Chapter 387: Deluded Mother

At that time, Leon noticed something as the music changed.

The little angel walked with a little basket in her hand. She had one simple thing to do. To throw the petals along the aisle as she walked to the end. But she was too stunned seeing the large crowd who turned their attention toward her. Her beautiful lips curved out of nervousness.

Leonardo saw the smile on Leon’s face and turned. He forgot about the hassle they were facing and his face lit up with a smile. His girlfriend walking behind Ziya was another reason for his smile. She looked awesome.

Ziya stood stunned for a few seconds. Her little hand reached for her head and she pulled out the flower crown. She didn’t like it much anyway. Finally, her eyes ended up to the front.

"Ah-do!"

She recognized her dearest uncle. She threw the basket down and the flower petals all fell down on the red carpet. With her little feet, she ran toward her uncle with a bright smile.

Leonardo chuckled and picked her up. The guests erupted into laughter seeing the little girl rushing as fast as her little legs could take her.

Seeing her father, she made the jump to him. "Daddy," she hugged him. "Mommy..." she pointed at the door.

She tried to get down to run to her mother. She was not sure what was going on but she wanted to have her mother and father together.

----

While this cute moment was going on in the Church, Vito Vitale missed it. He saw that vengeful woman standing on the roof of the orphanage that previously was a resort. She was not standing alone. She had her two daughters with her.

She was shouting something and he was glad he couldn’t see it. He’s seen evil; he is evil. He could see that the woman on the roof was filled with maliciousness.

"Find out what she wants," he told Ignazio.

The distance was enough to see her face but the wind made it tough to hear her. He squinted his eyes. She was waving her hand as if she was asking for someone. He got angry that she wanted to ruin the day for his daughter.

He cannot allow that!

-----

"What happened to Leonardo? Where is dad? Is everyone alright?" Viviana asked Angelina.

"Everyone’s fine..." Angelina let out a deep breath and patted her chest. "I’m not talking about... Leonardo decided to walk you down the aisle-uh- halfway through the aisle, if it makes sense..." Angelina said.

Viviana blinked. "Is dad not okay? Does he find it hard to walk?" she asked, concerned. Her father was too excited the past few days and she wondered if he had strained himself too much.

"No. Not that. Dad is fine. It’s just Leonardo being silly." Angelina said. She was mad at Leonardo. Just because he couldn’t be the best man, he wanted to play a big part in the bridal precession. And he wants her involved with it.

"Dad agreed?" Viviana asked.

Angelina nodded. Viviana smiled. Honestly, she wasn’t affected by that news. She was glad she had two people to walk her down the aisle.

Helena smirked seeing Ignazio running at her. "It’s fine. I’ll get what I want..." She held the arms of her daughters and pushed them forward.

"Mom, please, no..." the younger daughter begged. "I’m scared, mom. I’m..."

She clung to her mother’s arm.

"Don’t be scared..." Helena said softly to calm down her daughter. She saw Vito taking a step forward. She smirked knowing that Vito must have some emotional attachment toward her daughters. She knew how her other daughter was getting pampered in the Vitale household. She wanted the same for her other daughters too.

But for her, she wanted more.

"Mom, no... Please... I’m scared, I’m scared..." she started to cry.

Helena gritted her teeth. "Help me out a bit. Do you want to have a wealthy life or not? Your father is dead and it’s their fault. We have to get back at them!"

The younger one got scared looking at the scary face of her mother. With her shoulders hunched, she clutched her sister’s skirt. The eldest had frozen out of fear. The wind was strong on the roof and she found it hard to breathe. Amidst the pounding of her heart and the sound of wind, she heard her mother.

It’s all their fault! It’s all their fault our mother turned crazy! It’s their fault!

With her chin up, she took a step forward. She hated them. She couldn’t see her mother in pain. She will do anything for her mother.

"What do you want?" Ignazio shouted from the ground.

Helena looked down. Because of the situation there, a crowd had gathered already. She laughed. This is what she wanted.

"The wedding’s not the talk of the town anymore, huh? What is she going to do about it?" Helena shouted.

The youngest daughter stumbled in the wind. Helena was focused on Ignazio. If the elder daughter didn’t grab her sister, she would have fallen to her death.

"I want him!" Helena shouted. "I want to talk to him!"

"Him? Who?" Ignazio asked. He was irked by that woman.

"Leander Kastello!" Helena shouted.

She couldn’t believe that he was alive. When her husband told her that he was back from the grave, she was astonished. She was angry. She was reveling in glee till then knowing that her sister lost her husband and showed her true colors by moving on too quickly. Even though nothing had anything to do with her, she felt like she won—something.

She didn’t want that woman to have that happiness. That was the reason she sent her husband to kill that woman. She needed to tell the truth about their daughter to rile up her husband.

That woman cannot be happy!

She escaped by killing her husband. Shouldn’t she pay for that? She will take Leander for her husband!

Leander is a kind soul. He wouldn’t stay calm if he knew that her life was in danger. He will come for her and she will take him. If he didn’t, then...

She touched her waist. The gun she hid was there. It was her husband’s gun and she had enough bullets to take Leander with her.

Ignazio laughed and Helena pulled out her gun. The crowd gasped. Some of them had called the emergency services and firetrucks and cops were arriving at the distance. Some were holding blankets under them to hold them in case they fell down.

In all the commotion, Helena could hear the silence in the Church. The bridal march would be next. She wanted to see Leander once more. He should belong to her just like it was mandated.

Vito was still looking at her. It gave her an idea.

She pulled her eldest daughter and pressed the gun to her head.

"Mommy!"

The younger one started to cry.

"Don’t worry. It’s just a game," Helena whispered. "Mommy’s not going to hurt you."

But the youngest was not assured. She started sobbing. "Mommy, no! Mommy... let us go..."

The eldest closed her eyes. She trusted her mother. If this would make her mother happy, she would do this with her whole heart. She loved her mother.

"It’s fine, Ciara. I’m fine..." Magdalene assured her little sister.

Little Ciara couldn’t fathom what was happening around her. She looked tired; her eyes closed, and her tiny body swayed in the wind.

"Ciara!" Magdalene who was having an eye in her little sister reached out to her.

Helena didn’t notice her younger daughter falling from the roof. She heard the crowd shouting though. She thought they were all screaming at her not to shoot her daughter.

She gripped the gun tighter.

She thought it was perfect. The bigger the commotion, the sooner Leander comes out, and the greater that woman’s day gets ruined.

How could she have a wedding day with Leander? It is hers alone! She had to marry Nicholai because of her mother. Her mother’s dead and her husband is also dead at the right time. How can she not take it as the Heaven’s mandate?

Leander is hers!

*Bang*

The sound of gunshot rang followed by the shouts and gasps of the onlookers.
