Chapter 72: A Tradition For Her

Chapter 72: A Tradition For Her

The car ride back was silent. Viviana didn’t know what happened, but Leander came back with a pleased smile on his face. He didn’t let go of her hand the whole ride.

"The birthmark...?" he asked pointing at her chest.

He didn’t remember seeing it and at that time when he was on top of her, he didn’t even remember about that birthmark. But when Evander was so sure that she was not the same woman, the first thing he thought about was her birthmark.

"Concealer," she said with a smirk.

Before she left Leander’s room, she went to the bathroom, and she had a feeling that she should cover up the birthmark. So, she did.

For Leander to ask about it, how did he know she had a birthmark there in the first place? It’s not very easily visible unless...

She wanted to get mad at him but then, what was the use of covering her head when she is soaking wet already? They have already done the deed!

But this guy... why did he take a peek at me? Does he really hate me?

She didn’t want to be so full of herself. She knew she is not that much of a beauty to make a man fall for her at just a glance.

Maybe he checked her features to make sure he gets the right woman to switch.

But still... what else did he do when I was unconscious?

She tried to hug herself, but she couldn’t get her hand. She was held tightly by him. She looked at his hand that was covering her hand. Her hand looked tiny inside his hands. His hand was very warm. And big.

The old wives’ tale about the size of the hand being proportional to the size of a man’s manhood might be true after all.

She didn’t know why he was holding her hand so tightly. He didn’t like to touch her hand when he passed her the pen, but he held her hand when he handed her his brooch.

"Ah! Your brooch!" she shouted as she remembered it. "I... the maids had them all and..." she looked behind unconsciously.

She was wearing another set of clothes of unknown origin. She didn’t know what happened to the dress and the brooch she was wearing to the dinner. They must be much more valuable than the clothes she is currently wearing.

"Should we go back?" he asked with a smirk.

He was glad to see liveliness returning to her eyes the farther they are from Rose Gardens. As much as he loved his grandfather, he doesn’t like to stay in Rose Garden either. He was glad she feels the same too.

"No," Viviana shook her head and scooted to the side.

If possible, she would like to never step foot inside that place ever again. Who cares what happens to his jewelry?

Leander laughed.

She is cute.

Viviana only remembered getting back to the Orchid Gardens. She plopped on her side of the bed and within a minute, she fell asleep. She didn’t even know when Leander came to bed.

When she woke up, it was bright outside. She turned to check if Leander was there. But he was not. She didn’t know why that made her feel empty.

She checked the time, and it was eight in the morning. She didn’t think she would wake up this early.

Early?

She mocked herself. Not so long ago, she would be at work at this time. She’s getting a lot lazier these days. Stretching herself, she walked to the bathroom to freshen up. After a shower when she got to the room, she was almost startled to see Katerina waiting for her by the door.

"Good morning," Viviana smiled seeing the megawatt smile on Katerina’s face.

"Did you sleep well, dear?" Katerina held her hand. "You must be very tired after..." she chucked, and her entire face went red.

It took her some time for Viviana to realize why Katerina’s attitude has changed with her.

Viviana scratched the back of her head with an awkward smile and not knowing where to look, she looked at the breakfast table.

"Are you looking for Leander?" Katerina laughed. "He’s already left to meet the don. But..." she quickly walked to the table. "He left-uh-he cooked breakfast for you. Ta-da!!" Katerina pointed at the breakfast table.

Cooked breakfast?

Viviana walked to the table. "PB&J?" she raised her eyebrows. Even the bread looked mangled and pathetic. She couldn’t help but laugh.

"It’s the thought that counts, right?" Katerina patted Viviana’s arm with a cheerful smile. She looked very proud of Leander. "I offered to help him, but he insisted that he should be the one preparing your breakfast. Uh- and he wanted me to tell you that it is one of the Kastello family traditions for the husband to cook breakfast for the wife on their first day of marriage," she added.

"Tradition?" Viviana raised her brows. She didn’t think that the Kastello men would have been very appreciative of this practice for it to turn into a tradition.

It doesn’t benefit them. So why would they create such a tradition?

"Tradition of Leander Kastello?" she asked with a knowing smile.

"Yes, Leander insisted to let you know that it’s a tradition," Katerina looked at her with meaningful eyes.

Viviana nodded. So, Leander wanted her to know that all of the traditions of his family are not bad. And so, he created a tradition out of nowhere.

It’s kind of sweet in a way.

She pressed her lips to keep her from laughing at the pathetic breakfast Leander "cooked" for her. Even the bread was not toasted. There wasn’t even an egg.

But there were sliced bananas.

"Tell him that I greatly appreciated this tradition," Viviana smiled and took a seat.

"You can tell your husband yourself," Katerina said.

Viviana’s heart skipped a beat for some odd reason hearing that.

Husband!

Viviana nodded. Her lips curved up seeing the breakfast.

She does not like such a plain breakfast in the morning as it reminded her of her orphan days. But today, she only saw that as something that was made with "whatever" feelings by a guy who probably never stepped a single foot inside the kitchen of his house.

And it’s been a while since someone made her breakfast. Her mother used to force her to eat breakfast when she lived with her parents.

It’s been years...

"Umm.... did he...eat?" Viviana asked with much hesitation.

Katerina nodded with a smile. "He did. Look at you... so caring..." she patted her head and took a step back.

Viviana bowed her head not knowing what to do.

"Can I have orange juice or coffee to..." Viviana asked with slight hesitation.

"Yes, sure... Ah, I should have added it, but I wanted you to see what Leander actually prepared for you," Katerina added.

Viviana nodded.

She appreciated what Leander did, but she cannot swallow this dry food with plain water.

Katerina smiled from the heart seeing Viviana eating the food. It was obvious that she was not very impressed by the plate. But she tried not to show it on her face and finished the plate.

That might be the bare minimum attitude for a polite person, but she didn’t think she would be polite. After interacting with her for the first few days, she thought that she was someone with attitude. She even wondered if she is playing Leander.

But now she could see that this woman might not be bad for Leander. No wonder Leander looked so happy in the morning. He should know in his heart that she is the right woman for him.

Leander stood by the door of his grandfather’s office. He took in a deep breath before knocking on the door.
