Chapter 384: About The Baby
Chapter 384: About The Baby
"Go inside," Leon told Viviana.
Viviana nodded. Sparing a glance at their guest who now had a confused expression, Viviana walked in.
"Nicholai Palatini! To what do I owe this pleasure?" Leon walked to Nicholai with a smirk. Nelson informed him that Palatini was here to talk about his child. He wanted to hear what he wanted to say.
Did Helena tell him the truth?
"You..."
She opened the drawer under the television and passed the gun to Leon’s hand. She didn’t remember feeling the gun on him earlier when she was with him on the beach.
Nicholai Palatini stared at her. "Where is my baby?" he asked.
Viviana’s heart skipped a beat.
He’s here for Ziya?
"Go inside," Leon repeated.
With a nod, Viviana walked in. She was planning on cooking for him and she didn’t want to compromise on that. He knew what her feelings were towards Ziya and she believed he would make a good decision. She took a shower and went straight to the kitchen.
I am engaged!
She was so happy that she wanted to share the news. She took a picture of her ring and sent it to the group chat. Within a few seconds, the chat lit up with wishes and awe.
After telling everyone she cared about, she proceeded to prepare dinner.
---
"So, you didn’t die..." Nicholai scoffed.
Although he had lost the swag he had when he was wealthy, looking at his mortal enemy brought back the sneer to his face.
"What are you talking about?" Leon asked. Leander Kastello died. He’s not Leander Kastello. That’s how it was.
"Come on!" Nicholai stood up.
Leon leaned forward with the gun in his hand. He was thankful for his wife’s thoughtfulness. Never did he imagine that she would one day give a gun to his hand. But she did. She knew he needed it.
Again, she never fails to surprise him.
Seeing the gun in his hand, Nicholai leaned back. The sneer on his face went away. "How are you planning on making everyone believe you are a different person?" he asked. "I am genuinely curious."
Leon tapped the muzzle of the gun on his hand and with a tilted head, stared at Palatini.
"What? I am not scared of you," Palatini scoffed. And yet he couldn’t hide the paleness spreading on his face. If he is the Lion, then he will pull the trigger with no hesitation.
"Why did you want to meet me?" Leon asked.
"My wife told me today that your wife has our... My wife," Nicholai scoffed. "Isn’t she your lover? I had to take your leftovers!"
Leon rubbed his forehead. How long will he hold this bitterness in his heart? He sure has moved on! What a pathetic excuse of a man!
"Ziya is our daughter. I don’t know why your wife lied to you," Leon said.
Palatini stared at Leon for some time. "What is your name?" he asked. "You are living a good life. Was it all your wife’s money or..." With a smirk, he looked around. "Can I have dinner in your house tonight? Or give me a tour, Leon Michaels..."
Leon stood up. "You can leave, Mr. Palatini. I have nothing to say to you."
"Stop!" Nicholai walked to Leon. "It was you, wasn’t it? It was..." Nicholai almost grabbed Leon’s collar. "You stole the Arment gold!"
Leon clenched the gun in his hand. "Leave."
"Or else, what?" Palatini shouted. "You bankrupted me! You threw me to the streets and now even my wife and daughters don’t respect me!" he lunged forward with a fisted hand ready to hit Leon. "Give my money back!"
Leon blocked his punch and placed the tip of the muzzle on Nicholai’s forehead. "You’re insane!" He scoffed. "I can see why no one respects you!"
Palatini was frozen. "Leave!" Leon ordered.
His men surrounded them and Palatini had to leave. Leon advised his men not to let him in again and to watch out for that man. He went inside.
Palatini cared more about the money he lost than about the baby. Leon took a peek into the kitchen and seeing his wife preparing dinner, his lips curved up. On his way upstairs, he called Vito Vitale to warn about Palatini. He didn’t want to lose Ziya to him.
After taking a bath, Leon came to the dining room. Viviana was setting the table.
"Did he figure you out?" she asked.
Leon shrugged. Should that even be a question? People there would surely recognize him. And by now Palatini would be spreading the news to anyone and everyone who listens. Too mad that he doesn’t have many enemies left.
Viviana served him dinner and she only started eating seeing him enjoying the meal. "You are getting better and better, Melanie," he said from his heart.
After dinner, both of them sat in the living room watching some TV.
"Be careful. He will return," Leon said.
Viviana curled up on his lap. "You’re here. I am not going to worry."
She really had no worries. She knew her husband had the means to stop anyone who might try to hurt their family. Why should she worry?
Leon carried her to bed and that night even the moon hid away behind the clouds as the couple expressed their love on the bed.
Early in the morning, Leon left to bring back Ziya. Viviana was pleased with his decision.
Days passed without any incident. Viviana was busy preparing for the wedding. She arranged party planners and even then she still had a lot to do. Gabriella and Angelina supported her and that lightened her load.
They fixed the date after consulting the church and the preparations all went forward at full speed. Vito was excited about the wedding. Out of happiness, he said he felt like a middle-aged man. Leonardo offered his help too and took care of the arrangements for the afterparty. He knew what everyone would like and Viviana was thankful he took care of it.
Only Leon didn’t do much for he wedding, or at least, he pretended he didn’t care. Sitting in front of his laptop, he was always busy. Viviana tried to figure out what eh was doing but failed. She stopped caring after that.
With just a month to the wedding, Viviana went to the grocery store with Ziya. It was the usual shop she frequented but she could see a couple of suspicious individuals in the shop. She was not sure, but she informed Leon through text.
It was prudent to be alert.
She quickly got what she needed and went to the billing counter. The suspicious men who were at the end of the shop walked to the cashier. Viviana held Ziya closer to her chest and tried to leave.
Her instinct told her that something was wrong. Either it could be a robbery or something more personal.
Just as she opened the door, a couple of guys standing by the door pushed her in. Viviana almost fell down by the force they pushed her. She looked for their men but she couldn’t see them anywhere.
This is bad...
The four men surrounded her. Viviana’s heart pounded and she held the baby closer to her chest.
"You can walk away freely," one goon who was chewing gum said. "Just give the baby to us and we won’t hurt you."
Viviana took a step back.
So, this is about Ziya.
