Chapter 385: Love You No Matter What

"Don’t make us ask twice, lady!"

One of the men said taking out something from his jacket pocket. Viviana noticed that it was a blade. She saw Nelson and a couple other men rushing to the door. It looked like they were distracted by something before she got ambushed.

Since she was surrounded by those men, they didn’t have a clear shot. If any of the bullets missed, it would hit her or the baby. Her men wouldn’t take that risk.

It looked like a well-planned attempt. Although Palatini lost his money, he still had some loyal men left who would do his bidding.

The store clerk tried to approach the men and Viviana shook her head at the kid. He looked like he was still in school. She didn’t want him to get hurt trying to protect her.

It was just a small shop and since this was the afternoon, there weren’t any other customers. Viviana knew she was trapped. She hugged Ziya closer to her chest. Although Ziya was young, she was old enough to understand the tense situation. She was scared.

"Call the cops," she told him.

"Move, and she dies!"

The man told the clerk. The kid didn’t know what to do and stood frozen.

"It’s okay, Baby," Viviana cooed the baby. "Daddy is coming. Daddy will protect us."

The men laughed. "No one’s coming to save you, lady."

Viviana smirked. What do they know about her man? She was not scared. She knew her Leo would come and save her.

"Are you laughing at us?" The man got angry seeing her unmoved expression and raised his arm to hit her.

Viviana heard a screeching noise in the parking lot and took a look not minding the threatening guy in front of her.

"Hey! I am talking to you!" The man got more aggressive.

With a smirk Viviana gestured for him to look back.

There he was... The Lion. He was holding the gun to Nicholai Palatini’s head.

The men around her were stunned and started cursing at Leo. Viviana got alert and using their bewilderment, quickly moved away from the men surrounding her. After taking a couple of steps away, she couldn’t move and her head hurt.

One of the men had grabbed her hair.

"Let him go, or else..." The man pulled her hair and pressed the blade to her throat.

"Big mistake," Viviana said.

"Shut up!" He shouted. She winced in pain as he pulled her hair.

*Bang*

With no second thoughts, Leon pulled the trigger and Nicholai slumped on the ground dead.

"Hey!"

The man screamed out of shock and Viviana felt the blade sinking into her skin.

*Bang* *Bang*

A series of gunshots rang and along with the shattered glasses, the men around her all fell on the floor. Vivianna stood still holding the baby close to her chest.

She didn’t get these guys. If they came for the baby, why did they put the knife to her throat when they could have easily grabbed the baby? Also, Palatini worried more about the money he lost after identifying Leon than about the daughter he so wanted to get back.

Do they really care for Ziya? Or it was just... Helena... Helena does not want me to have Ziya. She must be fuming knowing that Leo didn’t die. She must have sent her husband here to get me killed. That must be it!

What a b*tch!

"Are you okay?" Leon came running to her.

"I’m fine," she said.

Leon got Ziya from her hand. Ziya didn’t understand much but she was scared.

"You’re bleeding," Leon touched her neck. His hand was shaking seeing the blood dripping from the scratch.

"It’s okay, Leo. It’s not deep," Viviana stood on her tiptoes and kissed his cheek. "Let’s go."

She saw the sadness at the corner of his eyes as they got to the car. That night he didn’t eat much. He was in deep thoughts and she could see that he was disturbed about something.

After putting Ziya to bed, she went to the bedroom. He was not there. She found him sitting on the terrace, staring at the stars. Seeing her, he waved his hand. She walked to him.

"I paid the store for the repairs and cleanup. I refused my father’s offer for more security," she said and sat on his lap.

He hummed and hugged her. She thought he would open up but he didn’t. He’s that way but it hurt her to see him hurting.

"What bothers you, Leo?" she asked. She hoped he would open up.

"Nothing," he leaned on her shoulder.

She patted his back.

"Sing for me, honey," he asked.

Viviana kissed his forehead. It has been a while since he asked her to sing for him. She sang the song she usually sings.

"May it be... You walked a lonely road, Oh, how far you are from home..."

As she was singing that line, he squeezed her hard. She stopped singing and he looked at her. His eyes looked tired.

"Am I still too far from home, Lemon?" he asked.

"No," she kissed him. "You are home. I am your home," she said.

"You are," he smiled.

Viviana could see that his sadness had reduced a bit. "What is this about?" she asked.

Letting out a deep breath, he leaned on her chest. "I was not planning on taking a life today, Lemon," he buried his head in her cleavage. "I stayed away from you to finish it all and... I do not want to go back to my old ways. I should have killed him earlier... I... I gave him a choice, Lemon!"

He looked at her and his eyes were red. "I gave him a choice. He could have taken my goodwill and gotten lost to live his life with his wife and kids. But he... He had to come and put a knife to your throat!"

His lips trembled with anger.

Viviana held his cheeks. She knew what a tough situation this was. Although he wouldn’t be charged as everything was handled, he was feeling guilty. He told her that he wouldn’t regress to his old ways of being a gang general and all he wanted was to be a family man. She didn’t know how much of his guilt was about killing his ex-lover’s husband. Now Helena is without support and she will have to support two daughters.

She didn’t want to feel bad for Helena but she did.

"I don’t, Lemon. I don’t have the guts to see you in trouble. I... I..." his eyes clouded.

Viviana saw how much of a wreck he was. He rarely shows her this side of his. She didn’t like to see him this way. He’s the lion! Should he get broken for such simple things? No!

"You protected us, Leo. I am not a fool to not understand that," she said.

She didn’t want him to feel guilty as if he broke some promise to her. She was not holding anything against him for killing Palatini. He asked for it.

"I know the man I fell in love with. You don’t have to be the perfect Leona from the past for me. You can be yourself. I love you for everything you are, Leo. You don’t have to~"

Before she finished, he pulled her to a kiss. He didn’t say it but Viviana could feel that he was grateful for what she said. But it was no big deal. That was what she felt and she told him the truth.

He might have been perfect in the past. But like her, he too went through a lot and became the man he is now. She loved him for who he was. She would never try to change him when she knew how much he cared for her. She was not a fool to not understand the nuances.

She gently caressed his hair. He was still resting on her chest. Slowly, she could feel him getting warmer. His hand reached inside her shirt and kneaded on her chest.

"Should we support Helena indirectly?" she asked. "It would be hard for her to raise two kids~"

"No need," he glared at her. Pushing her aside, he stood up. "I beg you, Lemon. Don’t be a fool. She is nothing to me. For you too. Do not think that she has an ounce of care for you. You think she thinks of you as her sister?"

"Don’t get angry," Viviana walked to him with a pout and poked his chest. "I was worried for the kids. That’s it. I do not care about Helena."

"That’s good," he hugged her.

She leaned on his chest. "How can you say she means nothing to you when she was your second love?" she asked.

She knew she was his first love. But still, he did fall in love with Helena and wanted to marry her in the past.

"Are you jealous?" he asked.

Without even looking at his face, she could say that he was smirking. "No, I just want to know," she said hiding her blushing face from him.

Leander took a deep whiff of her hair. "She fooled me with her eyes. I thought she was you."

Viviana laughed. She didn’t know why she loved his answer. It was nice to hear that she was his first choice always.

"Let’s go to bed," he said.

"Okay, I too am tired."

"Who said we are going to sleep?"

"I do," Viviana put a firm foot.

"But I..."

"No!"

"Lemon..."

"No means no!"

"Are you on your period?"

"...No! It’s late..."

"Then why?"

"Are you serious?"

After bickering back and forth for some time, Viviana finally caved. He couldn’t keep his hands off her and she got turned on by his touches.

-----

The death of Palatini didn’t even cause an issue. Viviana heard from someone that Helena had vowed revenge. Leonardo asked her if she wanted Helena dead for her safety. But she didn’t think that killing her sister would be a good idea when she had two kids under ten.

Days passed. The preparations for the wedding were happening at a fast pace. She made sure everything was up to her taste.

Finally, the day arrived.
