Chapter 388: Beautiful In White
Chapter 388: Beautiful In White
Leon stood at the altar with his eyes peeled open for any news of what was going on. He still had no idea what was going on outside except that it was Helena causing trouble. He looked for Steve in the crowd but not seeing him there gave him relief.
He must be already on it.
Lionel asked him if he needed to do anything. Leon shook his head. He trusted Steve. Ziya leaned on his shoulder and his lips curved up unknowingly.
They saw Vito and Leonardo getting inside. Steve followed behind and Leon stood facing the front.
So, it has been settled.
Everything around him went blank and his mind was occupied with thoughts about her.
Can’t wait for my Jophiel...
-----
Leonardo rushed inside the bride’s room.
"Finally!" Viviana hooked her arms with his. "You are two minutes late! Come on, Let’s go!"
Gabriella and Lionel had walked earlier and she had been waiting for her escort for this long. She shouldn’t be waiting this long to get to her man. She truly was in a hurry. She couldn’t wait to get to him.
Only then she notice that Leonardo’s tie was crooked. Viviana fixed it. The cameraman clicked a picture of the beautiful moment.
"Where have you been?" she furrowed her brows.
"If only you knew," Leonardo smirked. He didn’t want to tell her what happened out there. She looked pretty and happy. He wouldn’t even dream of ruining her mood.
"Take care of her dress," Leonardo told Angelina.
Angelina didn’t want to argue with him and walked to the back. Leonardo noticed that she was not very happy.
"Will you be worse than my sister on our wedding day?" he asked. "Please, spare some pity for me..."
Angelina looked at Leonardo. There was a blush on her face as she smiled.
Viviana looked at Leonardo. He hadn’t given the ring to her yet but she was glad he was thinking of their wedding.
"You are pretty," Leonardo turned and told Viviana.
"Thanks..." Viviana blushed. She didn’t expect he’d say something nice about her.
"Shall we?" he smiled and Viviana hooked her arms in his.
The bridal march was played and Viviana walked. She didn’t want to have her head bowed but her heart was pounding too much. She willed herself to look up.
The magnificent Church was decorated with white and yellow flowers. There were gold metallic accents everywhere. All the pews were filled. It was better than what she arranged.
Maybe she was nervous, she found it hard to walk in her dress even though she had practiced it before. But she didn’t want to give up. She took in a deep breath. Her eyes ended up at the front. She didn’t want to miss him.
There he is...
Through the veil, she saw him smiling at her. She saw a slight glimmer in his eyes. She didn’t know if it was tears. But holding Ziya, he looked perfect. Handsome.
Her man. Her Leo.
Leonardo stepped aside for their father.
Vito kissed her cheek. "You are beautiful, darling daughter," he said.
Viviana smiled looking at him. "You too, dad, are dapper!"
They reached the end of the aisle. Leonardo got Ziya from Leon’s hand. Vito handed her hand to Leon. Viviana expected her father to threaten him but Vito stood there with his eyes misty.
"Take good care of my daughter," he said, with his voice shaking.
It was a request. The great Vito Vitale was putting out a request for his son-in-law. Viviana was touched.
"I will, with every ounce of my being," Leon answered.
Viviana smiled.
I know he will.
Leon removed the veil from her face. "My angel, you are perfect," he said.
"You too, my sweet Lion," she smiled.
The ceremony was over within a jiffy. Viviana looked around to see the familiar faces around her. Some of the nuns who had watched her grow up were there. She was grateful to see the happiness on their face.
She was more grateful for Leon to have the wedding in the Church. It’s perfect.
By the end of the wedding ceremony, at the recessional, she was feeling a little giddy out of happiness. She saw the ring glittering in her hand. Now she had two rings—an engagement ring and a wedding band.
Perfect!
The reception was arranged on the beach. They had made a big set for the reception. Viviana had another dress for the reception and she changed to it. Not wanting to make the guests wait, she got ready quickly. Maybe because she didn’t eat much, she was feeling heartburn.
While she was drinking juice, Leon came inside his room.
"How do I look, husband?" she asked and swirled around.
"100/ 10!" Leon winked. He wanted nothing more than to see her happy. To see her happily twirling made his heart skip a beat.
On the way to the venue, Leon held her hand. "I am so happy, Melanie..." he smiled.
"I too am happy," she leaned on his shoulder. "I don’t think anything else would beat this happiness I am feeling right now."
Leon chuckled not knowing that she was too wrong.
"Can’t wait for our first dance," Leon said.
"I am a bit nervous," she said.
They practiced for their dance for just a week. She didn’t think she was a good dancer when compared to him.
"It’s nothing. Just follow my lead," he said.
"I know," she looked at him.
"I am holding back from kissing you hard because I do not want to make you mad for ruining your makeup," he said holding her cheek.
"Was I acting a bit too much?" she asked. She was ashamed of her behavior. But what’s past is past.
"A bit?" he raised his brows sarcastically.
"Sorry," she pouted.
Leon shook his head. He had seen her at his worst. He will never blame her for being animated. It’s beautiful to see her animated.
"Trust me with the first dance, all right?" he said as they were about to alight.
"Leo! Is there something I want to know?" she asked. The way he said it didn’t give her much confidence.
He smiled and gave his hand to her. "Trust me. It will be fine."
Amidst the cheers of the guests, Viviana held his hand and alighted from the car.
The reception ceremony started. After the toast, it was time for the first dance. Only after the music started, did Viviana understand why he asked for her trust.
He changed the song!
Viviana took in a deep breath. It matters not whether she danced like she practiced or not. What matters is that she enjoys this moment with the man she loved. It is fine if she looks like a fool in front of others. She wanted to enjoy that moment with him.
This is the moment! If she loses it, she will regret it.
She held his shoulders as he placed his hand on her waist. The song "Beautiful in White" played in the speakers.
"You were wearing white on the rooftop," he whispered in her ear. "And also when I first saw you..."
"But I was wearing pink," she said.
"I saw you first on your confirmation. My mother and I were sitting on the fourth row and my mother mentioned you because you were the littlest among them all. You also sang a hymn that day—solo..."
Viviana’s eyes watered. She did sing a solo hymn that day. She didn’t think he was there and she was astonished to hear that he remembered that.
"You were wearing a little veil that day too..." Leon smiled.
Viviana leaned and kissed him. They weren’t even dancing anymore; just bobbing. But she didn’t care. She couldn’t believe he kept this from her till then.
But this is perfect!
"I love you, Leo," she hugged him not minding that she was smearing her makeup on his jacket. She couldn’t stay away from him.
Also, she was feeling giddy and felt like the whole world was spinning around her. She was too happy.
Gabriella and Lionel were dancing to their side and so were Leonardo and Angelina. Martha and Nelson were enjoying too. This was the first time she saw Steve dancing with his wife.
Everyone was happy. She was too.
