.

"We need support. This place is crawling with royal snowmen, these creatures are at least of the Fifth Rank, and they have undying bodies that multiply the more we fight, already beyond what we can handle," another monk interjected.

"Junior Brother Hong is right; we have already done our best, and now, the situation has surpassed our capabilities," Feng Huai said helplessly. "Moreover, I suspect the attack on us might also involve the hidden hand of the other two teams."

"Are you referring to Four Seas Fairy Mountains and Illusory Sea Polar Regions?" another monk couldn’t help but ask.

"Correct," Feng Huai nodded.

"How dare they!?"

A monk stood up angrily.

"It must be that four-eared freak!" Feng Huai speculated, his face also showing a hint of coldness. "I will certainly report this to Mentor Shengming when I return. Four Seas Fairy Mountains, Illusory Sea Polar Regions, it seems they have forgotten who the real ruler of this Mortal Realm is!"

"Do you have any proof?" Lin Xin suddenly asked.

At this, not only did Feng Huai laugh, but the surrounding monks who heard it also chuckled.

"We, the people of Green Lake Mountain, ask for justice; do we need proof?"

"No one dares to withhold an explanation from us! Four Seas Fairy Mountains, heh!"

"I said earlier that the four-eared guy was polite, but he was harboring ill intentions all along."

Everyone in the group seemed to completely disregard the two major sects.

Lin Xin’s heart chilled; this was his first time witnessing the arrogant and domineering side of the Green Lake Mountain disciples.

"What if they deny it? What if they resist directly?" he asked again.

"Even better, we, the monks of Green Lake Mountain, always have the advantage of acting first and reporting later," Feng Huai suddenly sneered.
