Chapter 334: Princess Vitale
Viviana stared at the horizon. They’ve long crossed the distance the seagulls fly in the sea. The waves gently rocked her. She felt like she was in the middle of nowhere. She looked up with her sunglasses on. The umbrella was hiding the sun above her head.
She didn’t know how long she’d been traveling around with Leonardo. Ziya started to walk recently.
It’s been a very long time since that day.
She attended the funeral. Peter attended the funeral in a wheelchair with a lot of tubes attached to him. He still was a free man as he was not convicted. As they lowered Leander Kastello’s casket, the Rose Gardens burned due to an electrical short circuit.
Electrical short circuit. That’s what the records said.
The day after the funeral, a fire "accident" in the hospital took the life of Peter who was already struggling for his life.
’That demon got me!!! Hell! I’m in hell!!!’
She heard Peter’s last words. Well, the one who caused the accident recorded it for her. She was grateful.
She found Martha. She offered to get another job for her but she begged her to let her stay with her. And she’s right now in the Vitale mansion in this city taking care of Ziya. Luca had some burns but he survived. Others... well, everyone got settled.
She was told by Leander’s lawyers that Leander had transferred the resort they had built near St. Michael’s Church back to the orphanage. They kept the architecture and now the kids are staying in a five-star accommodation with the maintenance for that sprawling place getting paid from the donations from the Kastello family.
The investigative commission that investigated the wrongdoings of the Kastello family submitted their report a couple of months after Peter’s death. They said they couldn’t conclude with surety the extent of the atrocities committed by the Kastello mafia family as most of the records got burned in the fire at Orchid Gardens. They had to accept that there were law officers who helped the mafia family and accepted their bribes with embarrassment. They agreed that they couldn’t know for sure who the members of the mafia family were as they kept no such records or even if they did, it got burnt in the fire in the Rose Gardens.
The commission and the government officials all looked like blabbering incompetent fools. Some of them were dismissed for colluding with the mafia.
On records, the Kastello name was included with the fallen mafia families.
The public opinion was mixed. Those who were affected were relieved. Not by the report. No one cared whether they were recorded as a Mafia family. They were relieved to see the fire that swallowed the Kastello family.
And ever since the fall of the Kastello family, she heard that the Palatini family and the Waldorf family had the most growing businesses in the city. The public never got the relief they wanted. Kastello family is not the only big bad wolf in that part of the woods. Certainly not in the world.
Viviana was with Leonardo the whole time. He never left her alone. He took her everywhere he went. Maybe he figured she loved the sea, he took her to every vacation spot with a beach. She has made travels to almost every country with a beach.
And... she underestimated the connections the Vitale family had. They had associates in every part of the world.
Leonardo didn’t shy away from introducing her to everyone as his sister. She attended many balls and parties and rubbed elbows with the elites of the world. She’s met a bunch of princes and princesses, Kings and queens, presidents and prime ministers; not to mention business people.
Her simple business had reached the high place she never thought it would ever be. They have shows lined up in Paris, Milan, and every other fashion capital for the next Spring-Summer.
Stars are walking on red carpets flaunting their garments, proudly mentioning their label.
Leonardo promised that their business would get every prestigious fashion award in the coming years. Their brand, in just a year of launching, had become a luxury brand known to the masses.
She couldn’t even refute: That was the power of the Vitale family.
Vito offered her mansions and ski resorts (It was a funny story. She said she wanted to learn to ski and her father almost bought her a ski resort. She had to battle with him to refuse the resort.). She didn’t take any of them.
She was hesitant at first to stay with Vito and Leonardo. But the love they showed her changed her mind. She was not treated as a guest. She was family.
Vito didn’t call her "Princess" for lip service. He meant it. Wherever they went, she was treated with respect belonging to the prestigious Vitale family.
Minerva. Just Minerva. That’s how everyone knows her.
Princess Vitale—that’s how everyone addresses her; kings and staff alike.
She is Princess Vitale while Leonardo is Mr. Vitale or his close circle of friends calls him "Ardo".
She was glad no one called him Leo. She didn’t know whether Leonardo asked them not to call him Leo or maybe that’s how they always called him.
She was not ashamed of saying the Kastello name. But Leonardo always talks first and introduces her as the princess of the family. Everyone follows along.
"Do you want to soak in the sun?"
Leonardo’s face came into her view as she was looking at the sun through the umbrella.
"No," she shook her head. "I’m fine."
"You’re pale and... At least wear a bikini and take a swim in the water. It’s safe," he grumbled.
He’s become her keeper these days. She understood he was worried for her and that was the reason he’s been nagging her like a grandmother. He’s a good guy; just to her.
She didn’t want to think about his promiscuous ways. He’s been with almost five hundred women in the days she was with him alone. It was irksome but she didn’t blame him entirely. He never looked for women. They come to him in the hopes that he might take them in his heart.
But he is elusive.
Viviana scoffed and turned to the side. She was not interested in wearing bikinis.
Her eyes clouded.
Leander was the only guy who had seen her in a bikini. She wanted that to be the case forever.
"There’s a party tonight. Be ready. Maybe someone will be impressed with you in your Victorian-era ballgown," Leonardo scoffed.
Viviana scoffed. "I don’t care."
There is a reason she’s attending every party Leonardo asks her to attend. It was certainly for not finding a boyfriend.
"At least have a one-night stand, for f*ck’s sake!" Leonardo sighed. "It’s been almost a year. How long are you~"
Viviana turned and looked at Leonardo dead in his eyes.
"He’s not dead, Leonardo. My husband is still alive."
