Chapter 355: Will I Ever?
Chapter 355: Will I Ever?
"They chose their money over their daughter?" Viviana asked handing his phone back to him.
"Their money, their life, and her life, probably. I guess his negotiations went like this: Do you want a dead daughter or an alive one in prison? Which parent will ask for a dead child?" Leonardo shrugged and walked to his bed.
"Dad is very impressed with him. I was angry at him when he did nothing. He was so sure your husband would do something. And now...I am warming up to him..." he smiled.
"I married well, huh?" Viviana smiled proudly.
She never would have imagined that she would be proud of someone for threatening someone else, but here she is. This is her life now. And she loved it. It would be just perfect if he was with her and not out of her grasp.
"Didn’t he take you against your will and marry you?" Leonardo grumbled.
"You didn’t have to say it that way!" Viviana pouted. "He’s a gangster. What else do you expect?"
She was not mad at him but she thought maybe this could be the icebreaker to talk about Allison and his heartbreak.
Leonardo rolled his eyes. "Close the door on your way out."
It was obvious that Leonardo wanted to be alone. Of course, Viviana ignored his wish.
"How are you feeling, brother?" She sat beside him.
"Are you going to sleep here tonight?" he asked.
"Do you want me to? Or would you prefer someone else?" Viviana winked.
"Go away, Pig! If you are bored, talk to the boars you raise," he rolled to the other side showing his back to her.
"My dogs would miss me. I am going to get back there tomorrow," she said.
Leonardo didn’t answer her.
"I’ve planned a girl’s day out with Angelina tomorrow," she said hoping he would say something.
She could sense that Leonardo had a strong attachment to Angelina. It could just be a friendly attachment. He never mentioned her to her although they practically spent the past year together. She wanted to figure out what his feelings toward her were.
But first, she wanted to know if he was okay after the recent heartbreak.
"Hmm..." he rolled to face her. "You two are chummy already?"
"Yep!" Viviana shrugged.
"She must be tired after the long travel. Did she say something? Was she crying?" he asked.
Viviana sat cross-legged on the bed and smiled.
"Oh, come on," Leonardo rolled away. "I am not talking to you! You are my little sister. What do you know about anything?"
"Hello! I might be the younger one, but who’s the married one?" she scoffed.
"Once again...You were forced into that marriage," Leonardo scoffed. "As if you had the capacity to find a high-status man like him all by yourself! You know nothing about dating!"
Viviana fisted her hands and almost hit him. It hit a nerve. If left to her devices, if she tried to be in the dating pool, she never would have gotten even remotely closer to Leander’s level. She knew she had somehow won the lottery by ending up with him.
But she didn’t want to accept that fact from Leonardo.
"Yet I have it to wrap him around my little finger!" she said with a wide grin. "He would do anything for me."
"Yeah, except coming to get you," Leonardo retorted immediately.
Viviana sat by his side. She didn’t want to say anything to him. He’s probably venting. And he is right.
Her husband is refusing to see her.
There was silence in the room for some time.
"You are not going to leave me alone?" Leonardo asked. "You won’t even step inside my room until yesterday and today you are sitting on my bed. You are hellbent on annoying me tonight, aren’t you?"
"Annoying you? I am trying to console you," Viviana pouted.
"To hell with your consolation," Leonardo shouted and sat up. "It’s all your fault!" he pointed at her.
The tip of his finger almost touched Viviana’s forehead and Viviana saw the nerves on his forehead popping out. He was really annoyed.
"Me? What did I do?" She asked.
Is he blaming me for what Allison did?
"What didn’t you do? You and the annoying face you make when you talk about your husband... F*cking annoying!" Leonardo said.
Viviana didn’t understand a thing he said. What face does she make when she talks about Leander? And why does it annoy him?
"Get lost!" Leonardo shouted and plopped on the bed. He covered his face in the duvet.
"Fine! I’ll leave. I won’t annoy you with my annoying pigface. Enjoy your solitude! It was my fault to think you’ll need someone’s company after having your heart broken," Viviana got down from the bed.
She was not mad at Leonardo but she was a little annoyed he was pushing her out. She only tried to help him. But maybe she is annoying. Maybe that’s why her husband refuses to come back too. He’d rather go around robbing ships and blackmailing rich people than come back to her.
Maybe she should just lock herself up. No one wants her.
Well, Ziya wants her. She’d rather be with Ziya.
She turned to leave.
"Where are you going?" Leonardo held her wrist.
Viviana struggled out of his grip. "Didn’t you ask me to get lost? I am going to get lost," she raised her voice.
"Don’t go...Drink with me," Leonardo held her hand. "There’s a bottle of whiskey in the drawer under the TV. Bring it for me...please..." he added.
"Fine," Viviana poured him a glass.
He was still in the bed and she held the glass hostage until he sat up properly.
"Is it really a shock for you, Leonardo? Did you not see this coming? Maybe when you talked, she...You’re a smart guy, Leonardo. You must have seen something...There must have been some signs, red flags, if you may..." she said.
Allison did what she did. She wouldn’t let her near Leonardo again even if he wavered. She cannot lose her brother. So, she wouldn’t even go to that topic. She wanted to help him get over her and maybe look behind to ponder on what he missed.
He should be careful with the next woman he dates.
Leonardo said nothing and only drank glass after glass. Although he said nothing, he was thinking.
"I think you’ve had enough," Viviana got the glass from his hand.
He leaned to get the but Viviana placed it out of his reach.
"She gave a good head..." he said.
Viviana turned to look at him.
Head, as in... Okay...
Maybe I do not want to know my brother’s s*x life?
She was about to interject but he continued.
"I knew she did not like it when I talked about you or Ziya...distracted... I would get suspicious and she distracted me with..." Leonardo plopped on the pillow. "That’s all we did...everywhere, all time... we just...did it...I had no time to think and I almost bought a ring...she was good...I didn’t miss my old life...with her, I...she was so good..."
Leonardo slurred as he got drunk.
Viviana sighed. So, she love-bombed him. And he fell for it.
"But brother... Is that dating? I agree, I do not have any experience, but doesn’t dating mean you get to know each other not just physically but emotionally and in other aspects...? Or did you just replace all the other women with just one woman and thought that you were dating her? Did you form an emotional connection with her?" she asked.
She didn’t understand him, that’s why she asked him. But by the looks of it, he was so drunk. She covered him with the duvet.
"Come here..." he waved her hand.
Viviana leaned closer to him. He held her cheeks. "All because of you..." he said. "I wanted someone to smile the same way you smiled thinking of your husband... I wanted her...Was that too much to ask, Minerva? Dad had Mom. You are the Lion’s person. Will I ever find her?"
Viviana hugged him. She got emotional seeing her stoic and carefree brother getting emotional.
"You definitely will, Leonardo. You are a good man. You definitely will. I am sure of it..."
She stayed with him until he fell asleep.
