Chapter 34: Meeting His Fiancée
Chapter 34: Meeting His Fiancée
Viviana couldn’t sleep the entire night. She thought about how she could handle the trouble thrown at her. The easy outcome would be her death. She enters the party hall, and everyone shoots at her with their gun. The end.
But she didn’t think that Leander had that outcome in his mind. Why would he want her to have a makeover? Is it a ploy? Is he giving her hope only to pull the rug under her feet?
Leander couldn’t fall asleep either. His finger hovered over the video Steve sent him. He couldn’t bring up the courage to watch it. Somehow the way she said "burn" made all his past pain return.
Guess, one can never get over one’s trauma... A simple word can bring back the pain.
Fire—the worst destroyer. He knows because he had the scar to prove it.
He was in a fire accident when he was thirteen. Although they did a lot of grafts and surgeries, he still has remnant scars from that horrid accident. He successfully hid them with his tattoo. It was that incident and the following surgeries that gave him amnesia. He doesn’t remember much of his childhood other than what others had told him.
Ah!
He rubbed his head.
Thinking about that incident used to give him terrible headaches. The doctors said that it was his brain’s attempt to block the painful memories of that incident. But rather than that, he wondered if it was because he didn’t want to forget one important detail from that day.
The memory he wants to have back must have something to do with the angel he etched on his chest—the angel he felt strongly connected to. Not because he was religious, but because...
He didn’t know. But there should be some connection! He felt it in his bones. Whenever he thinks of it, his heart hurts.
What am I forgetting?
He placed his phone on the nightstand and watched the little woman. She was not crying. But he could see that she was not sleeping. He wanted to pet her hair.
But he cannot. He lay beside her staring at the ceiling.
Viviana was thinking the whole night and only had a disturbed sleep. She woke up tired. Leander insisted on having breakfast together. He then left the room. Very soon the hairdresser came in.
The hairdresser was this thin guy in his early twenties. Leander was standing by the door and watched as his room got turned into a makeshift salon.
Viviana looked at Leander as she felt his stare on her. He kept on staring at her for a minute before stepping back.
Viviana took a deep breath. Whatever his plans were, she was not going to go down easily. She will put up a fight right till the end.
She started to wonder if she should give up and let her life end in the hands of a Kastello. Or to get hurt by a Kastello...
No, she should not give up. She should fight. Her ending should not be dictated by a Kastello.
"Smoothen my hair and I want to have curtain bangs," she told the hairdresser.
She had naturally wavy hair and she never straightened her hair before. Maybe she should try. She knew that a change in the texture of hair would change the appearance of a person. That should be the intent of the makeover, right?
Also, she knew her way with makeup products. She can turn into an entirely different person using makeup; just like she did that night she castrated Evander.
She is not giving up on this fight.
Leander left his house with a smile. He didn’t think that she would be that excited about the makeover. But she appears serious. And that’s what he wanted.
He wanted to meet his grandfather about this dinner they had arranged.

Viviana sat silently as the hairdresser and his assistants did a lot of stuff to her hair. He asked if he could do highlights on her hair. He swore that caramel highlights with her black hair would truly suit her skin color and would make her look awesome. He went on about how healthy her hair was.
She was rather flattered by his compliments and ended up giving him permission to do what he wanted with her hair even though she had never colored her hair before.
She’s not the one paying him. And as long as she didn’t lose the length of her hair, she was happy. She loved the color of her hair and so just highlights with her natural hair looked like a better option. She believed this would change her appearance a lot.
As he started applying bleach to her hair for highlights, she heard someone barging into the room. The bedroom door was to her back, and she couldn’t see who it was, but Katerina was trying hard to stop that girl.
"Leo won’t mind, Katerina!" the girl shouted. "Know your place! Don’t you know who I am? I’ll fire you first thing after..."
That was followed by the clicking of stilettos on the marble floor. Viviana looked up and saw the girl standing in front of her. She looked like she came for a fight.
Viviana waved her hand for the hairdresser to stop. That girl who appeared to be sixteen was covered from top to bottom with luxury items. Viviana recognized the brand logo on the belt she was wearing. And everything else had the logos slapped on them. She knew that meant they are expensive.
Okay... what does this girl want with me? And who is she?
"Hi," the girl smiled. Her cheeks were round and full as she hadn’t lost her baby fat yet. And a cute dimple formed on her cheeks as she smiled. She looked so innocent and with her "mature" makeup, she looked bratty. "I am Nadia Donatello, Leander Kastello’s fiancée," she held out her hand for a shake.
"Oh?" Viviana raised her brows. "Fiancée? Have you graduated high school? Honey, are they forcing you to marry a man twice your age?" Viviana asked with the concern of any responsible citizen. Isn’t child marriage illegal?
"How dare you!" Nadia raised her hand to slap Viviana.
Viviana scoffed and stood up. She is not going to let a child bully her. But then she regretted standing up. Wearing a six-inch heel, that "child" was taller than she was.
Well, that child would be taller than her without her heels too...
"I am eighteen!" the girl said with her chin up. She hurriedly took a step back although she looked at her with contempt.
Viviana simply raised her brows. She did not believe that girl. But she knew that girl won’t pick a fight. She’s a kid. She’s not going to attack an adult.
The arrogance on the girl’s face dissipated, and her shoulders slouched. "I will be eighteen, next year," she pressed her lips.
Viviana swallowed her laugh. What a cute child!
"Well, well..." Nadia walked around Viviana. Viviana’s smile had provoked her.
"You’re too short and too old... Heh!" she snorted at Viviana, pointing her long acrylic nail at Viviana’s face. "Your skin is dry and pale; your lips are white, and... Eww! That crow’s feet! Ugh! And you don’t have the child-rearing hips...Hmm..." Nadia pressed her lips and adjusted the shoulder strap of her purse. Her nails made a clicking noise making Viviana cringe.
Nadia then smiled so innocently that her eyes closed. "I knew it," she mumbled under her breath. "He is mine..." Then she opened her eyes and pressed her lips.
"You, old lady! Leander is mine..." Nadia showed Viviana her necklace. "This necklace... He gifted it to me and promised that he will marry me. You’ve overstayed your welcome in my house. So, leave." She smirked.
Viviana was lost for words. She is 28 and is already called old! And the attitude... Ugh! Kids these days have no respect for people!
"Well then, KID!" she stressed "kid". She was satisfied seeing the smile on that innocent-looking face disappear.
"I’ll leave once your fiancé lets me go!" she shrugged and took her seat.
She is not going to argue with a child. And if that kid has something against her, she should take it with her fiancé. She is not staying here willingly, all right?
Viviana asked the hairdresser to continue and closed her eyes. Nadia stood by her side huffing and puffing in anger.
"I won’t let this go! Just you wait, old lady!" Nadia screamed and stomped out of the room.
"Do what you can, kid!" Viviana shouted back. She really hoped that kid convinces Leander to let her go.
A child bride? He gave her gifts and groomed her. Eww! Yuck! Twisted!
The hairdresser excused himself to use the restroom and Viviana let him go. He continued after some time.
"You’re only bleaching the hair for highlights, right?" Viviana asked for confirmation. She didn’t want her entire hair bleached. She’s heard that bleaching would damage the hair.
The hairdresser assured her that she will look amazing by the end of all the treatments and asked her to rest.
Viviana sat closing her eyes as she was sleepy. She didn’t sleep the entire night and the careful way the hairdresser handled her hair made her drowsy.
